@IDJoel - Yes, I do highly recommend dropperbottles.com. Brad, the owner is a really nice guy and very willing to accommodate buyers who want to mix-n-match sizes. You just need to leave a note in the order notes letting him know what sizes and how many of each, and pay for 100 of the largest size you order. It works out to only pennies difference per bottle to do that, and you end up with exactly the sizes and quantities of each that you want.

I also use exclusively, and highly recommend, GlassBottleOutlet.com for any/all glass bottles. I compared the top 3 vendors people use on here...nearly a year ago, and frequently since then, and they have always had the best overall price including S/H. Member @b.m. just yesterday I think it was...found that he saved $23 by going with them instead of Specialty Bottle or Packing Options Direct (1 of those 2) that he was planning to buy from!
Yeah,i couldn't believe how much the price difference was between Glass bottle outlet and Packaging options direct, which was my go to bottle supplier, that has now changed haha.

Anyone know why i get this when trying to save a new recipe or ingredient

Error
---------------------------
Error saving Juice file:The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\Google Drive\Juice Recepies\_Master Juice File.xml' because it is being used by another process.

I get that with Gdrive too. It happens when the file is syncing up to their servers. Just wait a few moments and you'll be able to save it.

Love this program. I read earlier in this thread that someone got it to work in linux using WINE, but I keep getting a crash. same with playonlinux. Any ideas?

crash log:

Hi I found an intresting bug.

If a network share isn't available the program will hang for over 1 minute upon shutdown. I assume it is due to it can't find the network drive. (I realized this problem when I moved my installation from my Job-Pc to my home-Pc where I obviously don't have access to the network drives which ecalc was looking for.

An easy fix would just to show a requester when trying to open files or perform backup with a message saying like

"open file \\network\drive\share\etc.." and just give a SKIP option.

The same thing happens when you try to change the default path and backup path in the settings if you press the BROWSE button.

First of all, I absolutely love this program. I couldn't imagine going back to DIYing via mobile. I'm pretty sure I've converted quite a few people after showing them this program in some of my Facebook groups, too :)
I have a couple suggestions that I would like your input on, HotRod.

• Like many mixers my scale only has two decimals - would it be possible to have an option to adjust the weight to show 1,2,3, etc decimal places? Obviously this is easy mental math, but it's just one more thing that would streamline and speed up the process for some of us.
• Would it be possible to include steep times on the printed recipes? This would be helpful for us when we print off a bunch of recipes then in turn make up all of our labels. I personally like to write the steep times on my labels but I find myself needing to go back to the recipes each time because I can never remember the steep times on each mix.
• Is there any documentation somewhere that I've overlooked that better explains how to use the tools in the app? I find a lot of them confusing to use but there are just too many tools to ask someone to explain each one. I know they're supposed to be simple but I struggle with them and those that I've asked to help me have stated they don't use them because they don't understand them either.

Thanks for all your hard work on this program!

Hi @scubab and welcome to ECF! Are you a scuba diver? (Sorry; stupid question, and not "on topic" but your "name" piqued my interest because I am and it is always nice to meet another "bubble-head.")
I have a couple suggestions that I would like your input on, HotRod.
I don't know how much of this thread you have perused so I will mention again, for you and others that may not be aware, that the author/creator/programmer of Juice Calculator, and host of this thread (@HotRod19579 ), has had to undergo some medical procedures that has temporarily left it difficult for him to type.

I only share this so that you can be aware that it may be a couple (few?) weeks before you get a reply from him. Normally he is very responsive to questions and requests but this anomaly has left him (for our purposes) incapacitated for a couple of months.

The rest of us that follow this thread, and use his program, are happy to try to answer your questions to the best of our abilities. We only ask for your patience when dealing with us second-stringers.:D
• Like many mixers my scale only has two decimals - would it be possible to have an option to adjust the weight to show 1,2,3, etc decimal places?
This has been mentioned/suggested a few times in the past. HotRod has said that he has chosen to display (to 3 decimal points) so the user can decide "whether/when to add that last drop." And the consensus (of the users that voiced an opinion) supported that choice.

I know HotRod has said that many of the program's calculations extend beyond 2 or 3 decimal points but has chosen to display only those he/we felt were useful to the end-user. I don't recall anyone suggesting a user-definable range. I also don't know how easy/difficult that would be to implement (I am about as far as you can get from anyone who knows anything about programming!:D). I would think that he will consider this and reply when he is able.
• Would it be possible to include steep times on the printed recipes? This would be helpful for us when we print off a bunch of recipes then in turn make up all of our labels. I personally like to write the steep times on my labels but I find myself needing to go back to the recipes each time because I can never remember the steep times on each mix.
I don't recall seeing this suggestion previously; thank you. I do not/have not personally used the printing features of the Juice Caculator so I am ignorant of what it can do or what its limitations are. I can see the usefulness of seeing either a "ready on" date or even a simple "steep X days/weeks." Again I have no idea what the practicality of implimenting this... sorry.
• Is there any documentation somewhere that I've overlooked that better explains how to use the tools in the app?
I'm sorry, but without any other postings, I don't want to take anything for granted. I apologize if this is a given. Have you found (and explored) the help file HR has included within the Help(tab)->Display Help menu options? HotRod gives a pretty good explanation for most of the calculator's features. I understand that it is not exactly "intuitive" but it is fairly complete. If you can't find your answer there; then we are always here to help as we can. Please don't hesitate to ask your questions here. We promise not to laugh at the questions if you promise not to laugh at our answers (or lack thereof). :D

I once ordered from a place in the US that did the 'doubler' thing. (Incidentally, that was to hold me over until I learned enough to do DIY.) ... They gave you a mixed flavor at, say, 36mg/ml - which they said wasn't intended to be vaped directly (albeit, I have - even 48 at one point). Then to that, you added the 'doubler' which would lower the nic down while maintaining the flavoring level.
Why they didn't just have a certain nic strength, I dunno..?? I can't remember the reasoning behind it anymore.

