Tried vaping for the first time today. Writing my experience and some questions also.

I am in India and most of the e-cigs are available only online and not in stores. I have been thinking about it for a few months but didn't try it because I don't like buying stuff without seeing it. Today I found a shop which stocks e-cigs and e-cig starter kits but they were out of stock. But they did have a disposable e-cig (it's from a company called SGS - I think it's a local company - and the cover said E-Hookah/E-Shisha). So I bought the Disposable E-Cig and tried it out.

I am a smoker 20+ years. I used to smoke around 8-10 cigs a day. For the last couple of years, reduced to around 3 cigs a day.

The Disposable E-Cig I bought today said "600 puffs". I liked it but I think ended up smoking more than normally do - I am not sure why
- is it because it's more convenient - no need to buy frequently, no need to light up
- is it because I wasn't satisfied by it?
- I had it in my car while driving for an hour and I had 3-4 sessions with the e-cig while driving because it was just lying by my side

I'll probably know in a day or two whether it helps me stop smoking regular cigs.

My questions are
- When a cig or a cartridge says 100 puffs or 500 pufs - how does it translate into number of cigarettes - I have no idea how many puffs I get from a regular cig?
- What exactly is the smoke coming from the cig - is it evaporated nicotine? What happens when it goes into your lungs/mouth/throat?
- If you end up quitting regular cigs but end up smoking more of e-cigs, then is it worth it if you end up taking more nicotine you were taking with regular cigs (i..e. if I end up smoking the equivalent of 10 ecigs a day as compared to 3 regular cigs)

Smell Questions
- Do ecigs cause the same kind of smell like regular cigs? After 20+ years of smoking, my sense of cig smell is gone & I cannot figure it out. If you smoke in a car, does the car smell? Does a room in which you smoke of cigs? Do your clothes smell?

Is it possible for you to mail-order a longer lasting battery from where you are? I am a new vaper too, and I started out with the little cigarette-like e-cigs... and they dont' last long enough to be worth it. I would try to buy a bigger and longer lasting battery... recharging is frustrating, and buying disposables costs more than cigarettes! (vaping is MUCH cheaper than cigarettes if you do it right).

I smoked for decades, and after only 4 days, I've cut back to about 4 real cigs a day without even trying!!

What is coming from the puffs is evaporated water vapor plus nicotine, plus flavoring, plus either vegetable glycerin (humectant found in the body naturally too) or propylene glycol (used in vaccinations and inhalers as a dilutant).

Is it worth it to smoke MORE nicotine in an e-cig than normal cigarettes? YES! Because it's the TAR in smoking that damages your health. There's a study (don't have link handy) that says that there is NO 2nd hand smoke from E-cigs. You not only don't hurt yourself, you don't hurt the people around you.

Does an e-cig smell like cigarettes? NO. Also, there are many flavors if you expand to e-liquids... some smell yummy:).

Pay no attention to what a disposable says about puffs or how many ciggs it is equal to.
The "smoke" from an e cig is vapor from propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, nicotine and flavorings.
You may end up vaping more than you smoke the nicotine absorbs into Your body differently, someone else will come along and explain that better than I can.
It is not the nicotine in ciggs that is harmful it's the many many other chemicals and the actual SMOKE that is harmful. So even much much more vape is not as harmful as smoke.
No e-cigs do not smell like regular ciggs at all, almost odorless, I refer to what ever smell there is as aroma, and trust it is way more pleasant then smoke. There isn't much of it, sometimes none, and it does't linger.
And if You continue to vape the smell and taste you lost will come back.

welcome to the forum. browse thru the posts here, watch you tube videos, and ask questions most importantly Vape On

You have lots of questions. I will try and answer to the best of my ability and how I understand it. But also there is a lot of info on this forum so kick back and enjoy some reading.

That is very subjective in that different people smoke differently.

Most all e-liquids are food grade. The liquids are mostly PG/Propylene Glycol/ VG/ Vegetable Glycerine concentrated flavors and Nicotine which in the right circumstance really is no more harmful than caffeine (declaimer) although there really hasn't been any long term studies.

Yes and No it is actually just a vapor.

Anyway welcome to ECF and kick back read and enjoy yourself.

Welcome to vaping. I am also relatively new to e-cigs, having stopped smoking last January. I think most would agree that e-cigs do not cover the entire spectrum of chemicals one experiences with smoking tobacco. You will experience some sense of missing something, but if you stick with it that will go away. In the interim, you will smoke more e-cigs, perhaps in an effort to find the missing something. I quit cigarets 3 times over a period years, but in the end went back to smoking because I just enjoyed smoking. With e-cigs, many of the things I missed are covered, resulting in my success to date.

Your concern with using more nicotine with e-cigs is offset by the number of other chemicals found in tobacco smoke which are much more harmful to you health. In my experience, it is much more cost effective to use e-cigs than tobacco, unless you get hooked on all the variety of products available and turn this into a hobby with frequent purchases just to try something new.

