If your adding brother continuous roll labels, I use the following as my setup... but yes, the length can be as long as the user wishes. This size (below) works nicely for standard 30ml bostons and larger. I haven't looked at making labels for unicorns yet although these would probably work just fine if turned sideways to be placed.
Didn't really mean to jump in the middle of the conversation.

It appears that you do not accept PM messages. A question about the Brother TZE-241 labels, it appears that the label roll is one continuous sheet and there is no limit to the width of the label that you can print. The only limitation is the height which is approximately 3/4 of an inch (18mm). Is that correct?

Hi,
You should be able to PM me now. I have it set for all members now. Sorry about that.

Yes, the labels are a continuous roll, with a cutter in the printer. The label tape width is 0.7 inches (18mm).

I print the labels at about 1.5 inches in length (referred to as "width"), with a small 0.08 inch blank margin around the text.

Thanks!

Sorry for any interruption, but I just discovered this fantastically amazing super wonderful incredible gem of a program, after all these years! Where has this been all my life!?! :) Well, vaping life anyhow.

I've been struggling along with eJuiceMeUp for several years, and now that I'm finally seriously stepping up my DIY game into more than one [or two] flavorings at a time, was finding it to be very tedious - always having to type in the same ingredients ad nauseum. It becomes untenable. Don't get me wrong, EJMU is superb for a beginner, but for more advanced users it just isn't enough anymore. Had I know about this program, I'd have started using it quite a while ago - that's for sure.

So I'm just popping in to say a massive THANKS to Hotrod for providing this program, for free no less :w00t:!! I don't drink anymore myself but, :toast:. As soon as my flavor-ordering pipeline clears out a bit, I'm going to be donating a bit. And that's coming from someone who is disabled with no income! I currently started donating plasma to be able to buy more flavorings.. And after I started, while running head-first into that untenable situation with EJMU, I found this incredible piece of work.

As I'm learning about this program, it still continues to confound me at the level of detail and thoroughness this programs goes to. It even goes to new heights with it's inventorying system. And this label making business is over my head ATM, but it's nice to know of this option for big-batch making going forward. It's almost as if a DIY vaper was able to make a program! ;)

So.. Thank you SOOOooo very much, Hotrod!!

@HotRod19579 I would just like to thank you for your continuing support of this great calculator and your amazing contribution to the DIY community.

I can happily report that I've been running the juice Calculator without any problems including automatic updates, under Linux (Fedora 23 and 24). I'm going to post the short and simple guide how to most easily get it up and running with wine, feel free to post it in the main page if you want. I've tried using a virtual machine as well, but the experience was choppy and underpar, running it under wine is in another league. The guide is Fedora specific but should work the same for other distros if slightly adjust the terminal commands to represent the package manager the distro is using.

How to install
1. su //*input superuser password*
2. dnf install wine
3. dnf install winetricks
4. rm -rf ~/.wine
5. WINEARCH=win32 winecfg
6. exit //*just once to exit superuser mode, make sure you don't miss this and proceed to the next steps without root access*
7. winetricks dotnet 452
8. wine /home/user/Downloads/Setup.exe //*(input the actual directory containing the Setup for the juice calculator)*
9. exit
That's it really, a couple of next prompts to follow during the installation and you're good to go, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. A shortcut will be created in your App Drawer and you'll be able to use the app without any hassle.

Bugs
  • I forgot to mention that the menu bar buttons are not always functioning properly, so best stick with using the tool bar equivalents.
  • There is a confirmed bug, in which you cannot add ingredients if you choose "Add to shopping list" from the menu bar. The workaround for this is to open the Shopping list from View -> Shopping List and everything is working as intended in there.
  • Everything else seems to work correctly

1. Added some additional print options for printing labels, Tools->Options, Print defaults tab, Advanced label printing defaults. You can specify the printer to print labels to, the paper type to use and the label definition to use.

