new atomizer pirmer?

i was wondering if a new atomizer purchased from steve still has the primer juice in it.

I am wondering because i just received my pilot and i think it tastes funny. Kind of weird to describe. I mean this is my first e-cig so i am a newb but i am using the low cart and topping off with 11mg cola that i bought with the e-cig.

yep, they all have a bit of primer on them when they are new....vape away, it will clear.

Not harmful. I'm not sure of this but I think the primer may be some zero flavor, zero nic PG concoction....Suppliers?

Mine definitely had a funky taste for a day or two. It seemed to go away once the atomizer was broke in and vaping like crazy.

Kinda hard to discern which taste is the one you find weird..since you have 3 possibilities..and not sure either which is the one until you isolate them..

Could definitly be primer from the factory which sometimes has a perfumey, weird chemical taste and takes about 30 puffs to get rid of!
But if the taste continues it could be the flavor of the cart that you don't like, or the topping Cola..

I was also wondering how often i should top off the carts for my pilot? Do i do it by looking in the cart and checking for liquid or will it have a funny taste?

One main sign to refill would be vapor dropping off..no flavor hit..

I only have a DSE901 mini which has a small cart and have to top it off quite a lot during the day..almost every 15-20 puffs 2 drops..so if the pilot is comparable in cart size , it could be the same..

well cool! I asked my roomate to try it and asked him if he thought it tasted like it has a "perfumey, weird chemical taste" and he said that's what he was thinking. So I guess ill just vape over it! =D

Hmm I have a feeling my 10mL of cola isn't going to last that long, gonna have to order my sample pack asap! =) Thanks for your guys' help!

Oh another quick question, when topping off is it a good idea to drip one to two drops onto the atomizer or no - just drip onto the cart?

I've had a Pilot for about a week and a half now. It took at least a couple days for the primer taste to wear off. At about the time the primer taste wore off, it also stopped whistling as much, the draw got easier, and it started producing a lot more vapor.

I use a bent out paper clip to push the cart insert up, then drip into it until it looks wet on top. Push the cart back down, put it on the atomizer, and let it sit for about 3 minutes before I start puffing. I found that if I also dripped on the atomizer, it was too much liquid and I'd get some coming out.

One way you could tell if what you're tasting is the primer is to try out another atomizer. If you don't have a spare, I'd strongly recommend you get one ASAP. I had one atomizer that never tasted quite right, and it burned out within a week (I'm pretty sure it was faulty, and it's being replaced ).

Oh and I do have a spare atomizer, it tastes the same as the other one. But i just got this thing today in the mail so neither one is broken in.

I always blow out new atomizers then drip 2 drops of another flavor without inhaling till it's time for refilling. The funky primer taste seems to be mostly gone by then. I don't know why the factory uses that weird flavor for primer, but I sure feel bad for Jo having to test all of them!

i have tasted enough atomizer primer in my days to probably fill a bath tub ...

some shipments taste better than others ... some are sweet, some are downright disturbing ... the shipments that comes with a more sweet priming fluid, I tend to get several emails from people asking where to buy it !!! lol

... but I sure feel bad for Jo having to test all of them!

Jo has had the easy job lately (ie: shipping and labels) the man has been testing/packing/slaving .... the sad part is, then she asks ME for a backrub ... wth ??? LOL

hmm well thanks for everyone's replies! ive been vaping this thing crazy today trying to get rid of the taste - seems like its better but i still can't taste anything else other than this weird flavor. =(
Well i guess ill keep going at it until it gets better! heh'

side note- no analogues since i started! =D
