No, Ya that's good conversation. Only them dam things cost way to much. Its like the KF poly tank deal. You know its going to break, so why spend so much to get one. Did you see that classy post with like 50 glass tips? Not sure exactly but I know the price tag was over a grand for the set, and I just don't get it. As much as my kids or myself knock this poor thing over its just not an option. Maybe if your friend isn't trying to pay the mortgage with each tip he sells I can take a look. This one was $6

It was easy to wrap the coil on the soft wick. I wrap the coil before I place the wick in the DID.
Was it a bit trickier to wrap the coils around the wick without it being stiffend from quenching or did you leave the tool inserted until you were finished? I wish I could brave that shortcut. I *know* it's working for others... but.... I'm such a chicken.

Post pictures yet?? I want to see this set up. I bet she's beautfiul.

I like it pretty well, I'd say. I do have some issues with it: It seems to produce more power than the display indicates (must be that pulse width modulation that everyone's barking about); the fire button is slowly turning black (right now it looks like a black and chrome nebula); and with all the electronics up top (where I guess they have to go), it's kinda long as hell. Despite all that, I'm really liking it for my DID, maybe simply because it's the only thing I have right now that will tell me the resistance of whatever's screwed onto it.

Honestly, I have a hard time recommending or not recommending it. Besides my lil' eGo Twists, it's my first variable voltage device, but it's hitting harder at 3 volts than a Twist at 4 volts (yes, even on a 2.5 ohm DID coil), and considering that the Twist uses the same technology as the ProVari to adjust voltage (if I remember correctly)... I don't know, it's something to think about.

I'd say hold out, personally, maybe. I can't remember, do you have any variable voltage devices?

Thanks for info. I currently have a volcano chrome lavatube, works great, but have the same fire button turning black issue. Just looking for backup. Might just go for a mech mod, but still deciding. Also considering a Provari.

heh... I am like stalking ebay apparently...

Resistance heating wire Kanthal A-1 33 awg 100 ft, | eBay

I guess 33ga for those wanting higher ohm build...

got myself a few... so after all of that shipped, I will be sitting on 200 ft 30ga, 400ft of 32 (which bring up my total to 800+ ft here and there) and 200 ft of 33... I think I am done looking for kanthal for awhile which is a relief after the recent draught.

I have a couple of sheet of mesh... maybe I need a few more...

Hate to say it but your collection remains incomplete without the 34
It's actually what I'm looking for right now so if anyone spots 34 at the ebay pricing I'd
appreciate a heads-up. I'm looking....

Regarding the twisted method...does anyone find the coil gunks up quicker?

I was gonna say yes, they have to gunk up quicker. But then I took the top cap of my DID for the first time since yesterday afternoon, and my wick and coil look the cleanest of any setup I've done on the DID. Weird! Maybe when I take this coil off I'll see more gunk, but right now it's looking like it's ready to go to the prom.

I DID, however, just run my finger along the coil, and it came back a little brown. Not gunky, but brown. My juice is brown...

I didn't see that classy post, but I believe it. People are a little crazy about their glass tips! The cheapest I've seen is maybe $25. I think if I had a better job, maybe I would have bought a glass drip tip by now. I could see not wanting to invest when your PVs are always getting knocked over. Personally, I might wait until my friend can make a prototype for me. ;)

If you get a ProVari, I think we both know which mod will become your backup. ;) I think my next mod will be mechanical, for many reasons, the main one being durability. I figure a DID and a mechanical mod are a couple things that will last forever.

Hmmm...in this case, something is wrong with my eyes or my monitor.

From the picture, the replacement center pole and nuts sure looks like SS to me. (no longer the brass colour)

I just checked Jim's site and to me the pin and nuts shown under the regular did look brass. You may want to send Jim an email via his site to find out for sure. Please post back his reply so we all know for sure the availability of the stainless hardware.

Have you tried it on a different device? Do other things work on your ProVari?

Maybe you need to (carefully) take your DID apart and clean it up, especially the connections.
