I smoked analogs for over 45 years. I've been tobacoo free for a month and a half. Still not tasting flavors all that well. But within the last ten days or so, I'm just now starting to 'feel' the difference between certain flavors. Mostly I drip during the days, easier to switch between flavors without mixing them. I prefer a cart, but during the day at work is just way easier to drip.

So, for me, my greatest pleasure with vap'n is the clouds of vapor at this point. As I learn more and the taste buds recover more I am getting into DIY mixing. Great hobby and can customize the flavors. In the DIY section there is a thread exclusively for reciepes. The very first one by Spikey, I beleive, is for a RY4. That one really tastes nice to these old taste buds.

Give it time and find what works for you and each day will be more of a joyous adventure than you ever experienced light'n up a coffin nail.

So, last night I soaked the atomizers in vodka and left them there over night. I woke up this morning, blew them out, dried 'em out for about 10 minutes, and gave my first liquid a shot. It tasted okay, still a bit on the odd tasting side.

So, I burned it out, popped in some menthol, and it tastes AWESOME! I think it's probably a combination of me having to get used to this new thing called "taste," and the atomizers being new and needing breaking in.

In any case, thank you all for your advice. It's helped out tremendously!

You're on your way now!

I don't advocate the 'overnight' soak but 15 - 30 minutes should be enough to handle primer fluid and 1-2 hours for cleaning.

Now you have to try all your flavors out again ;-)

haha if you solve this please let me know. Since June 30th I’ve only been able to enjoy mint or menthol. At first I thought it was the juice. But I started buying lots of different vendors. Just like you say it all has a burnt like plastic flavor to me. I don't taste cheery in the cherry or coke in the coke nothing just mint and menthol. So I got 2 new 510 starter kits from 2 different vendors they all hit the same. I'm starting to think it's just my taste buds cause i was a menthol smoker for 10 years. Anyways I just kind of live with the fact that I only like mint and menthol. I even tried the DIY and mixing my own flavors and haven’t found anything I like. I can how ever get taste out of it this way since i can just overload the flavor but it isn't pleasant at all.

I have the same problem, Drunkwaco. I've been vaping since Aug 31, and I'm still not tasting it. I got juice from 3 different places, all different flavors, and they hardly have any taste at all! It's not even burnt-it's nothing! I've used freshly cleaned attys and freshly PTB filled carts, and still nada :( I do get an incredible scent going on with Dawn's Banana e-juice, but not a bit of flavor!

It's a little disappointing. I don't know if it's just the 510 itself, or my tastebuds that have somehow gone to crap.

One of these days when I've got some extra cash, I need to try a different device to see if the taste comes through any better, because people are always talking about how great some juices are, and it's just not happening for me.

Yeah - me too. My usual device is the 510 as well. I was a menthol smoker for 41 years and my taste buds are toast. The fluids that I ordered were bland at best or tasteless. The only way that I was able to get around it was to buy a bunch of flavorings and liberally supplement the flavors that I purchased. When I mix my own e-liquids I have to use 40% flavor to really enjoy it. I've only been off analogs for nearly two months, so maybe my sense of taste will return, but I won't bank on it.

There's two things going on here the poster, drunkwaco, is saying there's a burnt plastic taste that's blocking out flavors and others saying bland. My contention is that the strong taste was an extra strong tobacco or a mistake in the mixing at dekang that wiped out flavor and tasted bad. For those of us (even with 510's) who had juice before the dates I mentioned above, there were no problems. Just now (my last two orders from Heaven Gifts) am I tasting the 'old' good juice. Some vendors may still have the strong plastic (some say perfumey or strong tobacco) taste, but they should be running out of that soon, imo. Another 'taste hound' Jersey Girl that experienced the same tastes reported that it wasn't in Dekang's unflavored juice so that's why I think it was a mistake in mixing.

And the last two posts aren't reporting a strong taste but a bland taste - and I agree some flavors are bland, but the Hilton, Kent, flue cured, 555, janty's cap. and other strong flavors are tasting fine for me now - but not during that period which I think ran from the last week in May (as far as production dates go - because the juice I got in June was made in April or early May) to the 3nd week in July - July 20th to be exact. And that didn't show up until late August, because they still were selling the 'bad stock'.

