Hey All,

Been a few years since I've been on this site.

Way back a few years ago I got me a... something. RN4072? Does that sound right? Mini-stick, organic cig looking thing... Anyway, I went with it for a couple months, got some juice, tried the dripping thing, refilled my own carts, etc. But it just wasn't working for me. Too putsy, too much fiddling around with everything just to get my fix. And I gave up.

Well I got to thinking about vaping again and I see there's all sorts of new stuff out there.

My question - does the new gear tend to eliminate a lot of the fiddle-factor? I understand there is still recharging, refilling ect. But if I could go an entire day without refilling anything or swapping out attys or carts or dealing with dead batteries... may give it another shot here.

FYI - I don't smoke all that much - usually 8-10 organics a day.

Thoughts?

Fiddle free? All of it has some fiddle factor involved. For a good setup, I recommend a KGO from hoosierecigsupply.com, a drip tip or 2, a boge of boge cartomizers, a box of resurrector cartomizers (crystalclearvaping.com) and a DCT (dual coil tank)...grab a few atomizers to test flavors with also. Basically, you punch 2 holes into the base of the carto (take the end cap off, put threaded end through it and mark where you want your holes to be...they should be just above the cap inside the tank). Insert the carto into the tank and then fill tank. Place top cap on. Let it sit for about 20 minutes before using. I know that sounds like a lot but it's easy peasy to do. If you have a dremel, cut a slot into one side but don't go too deep. Cut just until you can pick through the metal with a needle. Remove the metal strip and proceed as above.

The Boge won't fit the dct...too short. If you like the Boge, vaporescence.com, bigdaddyvapor.com, and many other vendors carry shorter tanks that work well with them. Pricier but better built than the DCT's.

And if you like a glass tank, check out www.phiniac.com. They have some really neat pyrex tanks.

I find the least daily fiddling comes with a bottom feeder (I'm partial to the REO). You fill a 6mL bottle, put in a charged battery, and most folks won't have to fiddle with it all day, unless you vape a LOT. I do vape a lot, and all I have to do is change out the battery once. I keep a couple of bottles filled for easy change out...

With that said, please read the posts on battery safety and mod safety before you go there. A little knowledge goes a LONG way around these things...

For a factory made device (which MAY be a bit safer until you've learned the ropes), I'm a big fan of the eGo-C right now. Easily refillable tanks, most would only need to change out the tanks once a day or so, on a good, long lasting battery. The new eGo-C is very similar to the eGo-t, but they aren't as finicky (read- less fiddling), they don't leak, and I think they taste a bit better...

The advancements in vaping equipment have been remarkable just within the nearly a year I've been vaping.

I'm with hairball as to a 3.7V eGo-type set up. I also highly recommend the eMDCC.

Welcome back!

Bottom feeder, not a bad idea. You could even go with a top feeder?

There has been quite a bit that has come out in the last few years. Might want to check out the review sub-forum?

(Not my video, but I have one of the units in that video and it is the one I really like to use when I'm driving as it is fiddle free for a few hours at minimum. I'm a natrually fiddly guy, so that is pretty amazing to me.)

At a half pack a day, a standard carto tank setup, doesn't need to be extra long DCT tank, might well be enough.

I'm partial to the notcigs variable voltage PVs, own three of them, though there's plenty of good gear out there. On the Infinity and Buzz Pro I go through 6 - 7 ml of eliquid at 2.5 ohms, 4.5V, just over 8 watts, between battery changes -- for you that might easily be two days of run time, with two tank refills. I really, really, like good VV -- the power, warmth is satisfying, and changing voltage on the fly is nice, lets me nudge things throughout the day. I use the notcigs M1A1 carto tank with it, which fits all standard diameter cartos. An Infinity Pro, with two sets of batteries and charger, runs $120 delivered ("ECF Buzzkill" coupon code), and if you buy their M1A1 tank at the same time you get $10 off on the tank.

