(Note: I just emailed a request for info and permission to share. If I receive both; I will post here.)
I heard back from OSDIY re: VG/PG ratios of their "Flavor Blends." They did not provide express permission to post their reply so I will summarize only.

It appears that they do not physically manufacture their blends but hire another company to do it for them. As such; they do not have any ratio information. However, they did note that the list of ingredients does not include VG, so they work on the assumption of 100% PG.

I apologize to HotRod, and everyone else reading this thread, for my off-topic comments.

Your only alternative would be Linux then.
If you are not techy, this could present a problem for you.
While Linux has it's positive points, it has a lot of negatives still.
Still not ready for real mainstream use. it is a big learning curve.

My advice is stick with Windows. Windows 10 is a solid OS already and getting better.
The most versatile hardware you can get right now is a Surface Pro 4, and yes, it is worth the money.
Despite what anyone else says, you won't be disappointed.

I have to agree about the Surface Pro, it is a great tablet and worth the money, I own 3 of them, Pro original thru Pro 4, and whatever I can do on my desktop I can do on my Pro all with the convenience of a tablet. I don't know if they still sell it or not but do NOT get the Surface RT, you can only run a small fraction of the applications that you can run on the Pro.

What does the VG/PG precedence option do?

To answer your question about PG/VG Precedence a long explanation is needed.

If enough PG or VG cannot be added to a recipe to meet the requirements of a recipe the “PG/VG Precedence” tells the calculator which of the two percentages it should fill first. This setting is important when you have the “Tools->Options”, General tab, “Volume Calculation” checked.

When “Volume Calculation” is unchecked the calculator functions like most other calculators. The PG/VG ratio reflects the percentage of PG and VG based on the total volume of PG and VG in a recipe. When “Volume Calculation” is checked, the PG/VG ratio reflects the percentage of PG and VG based on the total volume of the recipe (all ingredients, not just PG & VG based ingredients). This will become more clear with an example.

Example (using extreme values to make the point)
1. You are making a recipe of 100 ml.
2. Your recipe is calling for 50 ml of ingredients that do not contain any PG or VG (distilled water for example).
3. Now the calculator has to figure out how much PG and VG to add to make 100 ml. You requested that the recipe be 50/50 PG/VG.

With “Volume Calculation” unchecked the calculator will tell you to add 25 ml of PG and 25 ml of VG. Total PG/VG volume is 50 ml and 50% of 50 ml is 25 ml. Your recipe is 50/50 PG/VG.

With “Volume Calculation” checked and “VG Precedence” checked, the calculator will tell you to add 50 ml of VG. Total volume of the recipe is 100 ml and 50% of 100 ml is 50 ml. If any PG is added to the recipe you will exceed the 100 ml therefore the amount of PG to add is 0 ml. The resulting recipes PG/VG percentage will be 0/50 PG/VG. Now if you click on “PG Precedence” the resulting recipe will be 50/0 PG/VG.

Other notes related to volume calculation:
  1. With it unchecked, the requested PG + VG must always be 100%.
  2. With it checked, the requested PG + VG does not need to total 100% (but can’t be more than 100%). Using my example above you could request PG = 25% and VG = 25%. This would give you the same resulting recipe that you get with it unchecked.
I have my calculator setup with the “Volume Calculation” checked. I want to know the actual percentages of PG and VG in my recipe. Have you ever had a recipe that was 20/80 PG/VG and you wondered why it wasn’t as thick as you expected it to be? In my opinion; the standard that has been established is flawed. The standard is that PG + VG must always equal 100% even if the recipe has other ingredients that are not PG and VG based.

While I disagree about Linux being ready for mainstream, I do agree that it has a learning curve. Some people find that it is more challenging than they have time for. It is well worth it, and there are lots of resources to give step-by-step instructions with a simple Google search if you can stick with it.

Is it possible currently to use the Filter recipes by > recipe category: to filter for any/all recipes not yet assigned to a category? I think I forgot to assign 1 or 2 new ones to categories but can't be sure without checking them all.
It will be possible in the next version. I added a recipe category dropdown value of "Unassigned". When selected it will list all recipes that do not belong to a category.

I am looking for some ideas and thoughts about a new feature that I am considering but before I begin the development I would like some feedback. The feature is related to tracking the “steep time” of a newly made recipe.

Here are my thoughts:
  1. Add a new field on the recipe window where you input the number of days of steeping that is needed for the recipe.

  2. When the “Make recipe” button is clicked I would begin tracking this recipe. I would track the recipe by the recipes name along with date that you clicked the “Make recipe” button.

  3. Now for the question; how to display the recipes being tracked?

    • Maybe add a “View->Steeping recipes” option. When selected a window will open showing all recipes being steeped.

    • The window would show the recipe name, the date it was made, the number of days to steep (at the time the recipe was made) and the number of days remaining until the steeping is complete.

    • There would be a delete button associated with each entry that would allow you to delete the recipe from the list. The recipe would remain in the list until deleted.
Thoughts or suggestions?

I personally think it should auto delete once the time is up

How would you know when the steeping is done, the absence of it being in the list? Maybe add a button on the window to "Delete all steeped recipes" or add a checkbox, default to checked, to "Delete all steeped recipes when window is closed"?

Just like how we have a low inventory alert pop up. Once we get a pop up an automated action should happen in the background that it deletes it off the list

Is it possible for the text color to be changed?
While steeping it is normal, once complete the font color changes to green?
I would just use the day and not the time. Possibly steep date +1
Also could you have more than 1 of the same recipe steeping at the same time? i.e I make something that takes a 2 month steep, 30 days in I make another batch of the same recipe (also with a 2 month steep), would both recipes display with their respective steeping cycles?
