All I can say is WOW. Great job as always Isaac!

I primed it with a 8 drops of Vaporstation Frisco (VG version), and took my lazy basset hound for a walk. Come home 30 mins later, throw it on an 510-801 stealth adaptor and pop it on my 3.7v Ali'i.

vaping HEAVEN

Draw is a tad lighter than the old LR801 mini, taste is out of this world, TH got a nice bump as well. And the two kickers? No juice in the mouth, and my SuperT 801 shorty fits perfectly.

You sir, have perfected the 801. I am officially in love.

If your new car arrives, will you keep it in a garage until the old car dies first? :)

Well... the decision was made for me... my fullsize 801 just quit on me... nofin comes out of it at all... totally open circuit :(

I'm having a short run of not so good of luck as usual with my attys lasting. I'm back to using another fullsize 801 that I had set aside not because it stopped performing, but because there's a gap between the band and the atty tube that interferes with proper airflow and thru which liquid leaks. I taped it, but since it's looks janky I haven't been using it. Before using the fullsize that just cut out on me, I had been using a mini 801 that didn't last long as usual for me, and died not by just underperforming more and more (which is usual for me), but the resistance shot way up to the point of no vapor production at all.

So I'm using the taped guy for the time being (even though i've got a another fullsize 801s in the wings), and good thing I've got the new mini's showing up (tomorrow maybe?).

Definitely nice to have backups on hand, and with that in mind, I think it's already time for me to order some more.

Hooray... the new mini's arrived today! I was a little worried that 1.8 would be too hot compared to 2.0... not at all... it is a bit warmer, but not nearly so warm as 3.5 @ 6v... excellent atty for the 3.7v mod Isaac!

2.0 ohm @ 3.8 = 7'ish watts
1.8 ohm @ 3.8v = 8'ish watts
3.5 ohm @ 6v = 10'ish watts

8 watts works for Goldielocks :)

I'm sure this could put a dent in the 16340IMR runtime, but maybe with more powerful hits, I'll take fewer hits total?

I hate to sound ignorant but I just got a new BUZZ today and just read this post. My BUZZ has a 808 connection, so I am assuming I can try one of these mini 801 attys with a 510 adapter?

Also - are you guys dripping with this or using carts??

From the previous post I should set my BUZZ at 3.8??

Sorry for all the questions, but the BUZZ is my first mod and I'm looking for different things to try with it. I have the IKV MEGA cartos coming in tomorrow and some 510 Golds.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The 808 carto connection is the same as the 901 atty connection (except 808 has additional slots for carto airflow). You'd need a 901 to 801 threading adapter to attach an 801 atty. Something like this...
901 Battery to 801 Atomizer adapter

I think the BUZZ uses a linear voltage regulator with two 3.7v batteries as a power supply. If that's right, you'd probably do better to get the the HV atty at 3.5 ohms and set your BUZZ to around 5.3 volts. That setup will produce about 8 watts, put less stress on your batteries, and provide greater runtime.

The reason to go the HV route rather then the LR route with your setup is to make better and safer use of your batteries. Using the LR atty, you'd be wasting about half the power (as heat in the linear voltage regulator). Using the HV atty, you'd only be loosing around 30%. You'll get more runtime the HV route. Also, unless you're using IMR batteriers in the BUZZ you absolutely should go the HV route. With the LR atty, the current requirements will exceed the ICR batteries max drain rate.

Use this page to perform basic power calcutations: enter watts and resistance and get the voltage level to put your BUZZ at. This page will also show you the amps that will be needed. Compare that value to the max drain rate of your batts to know if your within the operating limits of your batts.

The max drain rate of the AW 16340ICR (the black ones) is about 1.5 amps. The max drain rate of the AW 16340 IMR (the red ones) is about 4 amps. Huge difference there. That's what makes the 16340 IMR a gem of a battery for vaping.

These mini 801 attys can only be dripped (or bottom fed), there is no cart at all in the system (unless you get super inventive and fashion a homemade cart of some kind into the little whistle tip).

Personal opinion, but a properly powered IKV 801 atty blows the doors off of any carto ever made :)

I was going to use a new girlfriend / old girlfriend analogy but I wasn't sure if it would go over well with everyone...

Now girlfriends are different, I prefer to use both :)
Not necessarily at the same time, but maybe once and a while.

Anyway back to the topic. Can't wait to try them out. Still have 2 of the last batch at 2ohm working now.
Just getting the hang of them on my REO Grand. Life is good.

Issac is 'da man.

Might have been too wet. Too wet is worst than too dry IMHO.

I also briefly considered letting my current 801 minis and long boys run their course. Two seconds later I was firing up a new 1.8. The break-in for the 1.8 seems to be a tad bit longer than for my other Ikenvape 801s and for a bit it tasted like I encountered some primer. The air flow on my stealth adapter had to be opened up a little bit more to get to the sweet spot.

Then again, I think Isaac floats above the earth so my expectations were way too high to begin with. By longer I mean an hour as opposed to 1/2 hour. I know...proves how spoiled I am, doesn't it? :) I've got two going - one on a Reo and the other with a VapeMate. I do put the long boys in my PV carry kit as back-ups and have them in my active atty caddy for rotation but, for now, I'm all about these 1.8's.

And, this habit is so embarrassing I can't believe I'm going public with it. I polish my 1.8's with eye glass wipes. Rather than let these beauties be seen with smudges or drips I keep an unopened wipe in my PV kit. Judging by the videos I see with the minis I can't be the only one who wants to show them to their best advantage though.

Great job, Isaac!

Almost a week now and my first is still going strong. Definately getting better with age. I too loosened up my stealth 801 adapter a bit to increase air flow. Works like a charm.

Can't get over how much better these are the 2.0 minis, and I was a fan of those (more for the flavor than function). These new 1.8's check all the boxes.

Great taste, check.
Better TH, check.
Works with my drip tip, check.
No juice in the mouth, check.

Don't be embarrassed. I like to keep my attys and PVs, especially the Reos spiffed up. I even use a special metal cleaner on my RoughStack, with carto (anxiously awaiting the big cartos) the only PV I carry to the woods, when I'm working, just in case it gets lost. I would just about die if one of my special mods got lost. I'll have to admit that the IKV 801s are the prettiest attys out there. They don't even lose any clear coating, when boiled, like other metal attys/cartos do.

When I've commented about cutting the 801 standard/tall LR down I mention that, when I uncrimp the edge, I'm careful to not mar the beautiful finish. (I love the IKV 2.0 so much I ordered 20 of the last 40 available. Another Reo user purchased 10 soon after. At $5 a piece, they were a STEAL.)
