.jpgHello all, thanks for reading.

I posted this earlier in a different forum but I did not realize there was a forum specifically for the E-cig type I have.

I started vaping on the Blu and loved it at first but realized I was ready for something more substantial.

I bought the Vivi Nova and a battery & also have an Ego battery that I can use (Here's a picture of my setup: imgur: the simple image sharer - the black battery was given to me by a friend and is from an Ego)

My problem is that unlike the Blu, which has minor throat hit and is VERY smooth, this has a very severe throat hit and literally hurts after 2-3 puffs. These are not large hits either, I have seen people blow CLOUDS of smoke with this device and I am taking a hit much smaller and still getting severe throat irritation.

I am not sure what to do. I have seen videos of people messing with the atomizers. I've seen batteries with adjustable voltage, and I've heard the pg/vg (whatever that means) of your juice can have a big difference (mine is not labeled.)

Any tips or advice you can provide would be nice. I really want to like this but it's simply not enjoyable to smoke.

I ordered some Johnson Creek e-juice because that is what Blu fills their carto's with -- hoping for better results.

Thanks for reading!!

Thoughts?

Take a look at your vivi's box and see if it says "Vision" on it. From the looks of that picture you don't have the latest version of the Vision Vivi Nova, or you have a knockoff. The coil head shouldn't have that cone shaped piece protruding out of the rubber grommet if you have the latest version. I had the same issues when I bought what I thought was genuine Vivi Novas. They where knockoffs and didn't work at all. Here is a thread I started concerning that issue I had with pics of the two side by side.

To help with your other question about the pg/vg. PG is propylene glycol and VG is vegetable glycerin. The are the two base liquids that E juice is made with. Most e liquids are made with a percentage of both.

PG is a thinner liquid that is more flavorful but has less vapor.

VG is a thicker liquid that is less flavorful but has much better vapor.

Most liquids use a combination of both to try and get the best of both worlds. I personally use juices with a 50/50 mix.

Also the voltage of your battery is 3.7 volts and will work best with lower ohm coil heads 1.8-2.0 ohms. If you had a Variable voltage battery like the ego twist you could adjust the voltage to make the vaper warmer or cooler. You'd also be able to get more use out of different OHM coils. The battery's in the pic are a great step up from the Blu, I suspect your issue is the Vivi Nova. It's what I've been using for quite some time now and have had no issues at all. It's a great product, but there are some folks that don't like them for different reasons. Also as a side note, the more research you do the more headaches and money you will save yourself :D. Good luck!!

I have an arsenal of both the genuine Vision ViVi Nova 2.5s and a few knock-offs with no problems, but my girlfriend couldn't handle ANY of my juices because they all made her throat hurt. Turns out she has a sensitivity to PG. PG produces a harsher throat hit and getting her some straight VG juice eliminated the problem for her.
Most online sellers offer reduced PG (or straight VG) options. Hint- order extra favoring if that's an option because, as previously mentioned, higher VG content reduces flavor intensity. Be careful not to overdo it though. Having them add too much can result in a chemical taste.
Final note- keep spare atomizer heads on hand and clean your tank between fillings. Be sure your order the right type of coil heads for your tank

Any smoker who takes a hit off my Vision clearo (similiar to the Vivi) always coughs / gags. I use 24mg. It's pretty strong. Like one long hit off the clearo = 3 or 4 puffs off of a cig.

I generally mix down with some VG I buy at Rite Aid. So vaping around 18mg. Smooths out the throat hit. I had this happen with some Halo juices, which I think are heavy on the PG. Chain vaping that dries me out. Also, it's nice to get a variable voltage device (the ego Twist is awesome). If I crank up the volts, I can def. get a sore throat. Enough to make my eyes sting. I usually settle on 4.0 - 4.2 volts on a 2.8 head.
