Is there a way to use the calculator with premixed base? For instance, I'll mix several hundred ml of 50/50 or 70/30 to partition into test batches. If I add 5% of flavor, I know I need to add 5% of VG to balance back out the ratio. Easy enough if I measure out using syringes but I prefer using weight when possible.

This could be further extended by making large batches of a particular flavor of juice, then helping divide it up to add varying levels of nicotine to each bottle.

Essentially there would be a target amount (say, 30ml) and target ratio (say 50/50), and an option to have premixed bases (flavored or otherwise).

I thought about jerry-rigging it with the "other" ingredient category but it grays out the PG/VG option.

Seal,

Make a new nicotine ingredient. You can set the mg/ml level of your premix and the PG/VG ratio of the premix. You can have as many nicotine bases as you want.

Then in the recipe, select your new premixed base as your nicotine entry. It will then calculate the final PG and VG amounts based on the ratio in the premix.

Ah, clever. I didn't think of that.

Also, when I'm in a recipe and I want to change, say, TFA sweet cream to FW Sweet Cream, the percentage defaults back to zero. It would be nice to retain the original %. A couple times, I wasn't paying attention to what the % was, and when I changed the flavor, I couldn't remember when I had the % at.

Done this one a few times, great suggestion! HotRod rocks, cannot see using any other calculator out there, and I think I've tried most. Some of the others are pretty decent, but this one IS King!

This calculator has everything as far as I can tell but an easy way to copy and paste that finished recipe somewhere else. For example, if I've got a list of various bottles I have to mix for a customer, I'll do one, copy the output from the calc I use online: DIY E-Liquid Calculator Ten Flavors With Nicotine Plus PG/VG Adjusting into an email, I do this until I've got all the recipes I'm mixing in one email, then I email myself this list and work from it when I'm making the list. I'd rather not do a recipe, make a recipe, do a recipe, make a recipe. I want to build a list of recipes I can make all in one shot.

Just look at the output from the calculator I posted, that's easy to copy and paste somewhere else.

Let me think on this one and how to tackle it.

I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do. Based on my initial understanding Rachet62's suggestion should have worked so I don't think I am fully understanding. What is in your premixed base besides PG and VG? Is it a nicotine base, with/without flavor(s)?

A couple of things to point out that you might be able to do:
1. You can add ingredient entries (flavor ingredients) and specify their Nicotine level, PG level and VG level.
2. You could also enter your premixed base as a recipe and then use the "Tools->Modify Recipe" option. The modify recipe option will allow you to make modifications to Nicotine levels, PG/VG levels, percentage of ingredients and also add additional ingredients and then it will tell you additional amounts to add to reach the desired levels.

One more suggestion, Hotrod. When in the modify recipe window, add a remove ingredient tab to all the ingredients so I can change flavor percentages and remove unwanted flavors.
The intent behind the modify recipe window is to take a juice that you already have mixed and make changes to it. For instance, you may want to reduce the percentage of an ingredient that is in the recipe. The calculator will tell you how much you must add of the other ingredients in order to reduce the percentage of the flavor that is already in the juice.

The reason there isn't a "Remove" button for ingredients that are already in the recipe is that you can't remove the ingredient that is already in the juice that is mixed. I hope that makes since.

The second bullet is exactly what I needed, Thank you! I knew there was a way in this wonderfully complex program, but being wonderfully complex, it is hard to find it sometimes.

The ingredient percentage was being changed to the "Default Percentage" specified for the new ingredient. You must have had your default percentage for the new ingredient set to 0.
I did make the change and it will be in the next release that I post. When you are changing ingredients, the ingredient percentage will stay the same as the previous ingredient. The only time the "Default Percentage" will be used is when you are adding an additional ingredient to a recipe.

Great program!! Ive been playing around with it and am excited to use it for some recipes. Now a question......why do you have the mililiter calculations out to three decimal places? Most 1 cc syringes have .01ml graduations on them. I know I can round up or down. Thanks for your great work.
- Dirk

Most syringes, etc, have .01 graduations. I wanted to show one decimal place beyond that so you could perform you own rounding or estimations when filling the syringe.

Got it! Maybe a thought for future versions would be a setting to change how many decimal places you use for the final calculations or when inputting data. I don't know how complex of a programing job that would be.\

I just made a new version available, V3.1.0.12. The changes include:

  1. The "Add to inventory" button wasn't properly updating the inventory value. Fixed.
  2. When changing an ingredient in a recipe the percentage value for the ingredient was being changed to the specified default value. Updated the program to keep the existing percentage values.
  3. Fixed an issue in the "Modify Recipe Window". When a new ingredient was added in the modify recipe window under some circumstances some of the values to add was being displayed as a negative number. Fixed.

I would like to share an Excel workbook with anyone that is interested. When I began building the JuiceCalculator, I created and tested many of the formulas in Excel. I then used the Excel workbook to compare the results of the JuiceCalculator to.

The workbook contains a sheet for most of the “Simple Calculator” functions that are available in the JuiceCalculator and it also has a sheet labeled “Build a recipe” that will allow you to completely build a recipe and find out the ML’s, grams or drops needed for each ingredient. Unlike the JuiceCalculator there is not a lot of checking for input errors so if you enter bad values you may see negative numbers.

You can download the workbook at the same links that you use to download the JuiceCalculator. The name of the file is “DIY Formulas V3.xls”.

JuiceCalculator (DropBox)– Most feature rich calculator on the planet
JuiceCalculator (Google Drive)– Most feature rich calculator on the planet

Note: I don't want to begin supporting the workbook and adding features. I just want to make it available for any of you Excel folks that might like to use it for some quick calculations.