Thank you, thank you again, for all of your work on this.
I've been working on trying to get the labels to print on my Dymo Plug N Play USB label printer, and I would set up the paper type, and the preview would look right, but all I'd get was a mess at the end of the label. I tried it with a modified version of the Brother you'd added, and it still wouldn't work. (Luckily I can use the tape with a wet erase marker for temporary items in the kitchen, so the mistakes didn't go to waste.:D) It wasn't a big deal for me since I mostly use the same 3 recipes and don't need a lot of information on the labels so it wasn't difficult to just use the Dymo label software, but I get stubborn about thinking that I ought to b able to fix my problems after 20 years of fixing other people's problems.

But the default printer label setup had the option to set the paper to landscape and that solved it. Has that always been there and I missed it or was this new? Either way, thanks again.

If you mean that you would like to have a PG/VG ingredient which is 30/70 then no, currently the calculator only allows for separate PG and VG entries, each set to 100%.
If you mean that you would like all new recipes to start with a PG/VG value of 30/70 then yes. In Tools->Options, Recipe defaults, you can setup you default percentages.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I did mean the first part of your answer. I figured out the second part of your answer for my recipes to auto start at 30/70, which is very handy.

Again, thank you so much for this amazing tool.
Is your preferred donation method the link in the program? Or is there some other place you prefer?

There is a donation link in Juice Calculator's Help menu at the top of the program.

I feel that everyone should show some appreciation to HotRod for his dedication to us. If one has the means of course.

These days more than ever, folks will be turning to Juice Calculator in droves.
This means more questions and lots more time for HotRod to spend helping us out.

I completely agree!

@HotRod19579
I do have another question. I am trying to figure out how to add inventory for a flavor base I've created.

Say, I make a recipe for a concentrate, let's call it RocketScience Concentrate and it's made up of 3-4 flavors. Now, when I click Make Recipe to build it, how can I set it to add the amount I make into my inventory? Ex: So that when I go to RocketScience Juice recipe, it ups my inventory amount for RocketScience Concentrate. Or does this have to be done manually when I make the recipe concentrate?

Thanks, you guys have been nothing but helpful. <3

I have a question for you... I've been using your calculator for a while now and I'm having an issue with the program getting slower and slower when I go to change between recipes. Some of my recipes have been copied multiple times as I was tweaking them to get to a more finalized recipe. For example I have a caramel 1, caramel 2, caramel 3 v A, caramel 3 v B, etc. They all originated from caramel 1 but the later recipes seem to get slower and slower at loading. I'm trying to figure out a way to improve the load time of the individual recipes and stop the 5+ second lag when typing in the notes section that invariably happens with the later versions. Can't find any suggestions in the help section or anywhere online. I'm assuming it's related to how the program was built? Any thoughts ideas or recommendations?

Another option besides deleting is to use the "FileMaintenance". When the calculator installed it should have added a second icon called "FileMaintenance", also can be found in "All Programs->JuiceCalculator->FileMaintenance".
Launch it and open the juice file that you want to remove recipes from on the top of the window.
On the bottom of the window you can either open another juice file or start with a new file (the default).
Left click and drag recipes from the top window to the bottom window. Also you can right click drag and be prompted to move or copy.
On the bottom window click "Save" or "Save as" and provide a new name such as "Older recipe versions".

When you move/copy recipes, the ingredients will also copy. If moving, the ingredient(s) will only be removed from the original file if they are no longer referenced by other recipes. With this application you can also copy/move individual ingredients.

Version 7.0.2.2 is available. Changes include:
1. Adding recipe ingredients to the shopping list was working incorrectly. Fixed.
2. The last made date was not printing when selected in the label printer. Fixed.
3. Added a new paper type, Brother-TZe-241 for label printing.

I would pay big money to get this to work on MAC. I've tried for hours to download Wine and get it to work with no avail. Ugh dang MAC's are good and bad.

You can use the free VirtualBox and a free copy of Windows 10 by following the instructions here.
