Still cigg free! I was up till 3am,(I'm a night person), and resisted the urge to go to town and buy a pack! So am proud of myself for that!

I kept reading everyone's supportive posts, and they really helped. Thank you all for taking the time to post. I think it helped knowing that most of you have been where I am, and were able to quit. The bottom line is that I am a serious smoker, a very hyper type personality, and most of my jobs were very high stress. So I smoked a lot. But have known for years that I needed to quit, and have literally tried everything, with no sucess.

I did find that the ejuice I was using last night was just plum nasty. Kinda sweet at first, then a very bitter, not good taste in my mouth. Its called sixth sense. Yuck.

Ha ha, made the mistake, unknowingly, of leaving my device on empty! I am not very coordinated when I first wake up, and thats when I really want to smoke, so had to wait till I was awake enough to dismantle my device, clean and refill it with another ejuice. Bavarian Cream, by mount baker. It is definitely much tastier than the former.

Of course, I didn't realize till after I ordered all my stuff, that they don't seem to be a favorite place to order ejuice from. But, they were very nice and helpful.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to amisssamack for making it for 2 months!!!!!!! Hearing things like that makes me think I can do it, this time.

Does anyone have suggestions for flavors, and where to purchase them?
I am not a mint person. I like creams and fruit flavors.

I think I am going to order some WTA's today, thinking I am probably addicted to more than just the nicotine, so its woth a shot.
I will for sure order the "pomegranate" , cause I like the fruit and flavor, and someone had posted how it helped them when they were craving badly.

Please, any suggestions for any flavors are welcome! ( I realized that what I was vaping last night, tasted like Robitussin, again, Yuck!)

A couple of questions:

Am I sub ohming? I have the Coolfire 4 with an Aspire mini Nautilus. At 1.8 ohms.

Next question: Where do I get an ejuice calculator?
Also, where is the best place to get DIY supplies?
What are the basic flavors that I should have on hand, to make recipes?
I realize that some recipes will call for a specific special flavor, but I mean that I plan to stock my supplies, a little at a time, kinda like your spice cabinet, you know you will need garlic powder, parsley etc.

So, what basic flavors should I invest in to start, and where to get them?

And again, a giant thank you for all the support! It is appreciated!

Congrats on breakthrough of being able tobwait and fill your tank instead of going to get a pack of smokes.

I get my VG and PG from Amazon.

I get my flavors from the perfumer's apprentice. They have a sister site called the Flavors apprentice. I got my nicotine long ago. Don't remember where I got my nic.

No you are not a sub ohmer until the resistance is less than 1 ohm. I am barely a sub ohmer. I prefer my resistance at .8-1 ohm. Most sub ohmers Is aboutb1/2 ohm or less

I found the DIY recipe page with links to where to buy supplies.
The DIY store has a starter kit. I guess this is a good place to start.
I am wondering if the different flavoring companies are more or less equivalent?

I wouldn't get a starter kit. I would get a quart each of VG and PG.

Get an assortment of flavors and starter supply of Nic.

Do a Google search for ejuice calculator. There are a bunch of them online. One of them also VB has recipes it'd users has published.

Take some time to get familiar with.

It will ask everything about your flavors and nic.

Nic strength is measured in Milligrams per milliliter. It will also need the VG/PG ratio

It will want the VG/PG ratio of the flavors.

It will ask the size of batch of ejuice you are making. It will ask the target VG/PG ratio you want this batch to be. The strength of Nic in the bottle you are making

After you have provided this data the calculator will spit out a formula to make that bottle of juicd.

If you use a smart phone the app store and Google play app store has ejuice calculators too.

Goodness, it sounds quite technical!
Well, I can at least start accumulating my supplies.
Thanks for the input to not get a starter kit.
And thanks for the input on flavor suppliers.
I learned from my initial ejuice purchases, that I need personal input, not just what the web site says, to get better quality.

It's not that hard. The calculator does all of the math for you.

I would recommend you start playing with the ejuice calculator so when you get the supplies the calculator won't be so scary.

Congrats on switching from smoking to vaping! You have received a lot of good advice here. I would say be sure to ask if you have any questions, but you have been. That's the best way to start on a vaping journey.

Around 8 years ago my father-in-law bought a cigalike. I thought it was cool and bought a starter kit as well. Since they are so unsatisfying, we both ended up going back to smoking within days. I had not done enough research and did not know about any forums. Fast forward to about 2 years ago, I wanted to try again. I had filled my cart at the cigalike site I bought from previously. My hubby told me about a guy at work using a pen-style device. I didn't think it was what I wanted, but I began to do research. I found ECF. Around the same time, a vape shop opened near me. I went in and tried out soooo many flavors and finally found a couple that I liked. I bought an ego styled starter kit and the rest is history. (I now use a subtanks and k-boxes, a.k.a the subox kit)

The reason I brought all of this up is that I have been smoke free since my second day of vaping (almost 2 years) because I did research and asked questions. My father-in-law is pretty stubborn and has yet to find a good combination of hardware and eliquid. He won't ask questions and doesn't take advice. (on vaping nor anything else) He still smokes. I sadly watch his health decline.

