I can see this working for me right away. I was a heavy smoker for over 25 years!! I have not smoking in two days and not thought about it either. I think its great. Now I want to know how do people quit the e cigarette? My goal is to quit all together! How did you do it? Can it be done? Please let me hear how experienced e smokers quit the e cigarette. I see many people dont want to and thats fine, but my goal is to get off nicotine ! Help me with a PLAN!!! Thanks so much Marilyn

Typically, people switch to lower and lower nic levels in their juice and focus on more flavor. When you get down to the zero nic level, the physical addiction is gone, and you are left with the "process" addiction. After that, you just need to decide to stop. Decrease your frequency and find other activities to fill up your normal smoking time.

Good luck!

that sounds about right. The great thing about e-cigs is that they mess with the "timing" of smoking (you have to finish the smoke, it lasts for 6 1/2 minutes, there's an urgency to smoke while you can ie: before you go into the theatre, before you get to work, before you go into the restaurant, in-laws house, whatever) but with e-cigs the pressure is off. The urgency is gone. I think it would be easier to quit vaping than it ever was trying to quit smoking, I don't intend to ever quit vaping though.

thanks so much , yes I am going to lower the nic. level. Thanks so much. I just am scared Im going to be hooked on vaping. Good observation about the time/urgency thing. Never thought about it that way.

At least, if you're hooked on vaping, it will be a cheaper, safer, healthier habit. Still beats the pants off of the alternative.

Hi Marilyn!

I echo what was said here . . . basically you can use your e-cig as you would a patch where you step down in strength gradually.

However, I wouldn't expect much of a response from someone who has successfully quit the ecig. It seems once someone does they just drop off the forums because they don't want to think about it and be tempted by new gear, new flavors, etc.

Good Luck To You!

thanks being a newbie I had no choice but to post this here. I do plan on stepping down. Right now I am on the 16 or 24. So when I hit full time the 16 we shall see. This is going to be interesting breaking this nicotine addiction. Its alot easier than the patch. The patch was not even working well for me. I hope I can do this. Thanks all!! I will fill you in.

You should be able to drop your nicotine level so slowly that you never actually notice it. Patches start off at 21mg, then immediately drop by 1/3 to 14mg. With the PV, you could drop 2mg at a time if you wanted to. And as others have mentioned, once you're at 0 nic, the physical cravings will be gone. If, when you've decided to quit the PV, you do "cheat" a little, you can vape 0 nic and not be risking addiction all over again. It's incredible to have this much control over my addiction at last. :)

Of course, to do gradually reduce the nicotine content of your juice, you will have to learn a little bit about how to mix your own juice! We have a DIY-eLiquid sub-forum, where you can get all the advice you want. You'll need to make 10 posts before you can start a thread anywhere except here (nothing against new members, it's to keep down the spam).
