I've been browsing and came across this: KSD K-Max Hybrid Mod. Shiney and I've fallen in love with black chrome. But, is it any better than a VAMOs? Or is it just too much?

That is about the same size as the Vamo, for about ten bucks more.. But I like the look of it better.
I still use an eGo for most of my vaping as it is so convenient and small. One thing I've found is that I like to have a wide selection of Clearos to use for different flavors.

:offtopic: But holy vapor chef menu. Close to me and I get paid both jobs Friday. Definitely know where I'll be placing an order. Glad I read this thread! I am a new gal to vaping too :)

It's bookmarked over here. Even the fiancee was excited to hear of the Butter Beer flavor.

@DavidOck - Completely! I have pretty tiny hands so the small eGo fits nicely. ^^ (Also have been able to tuck it between the breasts for holding and it hides nicely.)

I'm new too so I'm liking all the comments that you are getting because it's very educational for me as well. With that said, I bought the joyetech ego kit for my first starter and about 2 months later realized I was somewhat outgrowing it. I upgraded to the vamo and love it. You can leave a section of the battery out. Basically it has 2 batteries and the whole middle section can unscrew so you can run it with just one battery which makes the whole unit much smaller. I bought on amazon 2 replacement batteries for like $10 which actually came with a plastic carrying case for the batteries that holds 4. Being female, I felt that running it on the "shorter" version looked less dramatic if I take it out in public. It doesn't scream "hey look at my GIANT ecig!"

My fav tank that I use is the protank. I have several of these and they fit my vamo and my ego but the protank mini I think fits the ego better and doesn't feel top heavy. This was just recently released as well and I honestly can't find anything wrong with this thing other than price. But, I have yet to have one leak on me unlike my other clearomizers etc.

I have the vamo 2 but pretty much a month later there was a vamo 3. I also bought mine in a store locally and probably overpaid by $25 from what I can see online. The vamo 3 in black chrome seems AWESOME. I try not to have buyers remorse. :)

Also, I was going to local stores initially to buy juice but I almost feel like now some of it is "junk" compared to what I have ordered online. My fav juice sites are virgin vapor and from there if you like cotton candy, you will flip over theirs. I also favor the going bananas flavor - it's seriously the best banana I have ever tried. they make a great chocolate/tobacco blend I think called dark side of the moon. And I'm digging their orange creamsicle.

my second favorite place is mt baker vapor. You can request extra shots of flavor to ramp it up.

I hope this helps! I've learned from trial and error but there are things on the equipment side that I wish I would have known before. From a juice side, it's all about trying it out I think. :)

No particular benefits to a box over a tube, or tube over a box.

They feel different in the hand, and it's a question of what's comfortable for you. I have both, and like both. That's me.

Wow~! Thank you for the input and guiding me around a bit here. What happened to you is exactly what I wanted to avoid. I have to ask questions before going too deep into something. I'm really digging the black chrome VAMO3. So you have the ProTank Mini? I've been looking at the Nova Tanks. I'm one for cool looking shiz.

I'll def look at the flavors you've suggested. I'm still going nuts over Butter Beer.

Excuse me,

Tuck it between the breasts.

I think you may have a bit of trouble doing that with a vamo. (only kidding) welcome.

...snip...
Now, gosh... where do you start with modding? How do you know if certain tank/clearomizer goes with said battery? I'm pretty certain I got a knockoff at the shop I went to.
....

Hey Cruiz, welcome!

Modding required a lot of skill, patience, and time to understand the mechanics of electricity. Modding is a great way to expand your vaping knowledge, and will that comes a lot of additional knowledge on circuitry.

snip...

Just interjecting a bit. ECF has a modding forum. It's for "modding", that "modders" do. That is to say, they build (or in some cases customize) their e-cigs. Many build them from the ground up with electronics schematics, soldering irons and parts, etc.

Using a mod (APV) is vaping. Not modding. Just to be clear. It helps with the discussion. One of the reasons the APV term came up is the confusion on the term "mod". lol. Still everyone seems to use "mod" to mean anything that isn't a cig-a-like. Some use it more specifically as in APV's with advanced features. So "Mod" is one thing, but "Modding" is custom build/change stuff. Just to clarify.

So I was initially a bit confused as to what you were asking.

Anyway, there's tons of great answers above. Any Variable Voltage kit will get you started until you can read and absorb all the information. Check connection type in the item descriptions on the vendor pages, and read reviews. See the modder's section if you wish to customize stock stuff or build from scratch.

I used the term loosely since I had stumbled over the modding section. I had no clue prior to this that it could be as simple as thing 1 goes with thing 2. Hence why I asked so many questions and then steered off into where I'd like to go for my next step.

Honestly though I don't believe I'll be building my own APV by hand for a long time.

I think... I just fell in love with gotvapes. I'm seeing so much... I want so much.. I need to mix and match and be awesome now. (Oh good grief what did you guys do to me!?!)

Skinning is a cosmetic mod! :)

Take some time to shop a bit and read reviews. It takes time. Sounds like you have vapable stuffis for now. There's tons of mods. Tons. Those are some good ones. But the more you look, the more you find!

Also, since you're very all knowing here. What about Ohms? For example.. this: Oakley Gemini Dual Coil 2.4ohm

OMG. The ohms thing. Gets every new vaper! lol.

OK, there's tons of posts on it so do a search too. But the short of it is:

Ohms = electrical resistance. AKA...electrical friction. Slowing down the electrons. So higher ohms reduce electrical flow more than lower ohms. So lower = hotter.

That said, what do you do about it?

For a VV (Variable voltage) device, you can adjust the voltage. True for Variable Wattage (VW) too. So you can use about anything.

For fixed voltage stuff, including mechanicals, you have to select the proper ohms for the device and situation. So select a PV 1st, and then we can give you more info on what ohms works with what.

When in doubt, try selecting from the 1.8 to the 2.5 ohm range before anything outside that range. 2.3 is about "standard". But YMMV.

HOWEVER: That link is for dual coil stuff. And it's 2.4 ohms...but that mean 4.8 ohm coils and is for very high voltage stuff. (I haven't used those).

You probably want to stay away from dual coil stuff for right now. It's a longer explanation than I have time for right now, maybe someone else will chime in. But unless we know the device it's used on (the PV/Mod), it's kind of hard to explain. There's amp limts...

If in the first week you love it,, It only gets better.
A great mod to own is a VV650 Vamo . About $40.00 for the complete kit from VaporBreak / INCLUDING THE SHIPPING
The Unit,,,Battery,,,Charger and even a clearomizer.
1- Adjustable voltage ( 3.0 to 6.0 )
2- Adjustable wattage ( 3.0 to 15.0 )
3- Configuration for use in NO1 or NO2 mode.
4- And of course it reads the ohm's of the coil. Something you probably don't understand yet, but you will in time. And you'll need such a device when, and if you get into the rebuilding the coils & wicks.
5- THE PRICE CAN'T BE BEAT.

Welcome!

Edit: Holycrap they have Butter Beer..

Have to say, I am pleasantly surprised with this flavor. Took a risk on it not knowing what to expect and while at first didn't taste spectacular, it has really grown on me. If I were to give it an alternate name I'd go with butter schnapps, mostly because I can taste the butter more than the beer, which is very subtle or just need to spend more time with it. Very smooth though, I dig it.

Certain a Vamo will be in my future.