Please don't ever feel like you can't ask questions here. The only stupid question would be the one you DIDN'T ask and caused you to go back to smoking!

I'm so happy for you! Every time someone quits smoking, its a victory!!:thumbs:

Wow! Thanks again guys for the great advice and support. It REALLY helps.( but I am guessing that most of you that have been in my shoes, know how much the support helps!)

Well, made it through another day without smoking!

It has not been as hard as all the (multiple) times before that I have tried to quit.
I am not saying that it's easy, just that it's not as bad as before.
I am not climbing the walls, nor snapping my families heads off. Ha ha
I still crave them, but the vaping and nicotine have made it tolerable. Sometimes I am chain vaping, but then I guess once the nicotine levels reach what my body craves, I don't vape for a while

I even got my son hooked up. He traded my nephew for his device, and really doesn't know anything about it, other than how to add the ejuice. He decided he needed a Coolfire 4, like mine.

He has an eleaf mini, and I don't know what kind of tank it has, but I knew from reading here, that my eleaf mini tanks I had gotten for spares would fit his mod, so gave him one last night. It helped his a lot!!!

I am not climbing the walls, but at times I crave BIG TIME! I am going to order some WTA's this morning.

I am going to order the pomegranate, and if anyone has any suggestions for any others, I would appreciate any input.

Also, I am going to start getting my supplies for DIY ejuices. Will order pg and vg from Amazon. Will make a small order from the Perfumer's Apprentice. Probably a starter pack of flavors.
I will get an ejuice calculator.

Questions:

What type of bottles are best to put my creations in? Glass, plastic, what type of tips or droppers should I get and what size of bottles?

Is there any other specific type of tool I will need? I have plenty of regular syringes, do I need some with the long blunt tip, and what size?

What do I mix it in?
Do I need a specific spoon or other mixing tool?
Any tool I might need?
Not gonna order like crazy right now, but want to have my basic tools/supplies in case I get crazy, and try mixing a recipe.
:shock::shock::shock:

The amount of nicotine you are receiving is very different from what you were receiving via an analog cig. The delivery system is also completely different. Just vape when you want. As much as you want or as little as you want. You'll just naturally slide in to you're preference of frequency. I chain vape all day long from when I get up in the morning until just before I lie down at night. However, I have friends who take two or three hits a day and that's all they need.

Okay, more questions before I order from
Aromaejuice.com
I was wanting to try the WTA's.
Has anyone used them, and whats your opinion?
Also, I am not sure which of their varieties I should order.I know the viscosity of the ejuice makes a difference, but I don't know if pg or vg is the thicker one?

The Redtail line is vg based, 80/20.

The aroma ejuice is pg based, 70/30.

My mod is the Coolfire 4 with a mini Nautilus tank at 1.8 ohms.

Which would be better to order?
Should I order 1 of each?

Has anyone tried these WTA's and found that they helped?

Is there a coupon for this site?

Thanks!

The VG gives the clouds and the PG carries the flavor.

Never used wta so I have no comment.

I just add everything to a bottle close tightly and shake well. You will need to let the juice steep a day or two for the flavors to blend.

About the syringes. I would recommend 5 3 ml blunt syringes. You would use these for the nic and flavors

Then get 3 10 ml syringes for the VG and PG.

The VG is very thick and viscous. You may want to put everything in the bottle except the vg then use a funnel and top off the bottle with VG.

1449177042805434570390.jpg this the kind of ejuice bottles I use. This bottle holds 50 ml.

The same kind of. Bottles come in a wide range of sizes. As small as 5 ml and maybe up to 120 ml.

The Nautilus doesn't handle high VG very well. 70/30 VG/PG is about the limit. The GS Airs handle higher VG better because the holes that feed the wick are larger.

Thanks for posting this. Been a very long time since I vapedva Nautilus Mini.

Again, thanks for the great info!
Luckily, I have both the Nautilus mini and the GS air, so I will switch tanks if I get a higher vg ejuice.

Is there a lonk that shows how to clean the tanks? I thought I saw a video that showed washing them out with water, but I'm not sure. Can the part with the wick and coils get wet with water? Do you have to wait for the coil part to completely dry, before using it again? Approximately how long does it need to air dry before I can use it again?

How often should I clean my tanks?
I am trying to be really careful with my tanks, so I don't have to change the coils, as I'm not confident enough at this point to try changing them myself. (Even though I bought replacement coils for both of my tanks)

Also, had some problems with Aromaejuice today. I found on the board reviews of their products with were good, plus it said excellent customer service.

I called several times yesterday, and, left a voive mail. They never answered their phone, nor did anyone call me back.

I'm REALLY disappointed. I think I really need the WTA's, because I was such a heavy smoker and for a horribly long time.

I understand the brain chemistry, especially since for the last 10 years I worked as a psych nurse.

