Been vaping for a few weeks now with a standard 808

Absorbed a lot of useful information from this forum and initially got the 808 and its cartos for the simplicity. Originally planned on getting prefilled cartos and just chucking them when they were empty but ended getting loads of blanks and am making my own liquid now.

Anyways im in the market for a new battery. Mostly just to try something new. Since i have about 50 empty 808cartos left id like to get something that can fit it so i was initially looking at the V9 Defender and the EC Elegance which seem to be the same thing.

Searching a bit further it seems any modded battery/case thing can hold a 901 either straight or with an adapter. So if it can hold a 901 wouldnt they be able to hold 808cartos also?

If thats the case i was thinking of getting the Xshaler. I like the idea of being able to change out the battery and the option to try HV (or simulated HV) by getting some LV 901s later.

Does this make sense? Is there any benefits to the Defender or the Elegance

I just got an Icon from PS, after the first few hours ALL the other gear I used to use to power an atty just got regulated to emergency use status.
The Icon @3.7v w/LR510 atty & zip tip is just 1/4" taller than a 016 with the same dress-- perfect size IMHO.
Very easy to clean also- you could field strip this thing in seconds, clean it in under a minute & vape the next. It doesn't give you the feeling that your holding a pipe bomb, tho it does have a heft to it. Fully dressed it weighs in @ 3 oz., by way of comparison an 016 rig comes in @ 1.5 oz.

Yes, you are correct and pretty much answered your own question here. The only caveat is that some 901 connectors don't have vent holes in them which the 808 needs to draw properly.

However, unless you're specifically determined to stick with 808 cartos, by the time you spend the money on a mod, batteries, and charger, getting new attys and carts is a pretty minimal portion of the cost.

Here's a good resource on the mods that are available today.

I was reading one post where someone had to do some mechanical adjustments due to some misalignment, and another one regarding a weekly cleaning routine he had that was a bit beyond the simple alcohol wipe down

There was no misalignment in the unit I got, and I haven't owned it very long, so I can't say whether there will be more to cleaning it than the usual alcohol wiped-down, but I'll let you know as time goes by. :)

if anyone is reading this that has an indulgence id like to know if the 2 batteries in the 6v config are very loose in the case

I don't own the extended cup or the 16340 (CR 123) 3.0v batteries, but I know that the extended cup was originally designed to hold the 18650 3.7v batteries, and since those are 2mm wider than the 16340 batteries, it would make sense that the 16340 batteries would be a bit loose in the case. If you watch the second video in post #2 in this thread, Dr. J shows how you can stick a piece of cardboard inside the cup alongside the batteries to keep them from rattling around. Personally, I'd get kind of a kick out of that rattle. :D

thanks for the response

actually i ran across this list a while back when doing my search for mods
this is why i delayed on my initial impulse purchase for the defender or elegance; just didnt realize how many different models there were and how similiar they all are
i suppose i could do the normal thing and just get 1 every 6 months or so
but id prefer just to get the 'best' right away and not worry about what i didnt get and accumulate batteries i dont use; of course until the v1.1 comes out

the rattling would actually put me off a bit, kinda like using something for something it wasnt made for

thanks for the point in the right direction though as the indulgence is among my top choices right now; for 100$ getting the body, sleeve, 4 batteries, charger, atomizer (dunno which one), passthrough, and 4 adaptors for all sizes is pretty much unbeatable
there arent many mods that allow 6v vaping for 100$ and none have all the accessories this kit come with

question: is the body vented?

im not sure yet if i want to get a mini only (3.7) or a fatty only
was leaning toward something like the indulgence which could go either way (please no innuendos) i realize now using LR could simulate high volt vaping but theres something very appealing with having a unit that could go big or small (no pun again) and thus the flexibility to use variable atomizers based on the situation (until i find my ideal watt/sweet spot)

if i was going to go small and use LR there are a lot of mods that are pretty
what makes the icon stand out compared to the rest; for example why not the mini chuck and i can get a nice custom logo on it

Figuring out which is the best may take a bit of trial and error. :D

That's because you are. ;)

That's probably true, but just in case, check out this page which lists off a ton of battery mods.

Yep - it's got three holes in the bottom of the battery cup.

These are huge forums so it's easy to get lost or overlooked. You can always try writing a new post with a slightly different title, or joining in a conversation someone else already has started in another related thread. :)

little girl you are my hero

ive been looking at all those mods and just have to get 1, i mean just 1 not 1 now then 1 in a month or whatever... of course until the new wave comes in

just recieved my order for about 15 flavors from PA
500mg of nico from xtreme
should be getting a bunch of attys in a day or so (im just slumming with 808s and cartos right now) a few HR in anticipation of the 6v and lots of LR and a few regulars (got to find out for myself why people love the 510 over the silly 808cartos)

will start a poll in whatever forum people actually look at
7 days... 15 mods
ill eliminate 2 mods a day and whatever people push me in thats my new baby

Heh, good luck sticking to that resolution. Most of us can't resist trying this, that, and the other thing. :D

Excellent choice on the flavors from PA! Let me know what you think of those! If you click the Blog entries link under my avatar you can find a couple of blog posts that I did reviewing a bunch of PA flavors. I'm currently vaping my favorite mixture of Graham Cracker and Waffle flavors. :headbang:

I've never tried an 808, but I can tell you why I prefer the 510 atomizer over the 510 cartomizers. I tried the cartomizers and I could taste/smell the glue that holds them together, and found that very unpleasant. I'll stick with atomizers. ;)

Here's a link to the polls sub-forum: Polls - E-Cigarette Forum

While you're there creating a poll, there are tons you can take as well.

Sounds like a good plan! And if you do end up with something you don't like, there are always the Classified and PIF sub-forums so you can either sell or trade or give away the unwanted stuff. :)
