Well hello everyone.

I am going to be completely honest here because where would beating around the bush get me?
I am new to the E-cig experience. I bought one yesterday and it is ok I guess. Paid $60 CAD.
I am not really to happy with the battery life or the taste to be honest. I was told the battery would last 6 hours but its more like 3 hours or less. The cartridges don't last that long about 20 puffs... and after the first 2 puffs it tastes like I lit the wrong end of a real cig (barf) (like hot melting fiberglass)

I want to find the Cadillac of e-cigs this is a neat little invention but I'm not the smoke 3 cigs a day type of guy. Until recently I smoked 1.5 packs a day and loved every minute of it. I cut down to about 15 cigs a day now and I wanted to switch right over to e-cigs but this thing isn't cutting it.

Woke up this morning and smoked the e-cig for the first 3 hours went through 2 cartridges and it tasted terrible after the first few puffs off each. Had to leave and the batt was dead so i ended up smoking about 4 cigs while i was out. When I got home I went back to the e-cig but it only lasted about 1 hour before the batt died now I am sitting here thinking Did I just waste $60 on a pos?

I want something that lasts all day or comes with extra battery's at least, Same size as a king size smoke or slightly larger, looks like a real smoke, gives lots of vapor and hits the back of my throat like a canon. And tastes real if not really close. Any help would be Awesome.

Cheers,
Dan

What unit do you have? I used to have the automatic kind (no button to push) that looks like a larger version of a real cigarette and takes a cartomizer that needs to be filled with liquid. I found the throat hit and flavor to be really weak and the unit started to perform worse after a couple weeks so I tried a 510 (eGo from Liberty Flights) and I totally love it. Throat hit is awesome, it produces more vapor than a cigarette produces smoke and the battery lasts no fewer than 5 hours and that's when I'm home all day and mainlining it. No matter what unit you have, if you can't go more than a couple hours without it you should always have 2 batteries. I find dripping juice into the atomizer the most satisfying as far as taste and vapor go, but it can be a bit of a nuisance to drip every couple minutes. I haven't found a cartridge or cartomizer that works anywhere near as well, unfortunately.

Hmmmm, lets break this down:

1)Same size as a king size smoke or slightly larger,
2)looks like a real smoke,
3)gives lots of vapor
4)and hits the back of my throat like a canon."

These four attributes are going to be very tough to achieve in the same e-cig yotadan. If you can drop wish 1 & 2 that makes things much, mush easier. I think you can find a start to points 3 & 4 if you get an eGo starter kit hooked up to a 306LR atty. Your batts won't last all day though pumpin out power to the 306's. IMHO, the second choice if you want to really toke away all day and skip the trial and error so many go through (including myself) would be a good 18650 mod like a Maxi Rough Stack hooked up to a 306LR. This though strays waaaayyyyyyy past point 1 & 2 due to the size of an 18650 batt mod.

agree. only way to get even close on 1&2 is to have a PCC and multiple batteries, that way the one you are not using is charging. I started with a 510 kit and charging case, it definitely got the job done.

on the other hand, the EGO batts last me nearly all day and not uncomfortable in size at all.

O.T. Rockproof, love the Avi........nice stripe!

IMHO I think even with a 510 PCC Don, he may be lacking on 3 & 4 until he steps up the mah's a bit. My recommendation for an 18650 comes from the fact that I have found Nirvana with the 306LR where vapor and TH are concerned. Due to simple power consumption, not even the venerable eGo can handle one of these bad boys for more than 2-3 hrs...unless you get the eGo PCC also (with maybe an eGo pass through thrown in for good measure).

BTW Don, thats a Rock up here in the NE:p

I would recommend getting over the "look like a cig" The ego or riva will last you 5-6 hours solid. I leave the house with 2 fully charged in the morning and never run out. They actually have lasted me the last 2 days. I also keep 2 new ones in the drawer in case one goes down. The are the same size as a swisher sweet, but a litte shorter. They even make a white one I believe, but my black one is sharp. Get some vapor for life 510 cartos prefilled, and that will be nice for you. or try the lr310s as mentioned. heard great things about getting great vape and flavor with them.

Wow thanks for the fast responses.
I have been researching this for hours.

I Have been looking at the sizes of the ones recommended, the reviews and what not on you-tube. Before I posted I was really looking into the 510 but I don't even know what I should be looking for as far as quality goes as I just got into this yesterday.

I got the Health E-cigarette from a local guy. Its not that bad but its just not what I need. I like the whole LED thing on the end and all that its pretty cool, its small and easy to hold but I think I just need something with more kick and longer batt life.

I think I messed something up when I put the first cartridge in yesterday as I sucked in a bunch of liquid when I took a drag, after that I was feeling sick for a few hours. I have noticed that it makes the back of my throat feel kind of like i have a cold but without getting the hit you get from a cig.

I sure did like what I saw when I watched the videos of the eGo and the 306LR atty lots of "vapor" and they guy seemed really happy with it. On the other hand it seems like a pretty big unit, about the size of a cigar almost.

I think the 510 looks pretty good as well.

I have also been looking into the flavored liquid from Alien vision as I have read some pretty good things about them so far.

