I just had an "Genesis Epiphany" of my own! I've been wrapping 4/3 coils forever with either 28awg or 0.24mm ribbon kanthal and getting a consistent 1.1Ω. While the vape would blow my socks off with a freshly charged battery, when it got down to 3.6 to 3.7v it just wasn't good enough so I'd change my battery. I just took a coil off my 0.24mm ribbon and tried a 3/2 which metered at 0.85Ω. WOW is all I can say! Why did I not try this before! Spectacular!

Wow, I would have thought a 3/2 would have bene much lower than that!
The 0.24mm ribbon I'm using is 8.93Ω per foot. I think Tony is using 0.31mm ribbon which is 5.57Ω per foot. Also, the D20 has a wider wick hole than the Gemini so the coils are wider.

Wanted to thank Tony and Cloud for their help with the multimeter last night. Approached it with new eyes this morning and figured it out. Total user error. I was trying to test the voltage under load using mV instead of V. Hence the OL reading. The atty ohms were jumping around due to the ground post being a bit unscrewed when I put the clamp on (I think?) reading a steady .8 ohms with a 4/3 wrap of 28g, which is where I expected it to be at.

I am however getting .7 voltage lost under load which while still good I was expecting a bit better though. What is everyone else getting for voltage loss? My batts are only like 1 month old (MNKE18650). I just cleaned my contacts less than a week ago so I don't know. It was .8 loss but switched out my spring as it looked way different than my replacement one. I think I'm gonna do another cleaning and see where I'm at. Also play around with switching the button to the bottom and see which is more efficient. What good is a new toy if ya don't play with it right. God I love tinkering!

Somewhere in PA on my Ultra Limited
I wan't sure it would get enough air so I raised the contact a bit and works great.

Great tip. I'm going to dig around in my junk drawer, I have a SS cone/drip tip for my 1.8ohm Cisco 306s in there somewhere that might look pretty cool. All my dripping lately has been with a HH.357@2.0ohm on my Provari. If I find it I'll post a pic

:). Voltage drop tests are very hard to do. The drop is mostly due to load on battery, you are pulling close to 5 amps out of a little battery. It's not the poldiac IMO. You don't sound like a young guy. Remember the cars in he 70s early 80,s had volt gauges when you hit the start button. They went to about 6.
Not that you would like the vape but wrap a 3 oms coil wil some left over 32. I bet you get less then .2 drop.
I lost ,47 on this test. But again aw battery. .7ohm coil.

I am also using cw's double spring. I did see a change with that.
To me the threading of the adjustment screws could create a poor connection if the pressure from the spring thru the battery is low. Give it a shot. I likey

I'll give the springs a shot. I did know about the internal resistance of the battery, but as this is my 1st time seriously paying attention to it I was curious the readings other people were getting. I do remember those cars btw. Lol thanks again Tony.

Hello Diders o/
I need to buy a back up charger just in case.

I sorta like these two here?
NiteCore IntelliCharger i2 Charger

Nitecore Sysmax I4 Intellicharger

I was favoring the first one because i thought I read somewhere it's newer.
Also thought this
Sysmax 12V DC CAR CORD for IntelliCharge i4 Smart Battery Charger would be handy for road trips.

I have the Trustfire TR003P4 18650 Charger and like it but thought something a bit newer may be a good idea?

Found some some interesting info on these two links the other day,
Batteries and chargers

How do I test a charger

I think the NiteCore chargers are pretty consistent with not over charging with 4.2/4.4volts when done. where my Trustfire TR003P4
seems a bit heavy on the 4.5/.6 volt side when done and not sure thats good for lifespan....hmm

Just a update from my purchase a month ago, My NiteCore IntelliCharger i2 works great and does have about the same output charge as the Trustfire TR003P4 (4.5/.6) so I'm not gonna worry about it I guess.
I did read someone used a car charger on the i2 and it started smoking  hmmm.

Does anyone ever use one in the car?
It doesn't come with one so I didn't order one yet, and may not.

Anyway there is a lot of battery and charger pron for ya here as well Tony
too much data... hahaha
