New and Confused!

I'm happy to have found ECF while doing research on what to buy, but honestly, the additional info here is just adding to my confusion and indecision! From reading the stickies, I know "analysis paralysis" is a common thing for newbies, and I've definitely got it.

I was considering getting the Bull Smoke starter kit for both my husband and myself. At $30 for two 808d-1 batteries, chargers and 10 pre-filled cartridges, it seems like a good deal. However, I'd like to be able to at least refill blanks at some point to save some money and customize the experience. It looks like the glassomizers (not a big fan of heating polycarbonate due to BPA and such) are the best way to go for that, although I'm not sure if any of those would be compatible with the 808d-1 threading on the Bull Smoke batteries.

What say you, more experienced vapers?

If your looking for a cigalike, I don't personally use them but a lot of folks that do recommend vapor4life products. I know the volt is a popular one too. I would suggest starting with an ego or a vision unless your wanting the form factor of the cigalike. It opens a lot of choices to juice delivery systems. I would recommend going with a 510 or ego connection. There are a lot more choices for that type of connection than the 808. I'm sure others will chime in.

The biggest problem with a cigalike is that the battery is so small your constantly charging it(every hour). An ego or vision will last you pretty much the entire day before charging.

You don't have to worry about BPA when it comes to rebuildable atomizers. With those most people are using specifically organic cottons or eco-wools, and most people boil it anyway.

If you can skip the cig-alike phase, please do. If you can't, you'll probably be moving on to something else within 2 months anyway as the cig-alikes are downright annoying. They don't have large batteries (300 mAh absolute maximum, and that's rare), they tend to give an irregular experience, and you always find yourself searching for an outlet to recharge the dumb things.

That having been said, a lot of people feel that the similarity of the experience to smoking is really important (I did). And for that 2 months or so, the cig-alikes do their job. Some do it well. I'm a personal fan of the Bloog and Volt as I used them to quit smoking (and then moved on to a larger system later on).

Take a look at the eGo 650 mAh models, they'll give a more consistent vape and last a lot longer. They're also not too large to start with and don't make you feel like you're sticking a baseball bat in your mouth. You'll still probably move on, but from that starting point you have a lot more options without discarding your old equipment!

I started with the Blu ecigs and while they did help me get off the analogs, I never really liked them. When I switched to the Ego batteries and the T2 top coil tanks I really began to enjoy vaping.
If you do not like the plastic tanks, you can get the mini Protanks which have glass instead. I think a real key to being successful is to find flavors that you like. If you have a local vape shop you can visit them and sample many flavors to find what you like.

I have been a Bullsmoke customer while the price is nice was totally unimpressed overall.

In the month I was with them they shipped my order to the wrong place twice and when I "finally" got my kit it was not what ordered but someone else's order with 4 batteries and 200 vanilla carts and 50 Turkish carts.

Product experience
Batteries did not last but maybe half a day
Carts tasted burnt/fried after 5 or 6 puffs.
Flavour even before burnt/fried taste was bad not accurate.

Ended up back on real cigs.

My recommendation
Ego c twist with iSmoka BBC tank or kanger protank 2
This is what I used to quit cigs after my horrible bullsmoke experience.

It will cost a lil bit more startup but save you more long run.

If you tried the Blu and didn't like them, I would be willing to bet the farm you won't like the starter kit you mentioned in your first post. Sounds like your ready for an ego starter kit. They are in the same price range as what your looking at already and your getting so much more battery life with an ego starter kit.
You have graduated to the next level, don't spend any more money on cigalikes unless you just HAVE to have the same form factor.

To add to my Bullsmoke info the short batt is a manual fire meaning you push a button to start. It is decent fully charged but as you drain battery it starts sucking quickly.
The Kentucky long battery is automatic meaning just take a drag
supposed to have better battery life it really doesn't. Last about same as short and sucks from the start

i would also suggest an ego as a starting point. There are many more flavor and gear options down the road or you can keep it simple. They're pretty cheap without sacrificing much performance.
I would stay away from ecigs that resemble the thin pen-style ecigs you find at gas stations or walmart.

Hi EJB,
You should save yourself some time and money, as you are only going to want to upgrade from there. My fiancé and I recently bought the Kanger Evod starter kit ($35 for two devices + tanks & coils). They are the stick type "ecigs" but have tanks that allow you to refill them with your personal type of juice. Anyway, only about a week later I wanted to upgrade those as well!!! So, got the MVP 2 ($45 ea). So I would highly recommend that you start off with at the very least an Evod (or EGo) battery kit......you wont regret it.

If you insist on a cig-alike, I recommend Vapor4life or the Volt. With Vapor4life you can buy cato's then juice to refill them, which is a lot cheaper in the long run. They have a sub-forum here, get in your five posts and check them out!
Get AT LEAST two batteries per person! 3-4 hours is about all the run and drop it once and it's done!
EGO's aren't much bigger, are a lot more compatible, with the 510 connection, run and last longer. But again, I stress to get two for each person! No matter what you buy, ALWAYS have backups!

Our only actual experience is with a Krave disposable my husband bought a couple of days ago. It was way overpriced and died prematurely, but it did keep my husband off of analogs for a day. That says a lot. I'm thinking a cig-alike is more important to him than to me, but I'll show him his options with the pros and cons once I've narrowed them down some.

What's your favorite place for the ego batteries and supplies?

Having not read but as far as Rancor's post, I agree with it 100%. I started my wife with an ego-c kit and she hasn't had to change much since then. Of course she's gotten new batteries.. Curse you grenade shaped batteries guy.., but as soon as I got her a Protank 2 she has been using it exclusively with the LR(low resistance) heads for almost 8 months but for one day when she dropped it and managed to break the glass which I just gave her mine since I still kind of like my mini Nova.

And now I have rambled. Lol.

I'm fairly new and the above advice can't be more correct. I bought a cigalike and quickly bought an ego-c-twist with a vivi nova tank and it HAS opened up the vaping world 10 fold.