Wow ok so I just grabbed one of the refill cartridges that I bought on the side with the e-cig and they are WAY better than the ones that came with it. I punctured the top with a fork and screwed it in then tapped it LED down on the padded arm of my computer chair, took a drag and have gotten 7 pretty good hits so far and enough vapor off each to blow about 6 smoke rings.

Sorry for the scatter brained post.

Are there any Canadian dealers I can check out to grab a 510 and or the eGO 306LR, or what the deal is with shipping from the states as I have read it is a pain in the ....

Is there some reason why the government of Canada does not allow these to be sold in stores are they bad for you or something? I have heard that nicotine is not bad for you just all the other stuff in cigs.

Cheers,
Dan

You must have been watching Phee and his review on the eGo/LR306 review. He really loves that combo! The unit really isn't that big, all things considered. It does look more like a cigar, but it fits well even in my tiny hands. My eGo 900mah is only slightly bigger and both units will fit into my open hand with a CE2R4 XL cartomizer attached. The Riva batt will last about 8 hours of heavy vaping before I charge it. The eGo batt will last from the time I get up at 5AM until I go to bed at around 9 or 10PM before I throw it on the charger. Neither battery has been completely drained, either.

What you heard about nicotine is correct, but some people can't be bothered with the facts. They have been convinced by the so-called "experts" that it's still smoking and smoking is bad, therefore it must be banned. No one really knows right now if vaping is better for you. At this point, it sure is a hell of a lot better for you. Many here will tell you about their improved health since they took up vaping, including me. My doctors are actually happy that I've made the switch!

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the overall performance. You just won't get good consistency, throat hit and battery life until you move up to a better battery device. At a minimum I would get an eGo or Riva 510 device. Better yet is a 5 volt PV that can give you up to 8-10 hours on a charge and the consistency you can't get with smaller devices. Definitely get a manual battery and stay clear of auto batteries. You might want to check out this summary site for many of the better battery devices: Best e-Cig Mod List | e-Cig Mods Database

My doctor told me that "without a doubt" using a personal vaperizer is 100% better than smoking.

Wow...some importer must be going crazy up in Canada with those "Health e-cigarette" kits. I've seen several new Canadian members posting about this kit lately. If it's the kit that comes in the black plastic cigarette pack-like case, with the built in USB plug, those wholesale for under $10. I actually have a couple of these left. If you have the kit I'm talking about the 510 cartomizer/atomizer will fit (510 is slightly larger diameter). The 306 atomizer will fit nicely (same diameter). If you do indeed have the kit I'm thinking of, and you're getting 3 hours out of it, then even a 510 will be a big upgrade for you since the "Health e-cigarette" battery is a L88 sized (think blucig) battery....which, depending on who you listen to, range from 50-80mAh while a good 510 battery is around 180mAh.

Below is a pic of the "Health e-cigarette" next to a 510 (manual)

Well...nevermind. The picture uploader is a big fail again.

to the TS, do you like menthol? because i am stuck with an njoy pro i bought at a 7-11 and i cant really spend any money on what i want which is a "Riva Ego" until after christmas...i picked it up at the 7-11 and it at least introduced me to ecigs, but i found the Menthol flavour to accually taste close to an analog menthol, but the regular flavour tasted like plain cough syrup! heck not even generic tussin!!! the menthol carts were close and it is tying me over until i can get the Riva lol.

Well figured I would give an update on my e-cig experience. I have stopped smoking the e-cig I bought because when I woke up monday morning I felt sick and my throat was killing me. Still feel a little ....ty... Don't think I over did smoking the e-cig as I still wanted to smoke analogs and I did end up smoking about 5 on sunday as well as using the e-cig. I think it might be the e-cig I bought or maybe I am allergic to the other ingredient in the carts? Is this a normal thing when switching or is it uncommon? I really felt terrible yesturday and am still feeling like I got a strep throat or something.

When you vape you need to drink water. It can dry out your throat. Drink extra water and that should help. I haven't had that issue yet, but I have read several others who do/did. But I also knew about the water thing and do drink a couple bottles of water every day. Also you may need to up your vg and lower the pg in your liquid. Some people also seem to have trouble with the pg in the juices. But for sure up your water intake and see if that helps.

+1 on the dehydration factor. Also be aware that getting off cigarettes has it's own set of symptoms. There is a ton of information within these forums in the New Member area as well as on the web. Start with general searches on "Quitting Smoking". Read the effects on that so you can gain a better understanding of what's really going on.

People tell smokers all the time; "Why don't you just quit?"
Simple answer; Because it makes you feel like crap.

Well about the water issue, I did drink alot of water on Sunday for some reason but didnt know why. Perhaps that was my body telling me I was dehydrated? I don't know much about quoting smoking but the only thing I remember from when I quit 9 years ago was that I was yelling at anyone who talked to me. I am not really trying to quit smoking, just want to find a healthier option I guess. Don't know what vg or pg is I am pretty new to this but from what I have read online so far I bought one of the crappy e-cigs.
I just want to stay as close to analogs as possible in taste and feel as they have been part of my life for years and its like just one day saying I'm never going to eat chicken anymore only beef I have to say I really love smoking.
