Hi everybody! Great site...I hope to find a lot of information here. I am a TOTAL newb to this. I received a little starter kit for Christmas (hoping to kick analogs, as you kind folk call them). The kit was from Never Light Again and consists of their "Prestige" model which is almost identical to a Marlboro 100 in size and appearance. It is a 2-piece model, with a prefilled (but refillable) "cartomizer" thingy. It came with a small bottle of medium strength (16mg) "Marlboro" flavored liquid.

I've been using it off and on for the last day or so, and find it very enjoyable. Only problem is...I have no idea what the model # is, or where to buy stuff for it other than the NLA website. I don't see a model # on it anywhere; although on the USB charger it says L-101A. Does anyone know what I have? I want to buy some extra cartomizers and batteries, but I want to make sure they are compatible with what I have. No luck so far, and hoping someone here can steer me in the right direction.

BTW, I'm not opposed to going in a different direction completely and getting a whole new starter kit of some other make/model if that's what I need to do. Thanks!

That's probably a good starting point but seems like you're headed in another direction already! You will find the eGo Mega is a forum favorite - best bang for the buck PV. They are easy to find parts, cartomizers, atomizers, chargers. Everything that fits a 510 (except the ego turbo charger). Battery life is great. Lasts a day easy. I started like you....ciggie looking, then eGo, then mod!
The eGo starter kits are reasonable. Everyone has their favorite vendors. Mine are Electro nic stix and MadVapes. Super T Manufacturing when you're ready to totally blow your cigarette allowance! :)

Welcome ValleyGirl and congratulations!. I am not familiar with your make, but I am sure someone else will be. I got my starter kit from SmokeStik, and it is still what I use. It is also a two-piece. I personally prefer two-pieces, and I do refill.
There is alot of information on this site, and my suggestion is to go slow, and resist the urge to feel you must buy one of everything!! You will need some more juice, and I would suggest you buy some. If someone is familiar with your brand, you maybe able to buy some more cartomizers to refill. If not, you may have to buy a new kit.

Best wishes!

Does 16 mg work for you, or do you still have a strong urge to smoke? If you smoke regular cigs and/or are in the pack a day zone you may well need a stronger juice.

Be ready to get a barrage of recommendations, likely mainly being 510/Riva/eGo and KR808D-1 (808). Both are solid, pluses and minuses.

Looks like an RN4081 crystal tip battery. I couldn't see the cartridge connector well enough in the pics but it looks like the way Shenzhen 1st Union packages their cartos and the threads on it look the same. Doesn't appear to be an 808d. Not a terrible product, just a bit overpriced but not as bad as some. At least they gave you some eliquid for refilling. Either post a picture of the thread ends of the battery and cartomizer or maybe someone else here has already identified the model but i'd put money on the RN4081. Keep doing your research here as you encounter issues and keep trying.... there is a progression in knowledge that you will need to get of cigs for good but you can make it.

Hi ValleyGirl, and welcome to ECF and the world of vaping. I went to the NLA website and couldn't see where it said what kind of equipment their models use at all. Maybe someone else will come along that has some experience with this brand.

I currently use a 510 (which I love) that I got from AltSmoke. The battery life is fairly short (compared to other e-cigs), but that's why I also have spare batteries and a PCC. If you want to go with a good vape with longer battery life, you might want to look into getting an eGo. I've also heard good things about the kr808D-1's (aka kr8). The 510 and kr8 look the most like an analog (in size, although the kr8 is longer). I don't know if that is one of your prerequisites or not. All of these models can be bought in Starter Kits that are relatively inexpensive.

I've been on my Riva since yesterday, its pretty much the same as the eGo. Battery lasts nearly half my day, no complaints there.

One tip that I found is after smoking an analog offered by a coworker and getting a pretty heavy nic-buzz, don't skimp on the amount or strength of your vape. I was obviously not getting enough nic in my system so now i'm hitting bigger and a bit more frequently. The thoughts of going out for an old analog have subsided to near nothing today.

Welcome!! I've been at this for a couple weeks now myself and like you I stated with one kit and then within a week moved on to a joye 510 and within the second week moved on to a joye eGo (I am VERY happy with both by the way). There is a TON of great info on this forum and it's very tempting to try EVERYTHING!! With that said, you may not "need" to move on from your current kit if it's working for you, but your research may uncover another model that fits your needs and your pocketbook better, as was the case with me. Either way, congrats on taking the steps to quit analogs, your lungs will love you for it!!

Be well

I've done pretty much the same thing - eGo's in the mail. Not so bad (I tell myself) since a new kit is still less than the cost of a carton of smokes. It took a while when I first started smoking to settle on a favorite brand, too. Best wishes to you ValleyGirl - and welcome!

