New e-cig batteries smell like new electronics

I am new to e-cigs and I have only had mine a couple of days. I was wondering if it was normal for the new batteries for e-cigs to have that new electronic smell (the smell that can be associated with a new tv being on for a little while). Both batteries kind of have that smell, especially the one that I have used. I was wondering if this was normal and safe or if there was something wrong with the batteries. The one I have been using is working just fine. I have noticed that on occasion, the tip of the cartomizer gets warm when I take a drag, but that isn't usually the case. Can someone please tell me if this is normal or not?
