Nice photo and great example of a hot spot.

I was thinking the same thing! It is much easier to help when people know how to present the problem at hand (even though he was posting this after that particular problem was somewhat rectified.)

After reading so much of this thread and marvelling at the level of help, expertise and candor, I felt comfortable in making my purchase of The DID...I had to do it, becasue I am a doer!

I bought extra nuts, a clear window, and The DID. I will be camping out from here on out--even if I don't chime in, I will be here--taking notes and learning.

c623cc, It's getting there... I did all the tricks in the book... Oxidized 3 times, soaked and burnt liquid off three times and so on.

To be honest, it's not half bad... And getting better by the minute. The above image is from the first coil, I recoiled and it seems I got rid of the hotspot.. Vapor (and especially flavor) is picking up. I'm vaping pure VG and I THINK I used the 325 mesh... Everything seems to be getting there :)

I have to say one more time and be clear!
I am not an expert
many DID owners are much much better on a setup!

Now IMO
what I would do here is
a.the wire sould be lie down (grounded) until the start of the mesh hole then I go up and round
b. I would push the mesh exactly up and down from the hot spot with a toothpick
and that's it!
I love fotos! help a lot to everybody!

Jim,

What can I say?

I got a notification on Tuesday that my order was shipped. It arrived in Los Angeles today on Friday. I mean that's so fast. Thank you so much, I'm off to assemble and try it out. Just wanted to thank you again for your super fast service. Both DID's are here with all pieces ordered.

Even with the more expensive shipping I did not expect it for another week. Amazing. Thank you.

Not gonna crucify, but am going to disagree. Americans "don't suck"! And that's not just because I'm a tax paying veteran. I work for a multi-national company and can tell you with 100% certainty that every culture has their wisemen/fools, generous/greedy, kind/cruel. But, impatience has no cultural, political or geographic boundary and rude people are rude people no matter where they are from. I think in this instance, the US looks to be intolerable because of the intolerable service of our own postal system. I'm sincerely sympathetic for the strain put on Jim. It's neither appropriate nor necessary. I have not heard anyone blame Jim nor flame the awesome product he provides, I think we witnessed a panic due to uncertainty and lack of information (people just freaked out when there tracking number stopped in NY for 2 weeks).

And please for love of everything truthful, take a look at every unfortunate situation in the world, anywhere someone in the world is in need, and you'll find Americans there giving their blood, sweat and tears for those less fortunate.

I'm sorry if this sounds "preachy", that statement just kind of stung a bit and does not represent the majority of people I know, love and respect...

Let me say, please forgive the intrusion.... I tried to stay away from this comment, but....

I say with hand on heart, to put your life on the line for YOUR beliefs is a very admirable virtue. But the perception of selfless American generosity, around the world, is very different from yours. I noticed all the '+1' posts were only from fellow Americans,..... on an International site?

The 'gimmee my DID NOW!!' expectation exists across all nationalities and I agree the Americans are no more guilty of expectation than the rest of us, Brits included :)

.... but to then throw a 'Saviours of the World' comment into the mix, (especially when the more objective listeners around the world have heard no cries for help from the American cavalry,) for the love of everything truthful, take a look at every 'unfortunate' situation in the world and I'll show you where the US has benefitted either politically or economically.

Praise be that the White House hasn't decided that Jim needs help and sent in the military.....
.... he'd end up with a military base in his back yard.....

Edit: PS... just my opinion.....

Same here.

Nope, not on the order information page.

I also chose the TNT shipping, "RealTime Tracking Very Fast", option, and haven't been given a tracking number.

There was a note from Jim though.

I'll just keep waiting patiently. Bummed about not getting the tracking number though, so much for the "RealTime Tracking".
Fed Ex just delivered my "Real Time Tracking Very Fast" that was shipped on the 18th. Same order TNT called me yesterday on apologizing for a customs delay. So it appears TNT partners with Fed Ex and two days shipping is better than outstanding. :) :) IMO

I shall keep my mouth shut because of Jim's request, however, if you would like to open a discussion elsewhere I will give you a reply gladly. Viva la DID, for now.

Do you know if the shipping services will ship to a po box? I live in a rural part of Arizona and dont get mail at the house.

I have no idea. I have my stuff delivered to a UPS mailbox which I can use as a street address, like their address + box 111 = apartment/suite/# 111

While I wait on my DID to arrive, I just decided to read this thread from the beginning. By the time my DID gets here, I will have a list of particular posts written about certain issue/topics so I won't have to ask for veterans to repeat themselves. My goal is also to be able to direct those like me to pre-existing posts so that we/they can stay relevant without junking up the thread. This thread is so beautiful in that there is real beef here without being covered in inedible fat. I will try to keep my number of extraneous posts to a minimum.

Customer service is one thing, but customer to customer service is priceless. Knowing I won't be left alone to fend for myself is a huge selling point.

If it was me I would go ahead and push that bit of wire flat like Jim was talking about soon because it can develop a hot spot right there and pop the coil(had it happen myself not paying attention). It can also be part of the problem with the hot spots if you do indeed still have one. When you get one it is usually the coil below it causing it unless it is right at the nuts and in that case it's usually that the nuts are not making the proper connection(or has been my situation in that case).Good luck and enjoy it like the rest of us already are.:D

I agree, I reread the many posts gleaning new information every time. People have been very generous with their techniques and strategies, I did the same thing as you before my DID arrived, and consequently my DID has overtaken all other devices I own. Hope your package arrives soon, good vaping.

I just ordered a DID and the additional clear section for myself for my birthday.

I also will be reading this thread in it's entirety to learn as much as possible before it arrives.

Thanks in advance Jim for what is sure to be my nicest piece of vaping hardware and for making the DID available to us without having to join a list and wait for it to be made at some unknown future date.
