I doubt 3 drops is anywhere near enough to prevent burning / scorching the wicking material.
It needs to be fully saturated.
I use 5 - 10 drops priming something as small as a nautilus head.

40 - 50w is high on a new head, always best to start off low & gradually work your way up. This allows the head to ' break in ' and let's the user ensure it is wicking properly to prevent burning before turning up the power.

I have a wismec rx200 and just bought a smok tf-stc2 coil primed it and everything and still tasted burnt could it just be a bad coil?

Terribly little information there.

Did you try hitting it with 200w?
Did you let is soak?

It is a Temperature control capable head - What were your Settings?

Rule 1 - Start Low and work up

Burnt = trashed

Replace and try again

TFV4 heads need a lot of liquid to saturate. Almost a mil on most. Soak well, fill tank and let sit for 15-30 minutes
