Does anyone know if the ritual that the instructions put you through with a new Li-Ion battery (8 hours charge green LED or no, 20 minutes use followed by additional 1 hour charge) is really necessary?
Wow, never heard that one before! New batteries come pre-charged so they are good to go out of the box, granted it's about a 3/4 load. As for the "20 minutes use followed by additional 1 hour charge" that just seems silly to me. I wouldn't worry about it.
"What isn't this America, I thought was America" just watched the World of Warcraft episode of South Park last night....a classic.
Lithium-ion is a very clean system and does not need priming as nickel-based batteries do. The 1st charge is no different to the 5th or the 50th charge. Stickers instructing to charge the battery for 8 hours or more for the first time may be a leftover from the nickel battery days.
That only applies to Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh batteries. Lithium batteries dont have "memory" so they dont need to be drained all the way prior to charging them.
Charge you lithium batteries whenever you feel like it and it wont ruin them.
