Rod,

Just tried to download the latest from GoogleDrive. Its reporting a 404 Not Found Message.

I was able to get it from Dropbox though.

I noticed that a couple of weeks ago. Something happened to the shared folder on google drive and I had to recreate it. The latest version of the program has been updated with the new URL.

HotRod, great program. I have 2 issues I have tried to figure out and haven't yet. Maybe they are not possible with the calculator??

1. Create a nic base and then add it as an ingredient. What I have done so far is create a recipe, i.e., Unflavored base 12mg 60VG 40 PG using the 100 mg nic that I have. This gives the ingredients to mix to create the quantity, maybe 120 ml. Then I create a nic ingredient and manually enter the appropriate components. Maybe there is a better way?

2. How to dilute a recipe once created? Let's say I made 10 ml using INA Menthol at 5% and the menthol is too strong. Perhaps I would like to dilute it to 3%. The "Adjust Total Flavor" function will change the component numbers for flavor, but not adjust the PG, VG, and Nic, or the Total volume, to accomplish the dilution. Perhaps there is a way but I haven't found it yet?

I say again, GREAT program and I heavily depend on it. But the above 2 issues are ones that are minor irritations and would be great if I knew how to work around them. I know, I know, there's just so much that can be done with a spreadsheet :)

Here are the steps:
  1. To create the nic base go to the "Tools->Dilute Nicotine" option.
  2. Select your 100mg nicotine base as the "Nicotine to dilute"
  3. Provide a name for your new base nicotine.
  4. Specify your desired levels (12mg, 60 VG, 40 PG)
  5. You have the choice of specifying how much base nicotine to use (100mg) or how much diluted nicotine (12mg) to make.
  6. Click the "Save" button.
You should now have a new nicotine ingredient with the name that you provided.
2. How to dilute a recipe once created? Let's say I made 10 ml using INA Menthol at 5% and the menthol is too strong. Perhaps I would like to dilute it to 3%. Passunca is correct, go to the "Tools->Modify Existing Recipe" option and enter the 3% value for the INA Menthol ingredient. The results will tell you how much Nic, PG and VG to add to obtain your new desired levels.

 Duh! Feel kind of stupid for not finding those functions. Thanks for the quick responses. I knew it should be there and sure enough!

Ok,, it is almost a portable app.

Default Recipe Save location to sub folder of Main folder called Recipes.
So, G:\ecig\Calculators\EJuiceCalculator\Recipes
But it should then default to
H:\EJuiceCalculator\Recipes if I move it.
or F:\ecig\EJuiceCalculator\Recipes
etc.

Or the default could just be the root of the Main Folder (EJuiceCalculator)
Or detect where the EJuiceCalculator.exe file is located and default to that location.

I like your calc. it has some very excellent qualities that are missing from others.

See this site for reference... PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives

EDIT:
Also, Inventory threshold should be by percentage, not ml's.
Export to XML single Recipe. This way a file can be shared/emailed/posted and then imported.

I do like the Export to xls and the template is good.
Label Printing is a nice feature.

Overall a very nice Recipe Calc.

Some information about the Juice File where recipes are stored:
After you create or open a juice file the calculator will remember the name and location of the file. Each time the calculator is launched it will automatically open the last juice file that was previously used. I store my file out on SkyDrive and it is automatically opened from all of the PC's that I run the application from.
I made some attempts to store files in the location of the executable (for the reasons that you reference) but this causes issues on some PCs based on the version of Windows and the security settings on the PC. Windows will not allow the application to write to the "Program Files" folder.
EDIT:
Also, Inventory threshold should be by percentage, not ml's.
I'm not sure how to tackle this one. My issue is "percentage of what value". When you first enter an ingredient, say 10ml, it is easy to say that you want the threshold set at 10% of 10ml. Now you use some of the ingredient and you are now down to 8ml. Obviously you want to continue to use the 10% of 10ml threshold. But now you purchase an additional 10ml and you update the amount to 18ml. Does the program now use 10% of 18ml or 10% of 10ml?
I thought it would be more straightforward to specify the threshold in ml rather than percentage.

Good idea, I will create an export option to allow the user to select 1 or more recipes to export.

HotRod,

I store my file in the cloud also and don't have a problem with that.
But, how can I have the same options/settings on every PC? Which file is it?

And +1 for single recipe export! :)
The folder that the options are in depend on what version of windows that you are running:
On Windows 7 and 8 you can enter %AppData% in the Windows "Run" prompt. This should take you to a folder called "c:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming". There is a subfolder called "JuiceCalculator"

In previous versions of Windows you can enter "%AppdData%" in the Windows "Run" prompt. This should take you to a folder called "c:\Documents and Settings\yourusername". There is a subfolder called "JuiceCalculator"

In the JuiceCalculator folder there are several files but the ones that you are after are:
  • DefaultOptions.xml - The file where all of your options/settings are stored.
  • LabelDefinitions.xml - The file which saves information about your custom labels.
  • LabelSheetDefinitions.xml - Another file associated with your label definitions.

OUTSTANDING product. Started using this a few weeks ago and this is definitely the best out there.

I do a lot of mixing and selling. Is there a way to view the current inventory of all of the ingredients at once? This would allow me to order any that I may be low on.

Thanks!

Glad you like it! Help me with some ideas on how this would look and I will add it.

Been using this for a few weeks and it is great! Thanks, and I made a donation.
Thanks! I welcome ideas for changes or new features to add. I am currently working on adding:
  1. The ability to export selected recipes to a new juice file.
  2. The ability to provide a printout of the inventory amounts of all ingredients.

An idea I had was a form or something printed that shows all ingredients in a list

Ingredient Name - Manufacturer - Current ml in stock.
What would be the most useful order to display the ingredients in?
  • Sorted by Ingredient name or
  • Sorted by Manufacturer and then ingredient name or
  • Sorted by current ml in stock (ascending/descending?)
