Yep, but I played around with the measurements of everything, and I think I'll just butcher another top cap/top plate and use that for the dual wick setup. Gna add the 2nd wick hole right in between the ground and fill screws, then add a new fill hole on the opposite side of the top plate right in between the two wicks.
Plan on using the fill hole for the second ground?

NatGasMan, MiriamWTH, Brigit, and Cloud Wizard thanks so much for helping me out I just couldn't figure it out. I'm not sure what the exact issue was, but after a full cleaning and drying it's back to working fine. Right now I have 4 wraps of 32 gauge kanthal coil sitting pretty at 3.1ohms. BTW, I just ordered a spool of 29 gauge kanthal so I could try making some 6-8 wrap coils just to try it out.

Yea. Not a lot of room. Another option is to run a non resistance wire to the other side of the u wick then wrap a second coil around it to the center post.

Just thought I'd mention on a previous dual wick mod I drilled a 1mm hole down the center of fill screw and used that as the second ground and a fill hole, works great with a plastic needle bottle. Doubles as a tank vent breather or you can seal it with a silicon plug between fills.
Cutting an m3 thread in good ss can be a pain as can drilling the small hole in the first place (cobalt drill bits a must) If you make a mess of drilling the fill screw ( sure this doesnt apply to you Rick)it's easy to start again with another one.

Is the air hole supposed to line up with the wick when fully tightened down? Mine does not lineup at all. I didnt mind before but now its driving me nuts. Lol. Is there supposed to be a o ring in the cap thread area?

Its well known that the duds don't line up too well, never heard of any from Jim that didn't.

Suppose to line up perfectly and all mine did till i dropped one a few times. If the airhole stops before you reach the wick theres a chance you can fix it. If it goes further then the wick theres no way to fix it without a o-ring (wich normaly isnt used there).

There is a fix I use on one of my DIDs that has had a super hard life ( was perfect when I got it ) where the cap screws down with the airhole past the wick.
I pull off a tiny amount of cotton wool from a pad and lay it along part of the threads on the top platform then mark a tiny dot on the knurling with a marker where the wick is, then screw the cap down until it lines up with the mark. You need very little cotton wool and it lasts quite a while as it gets wet from juice and stays say in the threads very gently tightening up the topcap without the look of an unsightly o-ring.