And I agree with RIMP except I haven't tried Dawn yet. I get Nhaler's 'high voltage' which is a refererce to flavor not nicotine and the double flavored stuff from myfreedomsmokes when they had that.

Those definitely aren't 'bland' on the 510 manual or auto or Janty Stick.

When I first started vaping I thought flavors were a scam cuz everything tasted the exact same to me. Once my taste buds started to come back I ordered a 510 from smokey treats or something like that and it tasted so freakin nasty. Every cart I loaded almost made me gag. Apparently it was thick on the atty primer and the next day it was somewhat better. If you have some juice, Id blow the atty out, drip 2-3 drops on the atty and puff it a few times. Im pretty sure you are tasting primer as a new 510 shouldnt taste burnt unless the cart is dry or some fill fibers are stuck on the bridge.

I reccommend those with the persistent "burnt" tase remove the nylon fibers in the atomizer bridge.
That's what made the difference for me in all my 510 atomizers.

They should perhaps try that, but if it's the case, as some have noted, where the juice tasted good before a certain date, then didn't, then did, it isn't the fibers in the bridge.

No matter what flavors I used on My 510.. there was always that burnt atty taste underlying.. I didnt use my 510 that much because didnt like any carts flavors and was getting that burnt taste.. all flavors barely had any flavor and just tasted 510 atty. That is when I went to Nhaler, I was told his juice is not weak and thicker than most vendiors and on top of most of his custom flavors are USA made I purchased and cant be happier!
Then he added his HV Juice.. it is designed to burn better and slower on higher manual switch batteries and Mods, I have tremendous Vapor and more flavor with this on my Kr808 battery also. I am with Ken try Nhaler's High Voltage.. havent tried Dawn's yet s I cant vouch for those juices.

Oh yeah, that's what the high voltage designates - thanks - for the High V mods and it also works with the 510 well.

I am a menthol smoker, and all my juices come from Dekang.
I can taste all the different flavors, I have like 20 different flavors, cuz I like to taste them all before I offer them, so I can describe them. ANyway, Ive never had a problem with the juices being bland for me. And direct dripping, I think is the best idea for first uses on an atomizer. I think it the best way period.
HAS anyone tried the high voltage juice, does it really produce a stronger taste in 6 volt batteries. I dont see how it could. Im sure, its the same juice percentages.
IF im wrong will someone please inform me, so I can try some.
Thanks.

I did that and the atty promtly stopped working altogether. Not a single puff of vapor anymore. :(
That doesn't seem to make sense...
I know some people say it doesn't work as well, but for it to not work at all anymore?

Did you remove the nylon in the bridge or the material the coil is wrapped around?

Maybe you broke the coil digging too deep?

I've done it to eight atomizers from three different manufaturers and not had a problem.
I only do it when I get he persistent burnt taste, because otherwise it's trash.
Either I can throw it away, or I can do this.
Seems silly to me not to try it.

So, I received my new 510 today - it works good. The only problem I have is that every damn flavor I have tastes the same except for menthol which pretty much overpowers everything.

Everything else has a sort of dark taste to it that isn't very pleasant.

Anyone else have this problem?

im havng to same problem

Yea I'm still working on the DIY. I can get flavor from my DIY stuff but i have yet to get a good percentage. It's either to powerful and makes me feel a lil sick with taste. or i just get a bad taste combonation. I havn't tried pulling those treads out of my attys cause honestly i'm scared of that. I've cleaned my atties twice now just soaking them in coke or pepsi then raising them and let them dry. they seem to work better vapor wise but i still get the same burnt taste out of all the flavors still. I've now basiclly given up and stocked up on mint and menthol. It isn't a bad thing i love mint and menthol and don't see a NEED to have other flavors IMO. I do remember Being addicted to RY4 when i was drunk. Might go back and get me some of that as well. Also i might give that Nhaler HV a try when my stock runs low. Thanks everyone that is trying to help the OP here i learned a decent bit here