Basically, what I think Bangers&Mash is looking for is a flavor base, as best I can tell.
To do that in this calc, you go to the menu: "Edit/Create flavor base from recipe" (last item in edit menu).

I haven't used that particular feature yet, but I see now there is a button that brings up help, from our always very helpful IDJoel.

Hi guys,

Really like this calculator! Speady recovery to @HotRod19579.

So here in Australia most vendors mix in whats called doublers. Anyone know how to use this cal to mix doublers?

Thanks in advance
I live in the U.S. so I must confess I was/am totally ignorant of what a "doubler" is and how it is used; so I did a quick google search to see if I could learn something. I found this site which seems to give a pretty good description (please correct me if this is not what you are talking about).

With that as my understanding; I am not sure what you want to do. Are you trying to: 1.) make your own doublers (a finished product without nicotine)? Or: 2.) are you trying to figure out how to use a commercially purchased doubler as an "ingredient" in the Juice Calculator (adding nicotine concentrate to the doubler to dilute it to its intended flavor strength and raise the nicotine to the desired level)?

If 1.); then:
You are basically creating a recipe with 0 (zero) nicotine and the flavors at twice their intended strength. So to do this you would set your "Target Nicotine" level to 0.00 and double all flavor concentrate percentages. For a "tripler;" triple all flavor concentrates. PG/VG (specificly higher VG) ratio will be limited by the increased percentage of flavor concentrates and what carrier(s) are used in each flavor concentrate (typically PG).

If 2.); then:
You would want to enter your "doubler" as an ingredient. Here is a sample of what it might look like:
upload_2017-3-6_16-19-17.png

The important parts to include (highlighted) are:
-Name
-Ingredient Type
-PG/VG Percentages
-Default Percentage (Optional: this just simply sets the default value with which it is introduced to the recipe. You can still change this value within the recipe.)
-Cost (not highlighted)(Optional: only required if you wish to know cost of finished recipe.)

Then; create the recipe (dilute the doubler down to vapable strength and add the nicotine). It will look something like this:
upload_2017-3-6_16-51-33.png

Note the critical info:
1. Desired nicotine level
2. Desired size of finished recipe
3. Nicotine base you are using (I followed recommendation of using double the desired nocotine strength for this example)
4. PG and VG lines set the desired finished PG/VG ratio
5. Your doubler used as an ingredient (what we created in the previous example). Use 50% for a doubler and 33.33% for a tripler.

Now notice what happens if we change our nicotine base:

By changing from a 48mg/mL 50% PG/50% VG nic base, to a 100mg/mL 0% PG/100% VG nic base, notice how the amounts change for nic, PG, and VG.

If that is more than you want to do; I did also come across this "doubler calculator" during my same google search: E-LIQUID DOUBLER CALCULATOR
http://doublercalculator.com/
I hope something here answers your question. If I missed it; please feel free to sing out. :D

Another feature that WOULD be nice is integrated support for Onedrive (and other services). The Idea of using the portable version gets even better if you actually always can access the correct place where the recipes are stored ;)

That's what I do if it counts. I just created a 'Recipe Calc" directory in my Onedrive folder and extracted the portable version there with a shortcut to the EXE on my desktop. When I created the database/xml file I just saved it into the same directory.

I'll sit at my desktop and enter ingredients or recipes, hit save, then go to my laptop to make a batch and print the label. So far it's worked pretty flawlessly without needing custom code. I imagine Google Drive or Dropbox would work the same since they're just folders on your system.

However I think that I did have to set up configuration settings on each system as well as custom label options, but that's just a one time deal for each computer. after that the data just flows

Quick question. I have 12 nic juice and some 0 nic if i mix the two will this cut it in half. Both 10ml bottles. Or will it be less trying to get dwn to 3 nic or lower and not sacrifice the flavor.

Sent from my LGAS992 using Tapatalk
Yes, the result should be 6mg nic. There is a tool in the calculator for doing the calculations, I believe under the simple tools flyout menu.

Yes 10mL of 12mg/mL + 10mL of 0mg/mL = 6mg/mL (20mL total volume).
10mL of 12mg/mL + 20mL of 0mg/mL = 4mg/mL (30mL total volume).
10mL of 12mg/mL + 30mL of 0mg/mL = 3mg/mL (40mL total volume).

@Fozzy71 is correct. You can check this easily with the Juice Calculator. The path is Tools->Simple Calculators->Determine nicotine level after mixing two liquids... :
upload_2017-3-7_21-11-46.png

Then just plug in your volumes and nicotine strengths and the result appears at the bottom:

Hotrod, the adjust inventory checkoffs in the print window used to work but no longer. I've gone back to manually adjusting after making a recipe. Any idea why that would be happening now?
Hi @yooperdad,
I don't know how closely you follow this thread so I don't know if you are aware that @HotRod19579 is recovering from surgery that temporarily makes typing next to impossible. I am trying to let everyone know so they don't think HR isn't responding to their questions and reports like he is normally so good about doing. I presume he will respond as he is able. I am guessing that this lay-up has created a professional backlog as well as here on this thread; so I am sure he appreciates everyone's patience. :)
