Welcome Claudia! I second Mountain Oak Vapors (soon to be in Chattanooga), and there's another good B&M there too, Vintage Vapors (they don't have a website yet). You should also check out the "Scenic City Vapers" group on Facebook. We have bi-monthly meetings in Chattanooga, next one is August 11th. Lots of friendly & helpful vapers, vendors, raffles & our fearless "leader" is none other than the famous vaping Greek.
Thank you for the welcome and heads up about the FB group, I've joined.

Ok I went to the Rocky Top Vapor site and I may have already changed my mind, lol. I'm looking at two of their starter kits, joyetech eGo T Kit, and RTV eGo Cartomizer Kit, has anyone tried either of these?

A "tank" system can be a pain. Tend to leak and I got irritated with 'em myself. But, since you're looking at eGo style systems ("eGo" being a style or standard, not a brand), you're talking batteries that are compatible with tons of stuff. You can use 510 threaded cartomizers with an eGo or eGo clearomizers or whatever else eGo there is. I even used up the last of my Blu cartridges with my eGo Twist batteries. And I still keep some Boge 510 cartos around because I have a few liquids that just seem better in cartos than clearos. Not sure why.

Mountain Oak has a website, as well, www.mountainoakvapors.com

Neat thing about visiting the store is they have all their flavors out for sampling and usually have great in store specials. They give you a free 15ml bottle of juice, your choice, with a kit.

Yeah I know, but I have panic disorder and have a lot of trouble driving any distance at all, I'm pretty much stuck here in Dayton, and I can't get anyone to go with me so I'm stuck with online. I tried to talk my SO into going and he's not interested so that isn't likely to happen. :(

Ah, I can sympathize. Two quite literally historic disasters later, I got a bit of PTSD myself. I have trouble getting myself out the door to go the store some days.

I suggest this kit: Spinner/Twist combo to a lot of folks these days. You could use that page as a guide and shop around if you want or just order from My Vapor Store. They are a registered vendor here on ECF. In fact, their section is this way: MyVaporStore so you'd have support from them and ECF members.

My personal kit (that I put together largely by trial and error) is "Joye Ego C Twist 1000mAh" batteries (as they call them on that site) with "Vision Ego Clearomizer 2.0" clearomizers. Very easy to use.

And far as the clearomizers (any of them, Kangers, Visions), they're very, very easy to use. The "assemble" part is just screw things together. No tools or complicated instructions. Filling is tilt the little tank looking clearomizer and dribble the juice in. And far as cleaning, I just rinse stuff out and let it air dry overnight. It's really simple stuff. And one reason I've gotten in the habit of recommending an eGo kit like My Vapor Store has for new folks. There are more fancy vape set ups out there but if you're new, go for something simple.

Can you tell me just how big these kits are, or can you point me to photos showing the size in comparison to something that would give me a good reference? Also how much difference in vaping time between the 650 and 1000. I don't really want to make a spectacle of myself out at the drag strip for example. At my age I'm already a spectacle enough, lol.

Lessee... well, my mom has mistaken mine for a pen when it's been in my top pocket. It's about the size of a Sharpie pen. Little longer but roughly as thick (not the really big Sharpies, the regular ones).

A 1000mAh battery is 4 3/4ths inches long (just measured one) and my Visions are about 2 3/4ths inches long. All together, the whole thing is around about 7 inches. A 650mAh would shave about an inch off that total. And they look about a half inch thick. Around that. The battery fits in my hand and only the Vision is visible.

Poking around YouTube, I found this guy doing a review of both the Spinner and the Twist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kspxr-nSleI. Dunno him but he's showing both batteries. The tank he uses is a Vivi Nova which is thicker than the battery. The Vision clearomizers are more slender and about the same width as the batteries. Like... here's something:

497038577_653.jpg

The Vision clearo is on the left. I just like the way it fits the, oh, lines (?) of the battery. Some clearos bulk out like the two to the right in the picture. Not sure what batteries those are in the photo but the eGo style battery is pretty much the same across the board. The higher rated ones are longer and the Visions are slightly thicker but for the most part, they're the same shape.

So if you're concerned about the look, I think the Visions look "sleeker". I have a Vivi Nova Mini and it works great but I just don't like the "barrel" look sticking on top of the battery. :)

Far as battery life, I'm a pretty heavy vaper and get about six or so hours on a charge out of a 1000mAh. So I'd estimate a 650 would last me about four hours. They say 100mAh should be about an hour of "average use" but I'd get 10 hours out of my batteries if that worked for me so I must not be "average". So you could probably expect four to six hours on a charge out of a 650. If that sounds like it'd be enough for you, the 650s would shave some length off and make for a more compact unit.

Also, one nice thing My Vapor Store did is let you "mix and match". You could get a Joye Twist 650mAh and a Vision Spinner 1300mAh in the same kit. Use the little one for being out and about, the big one at home. And if you find you like one or the other best, you can order batteries (and all the other parts) separately and from different vendors. You're not stuck with just one "shop" or anything. The eGo style is all over the place.

Oh wait, here's a "side by side" battery pic:

ego-battery-size-comparison.jpg

One of the cool things about "eGo style" is how widely supported it is and how many widgets it fits. They have inside and outside threads like this:

egolatest.jpg

(Think I stole that photo from The Ocelot :) )

Those "inside" threads? Blu cartridges fit. I used up the last of my Blu cartridges on my Twist. I dunno Cig2o but the web says they're 808 threads so those cartos wouldn't fit. But the Blu's will.

And in my experience, the Twists and Spinners look bulkier in the pictures for some reason. My first Twist, I made myself go to a vape shop in the city because I thought maybe they'd look too bulky and big. Then I saw one and it wasn't. I did a, "oh okay" and bought it. :)

Ok, if you're going mail order, don't overlook Value Vapor. They kicked .... on my eVic.

Yeah, VV is great. I get a lot of my stuff from them. Especially Visions and the coil heads. They're right over there in the city and ship so fast, I get overnight service for First Class prices. :)

They do get stuff out the door fast. Any faster, they'd have to go back in time or something...

Good to hear these guys have good shipping. What's nice is when a site has a good staff that can get things out the door and on to a truck. I hate waiting around 3 days just to get a confirmation that something has just left the warehouse.

VV's good. So's Cignot. I get "shipped" notices out of either so fast, makes me wonder if they took my order by telepathy or crystal ball or something. :)

(Heh. Suddenly had this goofy image of somebody hunched over a crystal ball saying, "I see... 2.4 ohm coil heads...")

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Bufitnut I am just up the road from you. :) Do you know of any B&M shops that are good about being helpful? While I can get some supplies here in Dayton I really can't get much help.

What others have said Claudia. Mountain Oak Vapors and Vintage Vapors are the only reputable B&M's in Chattanooga area. Both are very helpful.
