Good morning all!
Here's a few quick tips I'd like to share while I'm online.

1. be sure the coils are evenly spaced and close together but not touching.
2. make sure the wire is close to the base before heading up the wick.
3. make sure the wire is close to the wick before heading over to the center post. (picture Captain Hook)

Junkrock(sp) has the best visual on how to rig the top coil in his new tutorial. It's towards the very end somewhere.
I hope someone can link to the video, I don't have time to find it, gotta take the kid to the Dentist.

That's the ticket right there, been doing this on both of genis and it makes a HUGE difference. I'd almost rather over kink/hook it and get a short because that's easily sorted out if it happens, vs. not do that and have my chain vaping interrupted by a searing hot coil

Let me say, please forgive the intrusion.... I tried to stay away from this comment, but....

I say with hand on heart, to put your life on the line for YOUR beliefs is a very admirable virtue. But the perception of selfless American generosity, around the world, is very different from yours. I noticed all the '+1' posts were only from fellow Americans,..... on an International site?

The 'gimmee my DID NOW!!' expectation exists across all nationalities and I agree the Americans are no more guilty of expectation than the rest of us, Brits included :)

.... but to then throw a 'Saviours of the World' comment into the mix, (especially when the more objective listeners around the world have heard no cries for help from the American cavalry,) for the love of everything truthful, take a look at every 'unfortunate' situation in the world and I'll show you where the US has benefitted either politically or economically.

Praise be that the White House hasn't decided that Jim needs help and sent in the military.....
.... he'd end up with a military base in his back yard.....

Edit: PS... just my opinion.....

I kinda have to agree with that...and sorry Jim, I did read your post shortly after this mini discussion got started, about...we are all the same etc...and I do agree with that.

Not stirring...not anti American... or anything, and yes I do agree that there is good and bad in all society's but the U.S in my opinion does have a lot to answer for in the troubles we have as a whole in the world...I'm not talking about your average Joe here but the U.S Government...C.I.A etc...have definately stirred up a whole lot of trouble in this world of ours...and don't forget the U.S bankers and traders that helped start this financial situation that we are all in at this moment in time.

I hope I haven't alienated myself by putting my opinions up...as I will more than likely be calling for help in a few days when my DID arrives....

Okay, so I've been reading this awesome thread every day for a couple (few?) weeks. It's been fun, like the being the fly on the wall of a vapor lounge filled with cool people. :)

I got my DID maybe a week ago, and I've made a few wicks and wrapped much more than a few coils, and I have some questions. I would have asked them earlier, but I thought "come on, Gomtuu, you've been reading the thread, something will pop up, just put your head down and power through it." Alas, it is time to join the community.

Right now I've got a fat wick (I think it's 400, but it could be the 325), snug in the wick hole. It's been torched and re-torched, and juiced and burned. It's neither touching the bottom of the tank, nor is it up higher than the top of the center post. My coil is a 4/3 wrap of 32 A-1 Kanthal, and it's steadily reading at 2.1 ohms. I wrapped the coil on a large screw, and it is not too tight on the wick. It's snug. I'm not seeing any hot spots when I dry burn it. My tank is filled with a 50/50 juice. I'm using the DID on my Young June V2 (which looks downright ugly next to y'all's ProVari's and Caravelas!), and even at 5 volts I'm not getting much flavor. Vapor is pretty good, and throat hit is fine (light, but that's how I like it). This wick and coil setup has been through a couple tanks.

What do you guys think? This same juice tastes great in a 1.7 ohm carto at 4 volts, and produces just as much vapor. I know it's all about the process. I'm all about the process, for that matter, and I'm enjoying the journey. I just thought there might be a secret magic word or something I forgot to whisper... ;)

DIDn't anyone teach you the secret handshake? :)

Have you tried a different juice? I have found some that tasted pretty good weren't so good and some that we're meh really good. Sounds like you're setup is pretty solid.

I knew there was a secret handshake! Does it involve torching?!

I think I might try a different juice. This stuff was making my morning in a carto, but I should know that different kids play differently when they're in different people's houses. Thanks, Wizard.

Hmm, has more to do with spinning around three times, clicking your heels together and shouting We're not in Greece anymore Toto (.... naked at full-moon....)

Glad you're finding some juice that works for you. I posted the same question (way back when we walked to school 10 miles up hill both ways) and someone responded very kindly telling me that some flavors just "benefit" from the addition of polyfill... I had completely given up on tobaccos (for over 6 months) and now love Boba's Bounty, Gorilla Juice and IKV RY4 Gold (they simply come alive for me in the DID).

Got my Did two days ago and had it running in 15 minutes.....thanks to the 10 million posts in this thread.:). I wasn't happy with the vapor and flavor and tried removing the fill screw. Bingo! A lot more flavor and a freight train of vapor. Give it a try.

Agree. More important if you roll a fat wick.

That handshake, while fabulous, is more involved than I was hoping. :p

I think I remember reading that "polyfill benefit" post... Strange but true, the world of juice is as subtle as a drop of dew on the wing of a ladybug in dawn's early light. I'd envisioned myself chucking my cartos, as so many others here have done, but I'm nowhere near that stage yet. And they're so much easier to take on the subway!

Funny thing: The juice that DIDn't work too well for me today in the DID was a tobacco juice. I've heard that tobaccos really sing in a genisis atty, but I guess the couple I have aren't of the right... quality. ;) I've yet to try the AVE stuff, and the RY4 I used in my DID (not today) had way too much vanilla in it. It's cool. I still love my DID. And my cheap 555 from Oregon.

Side note: I just knocked my mod and DID over, and my steady 2.1 ohms shot up to 2.5. Dammit! Without taking off the top cop and fiddling, the ohms are creeping slowly downwards. I love this tiny, mysterious game!

Hey guys, I have a feeling this has been answered several times already, but could someone post a link to the "jackfrost oxidation method" that I've seen mentioned and recommended many times? Thanks!

What's up, Giant? :) You don't really need a link for the Jack Frost method, as far as I know. Someone may come correct me, but I think it's just torching your mesh before you roll it.

The other part of it is not torching/quenching after you roll it. A couple juice burns are optional. It worked well for me and it took a lot less time then the "standard" method.
