so after reading the posts i would like a little help on batterys should i use protected or unprotected what brand size

Anything Sub ohms meaning anything below 1.0 ohm I would recommend AW or MNKE. MNKE are my first choice.

I believe that takes an 18650 battery. You will want to use a safer chemistry high-drain battery such as these:

Panasonic only has a 10A drain. MNKE has a steady pulse of 20A other battery fluctuate and dont give you that good hit.

No, it's pulling 17 watts. At .8 he would be pulling only about 4.6 amps, which most safe chemistry batteries can handle fine.