Not sure what your model is. The cartomizers of your model have the threads on them rather than the battery. So it is not a KR808D-1 but could be either an RN4081 or even a 510 battery with a carto? Hard to tell. Both are decent mini models if it's one of those.

Scroll down here to "The other cartomizers" and see if those cartos look like yours. If so, I think it lists a few suppliers though they may be blanks rather than prefills.
WWV Part IV (page 6) | Vaping Guides

If it's an RN4081 it's not a bad model to start with (fatter than a cigarette right? 102mm long and 9.3 diameter?). It makes a lot of vapor and it's a mini. This board tends to push people towards larger big-battery models but not everyone needs those. Buy some RN4081 cartos and see if they fit/work with your PV?

If you are more interested in prefilled cartos, then I would recommend a different unit - KR808D-1 aka "Vapor King" at Vapor4Life.com where lots of filled cartos for KR8 are sold.

And then there are cartridge models like the 510. 510 is a flexible PV with a variety of expansion options, but in its basic cigarette-size form would have less battery life and possibly less taste (if you use carts+atty rather than cartos) than an RN4081 or KR808D-1. There is a possibility your unit is a 510 with a carto rather than an RN4081.
This is what 510 cartomizers look like

Thanks so much for the quick responses! Yes, it's working okay...and yes I think I need to up my nic level also as I'm not *quite* satisfied with the 16mg. I think the threads on the cartomizer look the most like the rn4081, but I don't want to end up with a bunch of components that I can't use so I'm really leaning towards just getting a more common model. The NLA site seems pretty expensive and not a very good selection. I'm planning on ordering some goodies today - most likely will get another starter kit of some sort + some extra juice/batteries/cartomizers....OMGEEEEE I can't wait :) Again, thanks for the warm welcome and quick responses...makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

I kind of doubt that it is a 510, though I haven't seen which one it actually is. The RN4081, as previously noted, is pretty common for the quasi-proprietary "branded" PVs. It's definitely not an 808D-1, since the cartos are male threaded while an 808 is female. Here's a picture of RN4081 cartos:

If it works for you, super, otherwise cut-and-run, pick up something with wide availability.

welcome valley girl. I think changing over to a more "common" make is a good idea. Vaperforlife
Vapor4Life-Because it's your life - E-Cigarettes/Smoking Alternatives KR808
or maybe an ego or riva
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510
are about the 2 most ommon. The above 2 links are great vendors and for the best deal going the riva at $29 and $2.99 priority shipping is hard to beat. V4L has been running 30% off deals so their kits are a great buy also.

I use both, (get bored easily) but I haven't smoked an anolog in 3 months

good luck and welcome

vapor4life is running a really good sale on KR808D-1 batteries, Battery33 for 33% off. vaporetc has good regular price on 808 starter kits (coupon vapezone), and I've had consistent good experience with NHaler (saveinnj). With these 808 kits you buy prefilled cartomizers, which you can then refill with a separate bottle of eliquid (juice).

If you're more adventurous, don't mind filling your own cartomizers right from the start and don't mind a manual battery (little pushbutton on the side) that's really not going to look very cigarette-like, liberty flights riva 510 kits for $30 are an excellent deal (using their october20 20% off coupon code). vapor-pure has been having a really super sale on the Riva 510 kits, $24 delivered, though they are out of stock (more ought to be in this week, hopefully). With the Riva 510s I like what is called a boge 2 ohm cartomizer, from litecigusa, or NHaler, or liberty flights (lf out of stock on them last I checked); others like atomizers and dripping -- it all depends how much work you want to put in, I just like to fill a cartomizer and be ready to vape for several hours.

An eGo is basically the same as a Riva 510 -- a "fat batt" unit that gives a lot longer run time between recharges than a standard 510 battery. Joye eGo is the original -- Riva is actually a knock-off made by another company, though good quality.

Lots of choices -- good luck!

That seems to be a common upgrade path, myself included; ciggie style -> eGo/Tornado/Riva/Inferno/Leo -> mod PV

Welcome ValleyGirl. Your posts are very definitive of your username and location. "Thingy" and "OMGEEEEE" kinda gave it away. Lol. I wouldn't be surprised if I actually knew you in person.

Anyway, hopefully you found the right threading for your pv now that you're ordering more parts. Juice is subjective to flavor, but I agree that if 16mg isn't quite satisfying your nic fix, then it might not hurt to go up to 24mg. Glad you like your starter kit, and I'm sure the upgrades to different pv's will feel natural, as it is to most of us.
