New Calculator to try

Very nice changes, early on the inventory tracking was what I was trying to get at, but did not put it clearly. Being able to track what flavoring you have on hand, and search for recipes which could be made from this inventory, would be sweet! This is not such a big deal, however when you have a fairly large recipe database, wow, that would be great!

It would be nice if the inventory record were smart enough to know when your previous supply/cost was exhausted, and to update when new inventory use started. That certainly sounds like a complicated addition, I would say just the current cost, but if it isn't a programming nightmare it would be cool as hell!

Some warning of inventory level being to low, possibly some small highlighted message somewhere near the recipe ingredients, a pop-up with an OK, not so much!

Versions My database has quite a few R1,R2, etc is a bit cluttering, some sort of Parent/tree would also be very nice, as long as an easy way existed to delete the work tree once you settled on the final version.

Should the version be added to the normal recipe dropdown resulting in multiple copies (versions) of the same recipe being displayed?

This would be my least desirable option.

Or should the older versions only be available for display when the current version of the recipe is displayed?

A collapsible tree with an option to remove individual entries maybe? your above might be just as well.

no reason not to make them read only, I would say.

When a recipe is deleted, delete all versions of the recipe?

If it were the root being deleted I would say yes, maybe a notification that it had revisions to be deleted also. I often just toss a recipe and start new.

Hey Hotrod, could U highlight the flavoring percentage number when I am adding a new flavor to a recipe? As it is now, when I select a new flavor for recipe, the cursor is placed to the left of the 0.00 or whatever is preselected. It would be nice to have it highlighted so I can just enter in my percentage.

Great program! Has everything I need just wish I could get it to run in wine.......As I use openSUSE....got fed up with windows..I got it to install but I can't get it to run.....Maybe I can figure it out....

I am not an Apple person but if you could tell me what kind of problems you are having maybe there is something I can do to resolve it. Does the program throw an exception? And if so, could you send me a screenshot of the exception being thrown.

Ran into my first problem yesterday...with the simple calculator to change flavor %. I downloaded the newest version this morning & the problem persists. I will include a screenshot to illustrate.



My problem is with the bottom number that shows how much to add in grams. It just isn't making sense to me... I know I need to add 1 ml of PG/VG in this instance, so shouldn't the grams to add be the same as the grams/ml?

I've noticed this in several places, too. One I can think of is in the manage ingredients window. If you tab between fields the whole field is not highlighted, as mxrdrver states the cursor is at the left. You then have to grab the mouse and highlight the field before entering data.

You found a bug and I found out that all of the "SimpleCalculators" which showed an output value in grams was calculating the grams incorrectly. I am preparing to upload a new version which fixes the problem.

A new version was made available, V3.1.0.11. The updates include:

1. Under certain circumstances the Print Label function would throw and exception. Fixed.
2. The SimpleCalculators were calculating the grams incorrectly, fixed.
3. When recipes were exported to Excel the mg level of the recipe was being displayed as 0, fixed.
4. When the numeric updown fields are selected they are now highlighted so that you can overtype the value in the field.
5. Added the initial support for tracking inventory of the ingredients.

Tracking inventory:

On the "Manage Ingredients" window there is now a place to enter "Inventory amount". You should enter the amount of the ingredient that you have available. This field will always display the amount of the ingredient that you have available.
Also on the "Manage Ingredients" window there is a button labeled "Add to inventory" in the area that you enter the cost. Clicking this button will add the value in the "ML's" field to the "Inventory amount".
On the main recipe window there is a button labeled "Reduce Inventory". Clicking this button will reduce the inventory amount of each ingredient in the recipe by the amount being used for the recipe.
In the "Tools->Options" window there is a checkbox on the ingredient defaults tab labeled "Display inventory messages". If this is checked you will receive messages in the "Warnings and Errors" area of the recipe window if you do not have enough of an ingredient in your inventory to mix the recipe displayed.
More functionality related to inventory will be added in future versions. I will welcome any ideas on how to use the inventory value in future versions.

Thanks for fast reply and Great program! I have successfully got it to run on opensuse 12.2 (Linux) by using PlayOnLinux avaliable at http://www.playonlinux.com After installing PlayOnLinux I ran it and before installing the juicecalculator I had to install within the virtual drive that PlayOnLinux created= .net4.0, mono, and MSfonts and for another program I needed vb6. Once those were installed I was able to install JuiceCalculator, although before I ran it I let PlayOnLinux scan the virtual drive and let me create shortcuts....and closed then executed JuiceCalculator through PlayOnLinux...and Bingo! Thanks Again! And was just able to update it as well. I hope this helps anyone else using Linux and is a DIY.

For example, if I've got a list of various bottles I have to mix for a customer, I'll do one, copy the output from the calc I use online: DIY E-Liquid Calculator Ten Flavors With Nicotine Plus PG/VG Adjusting into an email, I do this until I've got all the recipes I'm mixing in one email, then I email myself this list and work from it when I'm making the list. I'd rather not do a recipe, make a recipe, do a recipe, make a recipe. I want to build a list of recipes I can make all in one shot.

Just look at the output from the calculator I posted, that's easy to copy and paste somewhere else.

Is there a way to use the calculator with premixed base? For instance, I'll mix several hundred ml of 50/50 or 70/30 to partition into test batches. If I add 5% of flavor, I know I need to add 5% of VG to balance back out the ratio. Easy enough if I measure out using syringes but I prefer using weight when possible.

This could be further extended by making large batches of a particular flavor of juice, then helping divide it up to add varying levels of nicotine to each bottle.

Essentially there would be a target amount (say, 30ml) and target ratio (say 50/50), and an option to have premixed bases (flavored or otherwise).

I thought about jerry-rigging it with the "other" ingredient category but it grays out the PG/VG option.

Take a look at the export to an excel spreadsheet function and see if that would work for you (under tools)
