when i smoked i couldn't even roll a decent ciggy,,not even when i would partake of the funny stuff either :O what should the size of the mesh be to start with ??

Lol. All mine looked pregnant. Never could roll without the baby bump. Maybe I missed something. I thought it came with a few cut sections of 325 and 400 mesh? I better look again.

EDIT. It says it comes with the mesh already cut so u just have to roll it like a cig and keep twisting on it till it fits in the hole. One tip. Take and fold one end of the mesh so when you wrap the coil of wire its not touching a loose end thats just dangling and can short the coil out creating a hot spot. Dont have to do it that way but its a trick to make it less troublesome. Wish I had some mesh so I could make a video. I seen it some place and cant find it now.

See if I can explain the fold a little better. Fold the end of the mesh that your rolling towards so the outer edge of the mesh is tucked under when your done rolling it up. When mesh is cut it makes the edge loose and can create shorts where the wire coils wrap around it.

I used a dct tank cut down to the height of the ss DID cylinder. I did this with a Rigid #10 tubing cutter with a cutting wheel for plastic tubing(special ordered the cutter wheels years ago). I then lightly filed(rat-tail file, rasping/circular motion) each end of the clearo leaving a very slight taper so the DID ends could be inserted into it without damaging the o-rings. I lubed the o-rings with a couple of drops of juice to prevent binding and possibly damaging the threads on the center tube.

Marty

What particular DCT did you used?

The DID mesh size in cm's to inches

I think the correct size is 3.5 x 5 cm. Which will equate to 1.37" x 2"
You can also roll it around a medium paperclip to give it more stability.
Mine is on it's way .....so I will get to experience first hand soon :)

Does the propane tanks for the grills work for this if I get a pipe/tubing to connect to the torch head? Also could you get an example of the torch head. Is it something like this Worthington Pro Grade Brass Torch ?

or a whole kit like this : Bernzomatic Fat Boy Propane Torch Kit ?

I'm in the UK, but don't you guys have a little device called an IRODA MICROJET?

I use one for work to heatshrink insulation on exposed wires....

Micro-Jet™MJ-300MJ-320.jpg

It uses a standard butane cigarette lighter and fires up just the same as those cook's torches. Cheaper and much easier to use....

You can roll the 1.37"x 2" mesh around the allen key that came with the DID. I believe it is a 2.5mm size key.
i have watche the video several times ,, well when i woke this morning i decided to give it a try again,,half asleep\awake and i got right the first time without using anything but my fingers..imagine that ?? first few draws not so great,,,but then the flavor starts to come through, i should have ordered two !!! now i just gotta figure out my own perfect wrap wire combination

Mine arrived today. Set up was easy and mostly trouble free and the house is still standing. Wicks are working fine, but I am having a little trouble with hot spots with the coil. I have spaced them out evenly, but still get hot spot at the top where it connects to the brass washers.

Any suggestions or tips?

I was having the same problem at times. As it turns out I was wrapping the coil to tight around the wick. It can't be to tight or too loose. Just a slight learning curve. I've been happily vaping away all day today with no problems at all.

Marty
ok. that makes sense, I am pretty sure I am wrapping them too tight. Let me try going a little easier on wrapping the coil.

Will have to wait till tomorrow...Playing a tournament and have an 8 am singles match and and noon doubles match. Need to get some sleep.
