New coil idea!

Has anybody thought of or actually tried a flat spiral coil? I don't have a platform to test this on now but I'm guessing it would be a bit higher in ohms and require more voltage but I bet the vape would be awesome. It would be shaped like an electric stove burner, with a wick material sitting below it and/or above it, if you sandwiched it between wick materials airflow might be a problem depending on your wick material and how tight of a draw you like. But I bet somebody around here could make it work.

Thoughts, Opinions, or Results anybody?

I use ribbon kanthal too =D I just don't have an atty with enough room to try a flat coil yet.

i think micro coils are the latest craze. you know, the spiral is the most common shape in the universe.

I love my microcoils don't get me wrong, but I'd really like to see how this type of flat coil (like a electric stove burner) would produce. I guess once I get my shipment on monday i'll try it and post a video or something.

Hah I've never looked into any of that type of stuff so I had no clue it existed but I could see how that would be beneficial for dry materials.

I also wonder if anybody has tried to make a bridge trussel type of coil by using NR leads and just putting a bunch of strips together in a flat type of pattern like this:

Exactly like that, but with wicks for vaping eliquid.

like a pad placed on top of the coil or underneath or both, with some threads coming out both sides to wick. Would be easily achieved with some cotton makeup pads thinned out a bit so air could pass through.

Just need to push some cotton down on the coil and keep it wet. Should work a treat.

Like a Spin-E coil.

.2ohm if built from five 1ohm pieces of wire....

I'm not sure of any wire that has a resistance of about 10 ohms/inch because those lil strips would have to be super tiny to fit into any currently available atty. So I'm guessing it would actually come out at sub 0.1ohms. Prolly have to vape it at like 1-1.5V hah.

There was a thread on this a few months back,can't find it now.

They did not use wick,just kept the coil wet,lots of spitting juice if I recall.

Based on what they were doing,laying the coil on a bed of wick(ekowool maybe)makes sense.
