Welcome and congrats on vaping.

As some have already said DIY is a very cheap way to get your e-juice, I do have to agree with others tho tanks are juice hogs. The best options I personally have found for using less juice even tho I am a heavy vaper is either dripping, which can be a pain at times. Or a bottom feeder. I love my reo mini as it is mechanical, but they are not cheap. We do however have a someone here on the forum who make bottom feeders at a cost that allows people to try one without breaking the bank.

Now of course bottom feeders are not for everyone and you may not like them.

No need to apologize at all! This is my first e-cig (bought in a convenience store, of all places); I'm bound to screw it up a time or two before I find all the good info on them. Actually, I didn't even know that other types of e-cigs existed besides those that look like real cigs until around 2 days ago.

In saying that, you'd think that e-cigs would be advertised more. I didn't know that they are this wide-spread. I thought that they were some sort of gimic, and not worth my time. If not for getting this new job, I'd still be extremely ill-informed. The internet is the only place I've found information about them. Considering the fact that they offer an alternative to giving yourself lung cancer and sharing second-hand smoke, you'd think that commercials would be all over TV.

And it probably is sub-standard. It looks like a cigarette, and the cartriges come pre-filled. This is it exactly:

21st Century Smoke Kit (2 Menthol Refills, 1 Battery, 1 Wall Charger) on eBay!

LOL that's the one I started with! Non menthol though. I took my kids to a US airport to send them down to Florida for a week with Granny and bought a disposable at Walgreens. Didn't like that too much so when I went back to pick them up I bought the one you have. Still have it too! Those things definitely give you that asthma feeling - I found out later that I drew way too hard on them, burnt out a cartridge the first time I used it. What it did show me though was that I could get by without real cigs so I'm really glad I bought it. It was the beginning for me as it is for you. Wishing you a lot of luck on your journey! I'm sure if you can get a good PV model and some decent juice you will be well on your way to quitting the cancer sticks. :)

Congratulations on your decision to give up smoking. I also used RYO and was saving money that way. I found my first ecig at the drugstore and loved the idea but was not very satisfied. I also couldn't keep up with the cost. I found this forum and read like crazy till I found courage to ask questions.

I recommend that if you know anyone that will be giving you a holiday gift, ask them to give you something that will help you stick with ecigs. That is what I did. Some are giving me cash, others buying surprises for me. I only had $55.00 to invest at first. That was my December RYO budget. This is the greatest gift this season to yourself and your kids. Happy Holidays!

Ok, I think I've pretty much decided to start with one of the eGo styles. I need something portable and durable enough to keep in my pocket while at school/work. This style looks like it might work for that. Now, I just need to find a nice, strong menthol juice and I'll be all set!

Thanks to all of you for your advice. I can't remember ever coming across such helpful people in an online forum community. You really take the cake.

I'm not a menthol person but my son is and I got him menthol crystals. You can look at youtubes on using them. They are cheap and you can add them to any juice you like. Some break a tiny piece of (they are very strong and it doesn't take much). Others put them in a small bottle about halfway up, put PG in it just to cover the top of the crystals, and let it dissolve, then drop one or two drops at a time until you get the desired taste in your juice. Also, my son seemed to like an easy DIY I showed him of cotton candy with the menthol. In fact, a couple menthol smokers seemed to like that to get started vaping.