This vaping is definitely helping, but I need more. I will try calling them again tomorrow, and hopefully can get ahold of someone to speak with, as I have several questions to ask.

Should I order some of both their lines?
One is higher pg based, and the other is higher vg based.

Okay, I have a dumb question:

I now understand that the higher vg makes a bigger cloud, but whats the big deal about a big cloud?

If the higher pg carries more flavor, then logically thats the one I would choose.

I am interested in the nicotine being high enough to keep me satisfied, and that the taste not be bad, but not cloud production. Am I missing something here?

Even now, I am often getting a bitter taste in my mouth, and hope this will go away soon. I am thinking that maybe my tastebuds need to clear up, or something. I have tried 3 different flavors, and have experienced this bitter taste with them all at times.

I didn't order any DIY stuff yet, because I was so excited about trying the WTA's, and thinking maybe that is what I need to vape, at least for awhile, so these cravings calm down.

Is there another vendor that sells these.
Or is it just aromaejuices?

you can wash the tank and coils with hot soapy water. The coild does need to dry before reuse. Overnight on a paper towel works, or use a hair dryer.

Changing the coils is easy. Just unscrew them from the tank base. It's easier to wash them like that, too.
When reinstalling, run it down till the seals contact, then another 1/8th turn. Once a week is plenty, unless you want to clean between flavors. I sometimes go a month. Disassemble the tank into every piece it comes, drop them in a small plastic cup, add hot water and dish soap, stir wil your fingers. Dump the water and repeat. Then rinse and lay out on a paper towel to dry. If you use a small wire mesh kitchen strainer to rinse, it will prevent you from washing a small o-ring down the drain.

The deal about cloud is some people think its impressive. I don't, particularly. Fun to blow cloud occasionally, but I don't do it a lot. You're right about VG being thicker, and PG carrying flavor. One thing you didn't mention is PG also gives throat hit. A lot of people go to high VG juices to cut that down. Nicotine guves more throat hit-- a lot more-- than PG, and it tastes terrible, a bitter, alkaloid taste. Not surprising, nicotine is a bitter alkaloid. While you still need high doses to wean off the sticks, you're just going to have to tolerate it.

Your taste buds will begin to heal almost Immediately, and it gets better as you go aling.

And I don't know anything about WTA

Thank you for that info! That really explains a lot of what I am experiencing.
I am using a fairly high nicotine, so that explains the bitterness I often experience.

I am not experiencing this throat hit phenomenon yet. At least nothing uncomfortable or noticeable. And believe me, I am doing some serious sucking on this baby!

I am sucking directly to my lungs, at 12W, so am surprised I am not feeling it. Definitely tasting the bitterness, though.

Thank you for the info on cleaning the tanks.

Question:
How will I know if my coils are burnt? I have heard this mentioned. Can you tell by looking at them? I have read here that it gives a burnt, not good taste. Is that correct? It will be noticeable? As I mentioned, it tastes bitter, a lot now, so yay, another bad taste to experience!

I am going taste testing today, so maybe I will be able to find some flavors that aren't so bitter?!?!?!

But the good news is 3 days cigg free!
And I haven't snapped anyone's head off.
( so far at least, ha ha )

@czarina - First...way to go on resisting the urge to go get some smokes! Going straight from smoking as much as you did per day, to only vaping is a BIG jump in my opinion. I tapered off over a period of 2 months to totally switch over to vaping. I smoked for 42 years, and never more than 1 1/2 packs a day of ultra lights. My problem was more the "hand to mouth" addiction I think. Tried everything else to quit, bu only vaping worked for me. It's been 2 years this coming January 14th since I totally got off ciggies.

About this that you posted: "Does anyone have suggestions for flavors, and where to purchase them?
I am not a mint person. I like creams and fruit flavors."

I order all my e-liquids from VapeBig.com, and most of the 10 people I've helped locally to switch to vaping get theirs from there as well. He's located only 15 miles from me in Lakeland, FL, so I get it the next day by mail. He doesn't have a physical store, just the website you order through.

They have a huge selection of flavors, and Aaron (the owner) gladly makes them to whatever ratio of PG/VG that you want. He'll even do a "flavor boost" if you ask for it. You just leave a note in the Order Notes section to specify your PG/VG ratio and if you want a Flavor Boost. Also...it's extremely inexpensive compared to other places!! He sells the usual smaller quantities, but also 150mL for only $39.99, which is really cheap compared to most places. The S/H is like $3.00 to anywhere in the US. If you order $40+ though, S/H is FREE! I always just add a blunt tip 10mL empty bottle that's about $1.10 to my order so it reaches the $40.

I LOVE his Vanilla Bean flavor, and most of my "switchers" like it as a favorite, too. However, some of them and I have also gotten hooked on the "NanerBerry", which is wonderful, too. Others I've tried from him have been the Coffee, Mint Chocolate, and Banana Creme. Those are good as well, but the Vanilla Bean and NanerBerry are the top winners for me personally.

Again, way to go on your journey to vaping only! You've made a terrific leap so far. You should feel very proud of yourself.
