I currently have an ego e-cig with a clearomizer. I want to upgrade to a build with a rba and maybe a variable voltage battery. I just have no clue where to start/where to look and where the best places to get the parts are!

Pictured is my current setup, any tips or recommendations?

Thanks!

I've written a blog article on advancing up from Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder to Ego's & Mods. This will give a very elementary breakdown to what is available to you.

There are other blog articles which you should find useful, including beginner tips on Rebuildable Atomizers and mod batteries.

E-Cigarette Forum - Baditude - Blogs

I recommend doing a lot of research on each particular mod that you are interested in before purchasing. Read their sub-forums for specific issues and weaknesses that each mod will have from current owners APV Model Specific Discussion and watch You Tube reviews by PBusardo and igetcha69

VTR, SVD, Telsa, Provari, SvoëMesto,...... lots to choose from. Go quality, go with what interests you, do your research, read and view reviews and comparisons, then purchase what you want from and informed and educated position. Recommend something that will put out 6 volts and 15 watts. You won't need it right off, and something less may do, but in a few months you may just be glad you did, as you progress in your vape journey.

I'll have a look now, I'm basically not getting much of a hit now. So an upgrade is necessary currently.

Check out the K100 empire mod. You can get one cheap at $23.24 Empire KeCig K100 Mechanical Rechargeable Electronic Cigarettes - golden / no battery at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Its slender and small which is what i really like about it. Its a mech mod not a VV mod. (you can look up the difference between the two)
I don't really like the look of these to be honest, size as in length doesn't matter. I just don't want something too chunky like the iTaste VTR.

I highly recommend the Russian rba as a first rba, it's a kayfun direct copy, great quality and super easy to build. Every style of build that I've tried has worked. Also the fogger looks good, working on getting one of those next. But check them all out and go with what makes sense to you. I am found of bottom coil devices, so that is the style that I look at when searching. There is just so much out there, and it always takes me weeks to decide on something before I purchase. But the Russian just can't be beat far as performance or ease of build and top notch quality too.

What about this I just purchased one yesterday on the advice of members here and after reading the 36 page thread of people raving about it , the shops based in the uk and its the cheapest I could find it anywere I Taste VV v3.0 kit: Electronic Cigarette - pnitastevv - Paradise Vape UK _ Vape dont smoke

That don't look to bad, but it only puts out 5 volts and 11 watts, so would be a deal breaker for me.

Nah, they look like a good size for me to be honest. Any good UK retailers? Next I need to choose a RBA any good companies for those?
The first link in my original post should be working now. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Ego's & Mods

UK eCig Store - Electronic Cigarettes Retailer

Realize that most RBA's can leak if not kept in a vertical position, which may dampen their use as a portable away-from-home delivery device. It's more convenient to use clearotanks or cartotanks for on the go use.

Size wise, a Mini Provari is about perfect for on the go and use at home. Just as durable as any mechanical mod, too.

all atomizers will leak under the right circumstances, even clearos and cartos will leak. I use nothing but rba's and find them easy to transport and great on the go. The only time I have a leaking problem is when I've accidently flooded the combustion chamber, but generally can be cleared up fairly easily and not have any problems with leaking. My Term-C has never leaked on me, even when flooding the chamber. I simply shut down the juice control and vape till the excess fluid is atomized, then open it up a bit. Great rba for on the go, plus since it has a 5 ml tank, no need to worry about refilling it at work. I personally find my rba's much more convenient than most other atty's. Now some genesis rba's can be a pain, but even some of them are good to go too.

A protank is just an ok atty, you can do much better. the new iclear 30s is supposed to be quite good, am impressed with the Aspire Vivi Nova BDC tank also. PT coming out with a version 2 with dual coils. So that would be one to keep an eye out for.

I agree, the Kanger Protanks are ok, a good choice if you use tank-cracking juices because it has a pyrex tube.

I prefer the Innokin iClear 30. Dual top coils with 16 wicks. 3 ml juice capacity. Never had an issue using four in rotation with juice leaking. Very nice flavor and vapor production almost comparable to a cartotank.