E-cigs are much safer than regular cigarettes because e-cigarettes only have pharmaceutical nicotine(tobacco derived), a mix of PG/VG and food grade flavorings. Regular cigarettes have nicotine in the form of tobacco, and about 4000 other harmful, carcinogenic chemicals including tar!!
Also you may smoke more on an e-cigarette because we actually absorb less nicotine from them. So even though you are smoking more, you are not probably getting more nicotine. This is because the molecules from smoke are tiny and are absorbed easily into our lungs. Nicotine in vapor is in much larger molecules and are absorbed less efficiently. We actually absorb more nicotine in our mouths than our lungs when we vape.
I hope this answers some of your questions....

Good Luck!

I'm a new vaper too, about four months. I can tell you how it worked for me I like you only smoked around eight cigs a day. The first ecig I used was a disposable Blu. If that was all that was available I would still be smoking but happily for me I got online and bought a kit with 2 1000 mah twist ego batteries and a couple of tanks with some Ry4 ejuice, both my husband and self started vaping the day we got the kit and have not touched a cig since. With the stronger battery it was much more satisfying than the little ecig. This site has been a great resource for us and I'm sure it will be for you too. Good luck and keep on vaping !

Just looking for a ballpark figure. The guy who sold the disposable to me said that the 600 puffs mentioned on the disposable translates to around 8 regular cigarettes.

Welcome. The puffs each disposable or cartridge is supposed to have is just a way to give smokers some idea, some point of reference. I'm lucky if I get 30 puffs on most of the disposables I have gotten from gas stations and such.

Mine cost around Rs. 475 (around 8$) & it's lasted far more than 30 puffs till now.

My MVP2 has just lasted for 4 days without a charge (I vape CONTINUOUSLY all day long). I charged it for the first time yesterday... it was not drained... it had a yellow light instead of red (red means drained). It took less than 1/2 an hour to fully charge from that point... after 4 days of no charge.

You can shop around for the best prices, but isn't it cheaper to order direct from China if you are in India? There's a big sale at a China vendor here:
http://www.fairy-gift.com/itase-mvp-v20-p-58.html

The MVP2 is on discount already, plus free shipping (to the US, don't know about India), plus another 12% off coupon code at the top of the screen. That means you'll get the MVP delivered for $58, if they will give you the same deal in India as they do for US buyers.

I've only started vaping recently, and this is my first real machine... but others seem to love it too, and it can't be easier to use. I just read the directions, filled it with juice and started vaping.

Today was the first time I washed out my free clearomizers that came with it (I got the 2x iclear16 kit). One of them had slightly burnt coils, other was fine. I followed directions on a Youtube video for burning/cleaning coils, and they are both working as good as new again.

So NOT counting the money I spent on little batteries and cartos, I've spent money only on a few ml of juice and the MVP2, and have been vaping away for 5 days. Well, in those 5 days, I have paid for 1/2 the cost of my unit, just in cigarette pack savings (a pack of cigarettes here costs roughly $5). In another week, I'll have saved enough to pay for all my juices for a couple of months (I'm going DIY tho).

If the machine holds up for 6 months... I will have saved enough just cigarette $$ to buy 6 MP2's, juice and replacement coils for the iclears. But judging by the care in manufacturing of the unit I have, I see no reason it will die in 6 months (but I'm sure I'll need to replace the insides of my iclears at least a few times, which are $2 each).

As for how long your little ones will last... 8 cigarettes doesn't sound right. I would guestimate at least a pack or 2 packs even, but you'll have to charge the battery a few times.

Hi and welcome to ECF. Best to search YouTube for reviews...won't have the PV in hand but will give you an idea.

When a cig or a cartridge says 100 puffs or 500 pufs - how does it translate into number of cigarettes - I have no idea how many puffs I get from a regular cig?
Hard to tell. Most disposable batteries are about 180+ mah. 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping. The also generally hold about 1 ml juice.

What exactly is the smoke coming from the cig - is it evaporated nicotine? What happens when it goes into your lungs/mouth/throat?
The juice is flavoring, nicotine, PG and VG. PG and VG are humectants. They trap the moisture in our mouth, throat and lungs and thus the vapor. Vaping is very dehydrating- drink lots of water.

If you end up quitting regular cigs but end up smoking more of e-cigs, then is it worth it if you end up taking more nicotine you were taking with regular cigs (i..e. if I end up smoking the equivalent of 10 ecigs a day as compared to 3 regular cigs)
Vaping is a far less efficient means of delivering nicotine than smoking. Vape particles are far too large to be absorbed via the lungs- most absorption takes place in the mouth and nasal areas.
When smoking realize there are over 4000 chemicals we are inhaling. Add to that the many known carcinogens and tar which buries and paralyzes the lung cilia.
It's far less expensive to buy a rechargeable battery and fill your own cartomizers, clearomizers, etc.
Best of Luck.

The disposable lasted for around 3 days.

I now got non-disposables. I got a Green Smoke starter kit and cartridges. This was the only brand available at the shop. The starter kit cost around 10$. It contains a USB adapter, wall charger and car apapter, 1 battery and a pack of 10 cartridges. Each extra pack of 10 cartridges costs around 2$. I got 1 orange flavoured cartridge and 1 regular. The regular was OK, but the orange one was kind of leaking - I mean I could feel liquid in my mouth. I threw it away and smoked the regular one - that wasn't bad. I prefer the disposable, but it's much more expensive - around 9$ for 1 disposable.

But even this wasn't bad. I have one question - how do you distinguish between when the battery is drained out and when the cartridge is over?
