I have a question, I'm not too good at mechanical mods: provari at 3.7 is the same as a mechanical mod?
Wow, finally got the 30awg ka1.
Started with a 2/3 wrap on a thin/fat wick and it damn near made my head explode. I consider myself fairly rough and tumble, but a 0.9ohm coil on that wick (18mg/100%VG@3.2v) lead to an immediate nic headache (fair warning!).
Wow. Just got my 200 feet of 30 and 32 awful a-1 kanthal. I will never by a cargo again. Long live my DID!

I've had my eye on the Vmax for a while now, as that 5A discharge rating is pretty enticing for a non-mechanical mod! Have you tested the voltage under load when vaping it close to 5A? The pricetag makes me think that the performance at the upper end of it's advertised spectrum might dwindle a bit, but then again, I'm always warry of electronic ecigs. If it breaks and I can't tear it down to troubleshoot and isolate the problem, then I don't trust it. Thus why I've trimmed my collection down to 12 mechanical mods and only 3 that bearing any sort of wiring or electronics (2 provaris, which I typically give to my girlfriend to vape on, and an Orion v2.1)The DID is working extremely well on my Vmax. 5a (advertised) limit, stacked with PWM. It seems to be more sensitive to shorts, likely due to the high spikes during its PWM cycles, however once dialed in this is an impressive combo. Might be an alternative for those seeking for more oomph. They're fairly inexpensive now if you look around for deals, i.e. $70-80.
Ahahaha, sorry! My intention wasn't to offend! I was just trying to make the point that in my experience, 10W isn't nearly enough power to run my devices the way I want to. For instance, 10W with a 0.8Ω coil is only going to give you 2.8v! Where as my unregulated mechanical mod running at 3.7v spits out a fairly steady 17.11W and 4.625A!Thank you for the serie of videos rwechsler, apriciated.

WORD UP! Since I started using RBAs about 9 months ago, I think I've used MAYBE 5 cartomizers! And most of those were punched triple coil cartos that I was vaping at 6v in my UFSv2! But now that I have the DID and my various other genis, I just can't fathom using anything else. Hell, I'm spoiled to the point of where I can't even vape on a 510 Joytech LR atty!Wow. Just got my 200 feet of 30 and 32 awful a-1 kanthal. I will never by a cargo again. Long live my DID!

Oh Class - you done gone and DID it DIDn't you? Patience can be tested during these DID times....
That doesn't update until its delivered, so it could be anytime, a USPS surprise
LOL!! Stay away from the tracking number, Classy... far farrrr away.![]()
Thank you Mr.Man
when I started this I really whondered what I want more "money or recognition"
the answer was sooo easy!
Recognition!!!
The only thing that will stay in this world from me will be that and my soon coming kid
all the others are bank's property!
If I ever saw you something bad was from overworking and not a bad Jim,
there is no bad Jim over here!
All of my life I didn't bother anyone in any way and if I did apologise for that!
Maybe now I am on the best time in my life because I feel what I needed so many years
"HAPPY"
Thank you ALL

Rick, and anyone else interested in the Vmax for that matter, there's a very comprehensive Vmax owners thread here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ktech-vmax-owners-tips-tricks-quirks-153.html
All sorts of info including tests by an electrical engineer who is a regular poster on the thread. Like any mass produced Chinese product there have been some reported defective units so if you decide to buy one, just make sure it's from a reputable vendor with a good exchange/refund policy.
There are a number of posts there on the DID/vmax combo and for the most part they reflect positive experiences, mine included.
I believe one test actually demonstrated a 4.7 (or so) amp limit that stayed very stable, provided excellent quality batteries are used. The vmax demands top quality IMR's that can withstand a high constant sustained amperage; anything less and you're simply not going to get what this device is capable of.
The unit appears to satisfy even the most power-hungry enthusiasts. The consensus is that it always feels as though it's hitting harder than the indicated numbers. I would not suggest the vmax/DID combo for novice users as there is a bit of tweaking and adjusting involved to get these two units working correctly together. But in the right hands, the quality of the vape can be quite remarkable.
I hear you about mechanical mod reliability and no doubt there is much more that can go wrong with electronic circuits. However, at the prices these mods can be had, it's worth the risk for me. Going on 4 months now with an original v1 vmax, the last 2 vaping almost exclusively with the DID under what I'd consider heavy use (and abuse). I feel I've gotten my money's worth already and anything henceforth is just gravy.
I find the vmax's features most useful with the DID, from the ability to instantly read coil resistance to making fine voltage adjustments as the coil/wick breaks in, crusts ups, juice changes, etc. I also think it looks great with the DID (particularly the SS finish), sporting the exact 20mm width.
I'm not saying this device is the be all and end all with the DID, just another tool to get the job done, and IMHO, a very good one at that.

WOW! Thank you for such a detailed response fuzzy! You've sold me on it, and I think I'm going to order one when I get back from my trip. Lately, I've been exclusively using these 1500 mAh 18650 MNKE IMR batts that have a continuous current rating of 30A, so they should be more than adequate to hold 5As with a DID on there!
So is the matte the "satin" finish?! The satin mini did on the site looks more "Precise" Plus-ish than the photo above showing the matte finish...
I doubt you'll be disappointed. Won't take the 18650's though...vmax uses 2 IMR 18350's.
