i live in a country where e-cigs are illegal, therefore, bringing them in always have custom risk and expensive. I, or possibly every other of my country vaporers will resort to ways to keep reusing our cartos as long as possible. so, i accumulate a few cartos and boil them to kill the bacteria and crap in it, i follow Pbusardo's method. today, i finally use 1 of the "cleaned" cartos, and after the 1st puff, and subsequent puffs, it just create this very dry and "sandy" hit to my throat. i took a new one out and it has no problem. is this pretty normal or something? any inputs from fellow peeps that boil their cartos?

Hello barbosa!

I would suggest you to take a look at my last post:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-cartomizer-do-you-clean-dont-read-topic.html

I used to clean mine too, but I will not do that again (other than I run out of cartos and really need it).

Clean the cartos is not something that I am planning to do anymore, as you can see in the topic I mentioned above, you have other concerns too.

I hope that helps.

I recommend you go with an HH.357 (or two) from AvidVaper.com. Fully broken in, they hold about 12 drops of juice and I can vape them for about 45 minutes to an hour between refills. Properly cared for, they last for months. If you aren't sensitive to plastic taste (I'm super sensitive), you might also look at the Stardust. No filler material and you can very cheaply rebuild the atomizer coil and wick (google the videos for it)

I think boiling them shrinks the filler a bit, which reduces the ability to wick fluid and gives dry/harsh hits. I recommend using a clear alcohol (I use vodka) to soak and sanitize them, blowing it through until it's clear, followed by a hot water rinse and through drying (setting it battery end down on a light bulb for me). They tend to be 90% as good as new with this process for me. I don't think you can revive the harsh ones, but if you give it a try on your next ones it might help. Of course, if you use thick dark juice with sediment you won't get much life out of a carto - thin and clear works best.
Good luck getting more life out of your cartos!
