I used to use Johnson Creek ejuice VG only mostly Vanda and loved it but it has diacetyl (all their flavors do contrary to popular belief .... except their new apple flavor) so I started experimenting - with other vendors.

I bought some ejuice from Red Rock Vapors and Mt Baker Vapor that both vendors said are diacetyl free - the juice from Red Rock is Pirate a classic tobacco flavor and the ones from Mt Baker are all variations of vanilla - vanilla tobacco, vanilla cupcake etc and their RY4 blend - all max VG. I even bought a few flavor concentrates - vanilla and coffee.

They are all disgusting and all have a foul smell. Since they are from 2 different vendors and both have that same putrid smell ( disgusting and foul alcohol and perfumey maybe?)-

I've been reading and am guessing they need to steep (and possibly breathe). I opened all the bottles for 24 hours and now have them in a cool dark place and am going to shake daily.

Will that horrible smell/flavor (yes I tried it) go away? I had to wash out all my equipment. I actually had to let stuff soak to get out that disgusting smell.

I am out of juice - I took one bottle that I am willing to experiment with - it is a vanilla ice cream with zero nic ( all the others are 12 nic and I bought this one in case I needed to cut down since I am now using a subbox nano).

I transferred the contents to a amber glass bottle double plastic bagged in and put in in hot water - will that work. How many times should I do it if it does work. Any other ideas?

All the other bottles are in plastic - I have many more amber glass bottles so should I transfer them all or wait?

Also I have also bought unflavored nic base from Mt Baker - does the unflavored stuff need to steep too.

If the flavors come out good - I will order more and make sure I never run out again and that stuff has time to steep but I am kind of stuck right now and am ready to go to a B & M and diacetyl or not get me some juice....lol

Any ideas and advice are very much appreciated.

If it smells / taste that bad now no amount of steeping will make it better, you can try and take the top off and air out for a few hours but some DAP free cheap juices consist of beaver anus extract as a substitute.
Just a suggestion for the future http://www.mountainoakvapors.com/default.asp

You might just be out of luck. I find JC to be pretty decent juice

I never found MBV flavors, especially the tobaccos, to be awesome. With time, though, they become bearable.

You are on the right path, but I don't want to speed up the process with the hot baths. Uncapping for 24 hours is good idea, it lets the concentrated byproducts escape. Transferring to glass may or may not help; good juice would not need to go to that measure.

If you're out, go to Walgreens and get some Njoy classic tobacco.

Thanks - I do like JC - as I have been becoming more educated I decided that I wanted to stay away from diacetyl - because I vape constantly - their new apple flavor has extremely low concentrations - they posted their testing results - but have not posted for other flavors.

Off to the B & M - I never tried Njoy but I will now - I also have an old Blu cig so I could do get a few tanks and find another place to order from

Can you link to the JC diacetyl info? I'm surprised.
Hey - I had been reading about Diacetyl and have really been on a mission so I emailed JC (who up till now was my only supplier) and they emailed me back saying that the info was not available but was in the process of all their juices being tested and results posted publicly. So I called and the rep said they could not discuss how much is or is not in them - they think they know the answer but could not discuss until the results were in. So I then went back and forth with email and calls and they eventually linked me to this because I wanted diacetyl free.
    https://www.johnsoncreeksmokejuice.com/shop/e-liquid/jc-baked-appleshtml

If you go to that link you will note there is a button that says "View Results" and it tells you the results are from Enthalpy Analytical, Inc. and as you will see it is very low - according to their chart - I have not verified safe levels yet. That is the only flavor they will currently confirm and that results are listed for.

I was a Vanda person and folks are saying that it appears to be reformulated - no word if it is because of the diacetyl

Actually, there are a number of other ejuice flavors that JC has Enthalpy Lab tests for.... you have to look thru the ejuices and click on each one to see if there is a certificateI

Checked the link. The results don't say that it has low numbers. It says that it was non-detected (ND) to that level. So, if there's any in it, it's below that level and below the sensitivity of the test.

Hey guys, I just stumbled on this thread and had never heard of diacetyl before (I'm a pretty big noob with anything vaping). Anyway, when I just googled it, this link came up:
    http://blog.mtbakervapor.com/the-truth-about-diacetyl/

It's saying that study findings indicate that diacetyl in cigarettes has levels 110 times higher than diacetyl found in vape e-juice, and cigarettes (even with such a high level of diacetyl) have not been linked with diacetyl-related illness--what they're calling "popcorn lung," or bronchiolitis. It also says that the level of diacetyl in e-juice is lower than the "strict safety limits." So, if cigarettes have way higher levels, and people smoke 1, 2, 3+ packs of cigarettes a day without ever getting this lung disease, I think you're fine with a little bit in your e-juice. Hope this helps!