A lower price of entry would be one of the fat battery eGo clones, kits run $30 - $40 for two batteries and charger. Liberty-flights, with their october20 20% discount, is pretty popular. Add a carto tank to one of them and you should have low fiddle factor, use it with Boge 2 ohm or resurrector 1.7 ohm cartos. (with the 1.7 ohm cartos I'd tend towards a larger battery, a 900 mAh or larger).

If you go with a standard carto tank, there are various ways to get the holes into the cartos. I posted over in the PIF area on a simple, reliable, low cost punch, and cloudsofvapor has one that does the same thing. A fair number of people use self-piercing saddle valves, but those drove me nuts -- I used a dremel to slot cartos with a tube cutting wheel until I came up with my simple, low cost, punch.

All the prior suggestions are solid. The vaping world's changds a lot in a couple years. Have fun :)

I have to drill/dremmel stuff now? JFC...

Ah - WTH, I'm impulsive and pulled the trigger anyways. Just ordered me the KGO starter kit for DCV. Read a bunch of good things about it today. So here's what's coming...

Couple KGO batts, charger, drip tip, etc.
5 Boge LR 2.0 cartos
5 SmokeTech XL 510 single coil cartos
Ego Mega Clear Dual Coil Cartomizer
and a couple sample packs of their juice = 35 ml juice total with the extra 5 that comes with the cartos.

Any estimates on shipping/process time for them to MN? I'm used to Amazon Prime free 2 day shipping and start twitching when anything takes more than 48 hours. ;)

Best of luck. That's all good stuff to get you started.

As so many of us say around here, if I can, anyone can. You'll find the biggest group of confirmed smokers in this forum, and all of us have made the switch to some degree... Just remember, liquid will never taste like burning plant matter, so you might be better off to go the other direction. My current favorites are Peach and Vanilla, though I rotate constantly.

Concur greatly with this post. The "fiddle factor" drove me nuts too until I got the EGO and EMDCC together. Awesome vape and only have to put in a ml or two a day and keep my bats charged.

The KGO is a great choice. You won't regret getting a carto tank (whether it be fitting to a dual coil or standard sized boge).

Once you get over the very small initial set up and know how on it, it makes vaping easier than smoking analogs.

Fill the tank up, vape for hours/days depending on your pace. Tank gets low or empty, fill it again. Carto inside becomes a bit undesirable, put a new one in and refill. Easy peasy.

I've been reading that. So I avoided the tobacco type flavorings. Went with some coffee types, a little mint, a little fruity... 7 different flavors all together. Also did the 70/30 PG to VG blend which was noted on the site as their standard blend. And did the full strength 36 mg nic.

Watch the classifieds in a few weeks for my sale (or not) to see how it's going for me.

Maybe I'm too early in my vaping and I'm just naive but I've got an eGo-T 1100 Battery and I fill up a couple of cartos in the morning, top them off when I get home from work and recharge the battery at night. I went from 30 analogs a day to none in less than 24 hours, its simple enough for me. Best of luck in whatever you choose.

BOGE LOW RESISTANCE (2.0 ohm) 510 XL CARTOMIZERS

You can make vaping as fiddle free or as fiddly as you want.
A couple of the more modern batteries and a bunch of prefilled cartos, and it's less fiddle factor than keeping a full lighter with you at all times.
Or you can become a flavor junkie (like me), and have more junk than you know what to do with.

I like things as fiddle free as possible! Just started with an ego manual battery. It came with some empty carts, but those were pretty small, so I bought a clearomizer. Just screw it onto the battery, fill with 1.6 mils and that should last you all day! I tend to chain vape, so I do top it off now and then. Plus, I like to play with flavors and mixing them up!

So glad to have you back to vaping!

If you smoke half a pack per day, just about any battery you buy will last all day except for the cigarette-sized ones.
And there probably dozens of different options for holding juice that will easily last you all day as well.

You would have far fewer reasonable options if you smoked a lot more.
But as it is, you are going to have more options that you know what to do with.
    :)
