I've been playing around with the AT42QT1010 capacitive touch sensor for the past few weeks, and have created an auto battery mod that does NOT activate using sound or vibration.

Attached is a quick paint drawing of the mod.

The actual battery box contains the evercool circuitry, with the output of the AT42QT1010 triggering the inhibit pin of the PTR08100W regulator.

The mod fires when your lips hit the copper electrode on the end of the 306 atty sleeve. There is a wire attached to the electrode, ran under the heat shrink tubing, and out of the heat shrink near the bottom of the 306 atty. The wire also has a pin soldered to the battery box side. The battery box has a pin receptacle, to which the electrode wire is plugged in.

I have also made auto-battery adapters for my 510 atty, 510 cartos, 901 atty, and 801 atty using the same principle.

This mod is ONLY triggered when it senses a change in capacitance on the electrode, and so far, the only thing I have found that is able to trigger it is skin, either directly, or via a conductor. I have had NO problems with inadvertent triggering.

If I had access to a machine shop, I'd play with making an atty/carto with a built in isolated electrode on the end of it, perhaps connected to the mod via a stereo headphone jack. 1 conductor for the atty positive, another for the atty ground, and the third for the electrode wire.

sounds pretty interesting.

If you have a or can make a blue print i can make the end peice for you on my lathe and send it to you. Not for sure what you have in mind but should not be a problem. I also have a mill set up so if any operations require that it is not a problem. My project is on hold right waiting on parts so i could use something to do. Just throw me a PM if your interested.

have a few other projects going on right now, i might take you up on that in the future, thanks for the offer!

just noticed I never uploaded the sketch... adding it to the original post now
