Hmmm, the website says all stainless in the description, but the video clearly shows some brass parts. So I wonder which it is on current models?

I believe the mini is SS, the regular and short regular DIDs are brass, with option to add SS. I don't think Jim converted regulars to SS. There are a lot of folks that prefer the brass and only use the screws...or stay brass all the way.

The atomizer come with brass. The SS is just an upgrade if you choose. I have been using the brass and it works amazingly. I bought SS upgrade kits for my DIDs b/c of the reasons I stated earlier. It's not necessary though IMO, it's just another option.
If I break the pin, then I guess DID isn't for me. :D Seriously though, due to other hobbies, I'm used to dealing with really small parts, and having to have some patience with things. I think this will be right up my alley.

It would suck to break a center pin! How would someone break it though? I can and usually do break stuff. I can honestly say that the center pins are super strong, at least on mine. I haven't managed to break it yet.
It would suck if you broke the center pin. But you would have to work to do that. Really no wearable parts. Maybe insulator.thingy on the top inside under the nut In a year or two.

I should of been more clear. Clear tank good idea. Drip tip nice Other stuff backup.

Awesome, thanks folks. Now for one more question, can anyone confirm that the following will work? (I assume I'd need the center posts for each also)

Get a Gemini + Standard top cap & tank + Mini bottom cap & tank. The you could mix match to use any of the 3
(I'm pretty sure the center post/pin on all three is the same just different on the shorty and in one of Jim's photos he's inverted the Gemini tank so the ends must be the same)

Alright, Ive been pondering getting an advanced atty tank for a while now. Ive looked into Odysseus, Zens atty-U, Orion and I hear lots about the DID. Tell me please, some unbiased (if its possible) reasons the DID is better/ different. I know there are a lot of variables, but what Im looking for is something rugged, easy to setup( i know, I have to make the wicks and coils) I want the least fiddly, complicated, twitcthy, and leaks are a big factor. I hear with all the ones listed you have to keep upright or juice will wick right out the tops. Also, I hear that you have to tip the others, especially when juice runs low to keep wicks wet. I need something that I can take around with me and not have to worry about loosing my juice. OF course looks and fit is important. I will be putting it on my Saber Touch and its a bit over an inch in diameter, so its either the reg size DID or the short. I thank you for your opinions and suggestions. The DID is beautiful and is well made from what I see and hear.

Ponder no more anavidfan. The DID is quality made to last and you can build it to suit your vaping needs. Here is a pic just for you :)

Actually, I should have read that more closely. What I meant was buy the regular sized DID, and get the short DID body, inner tube, and hardware so I could convert back and forth from regular sized DID to shorty at will. I have a Provari mini on the way, and I'm just not sure which size I'd like the aesthetics of best.

Or.... get one of each. :D
Add up the cost on the post, and SS short tank, and tube, and you're half way there.

I use all mechanical and 3.7 w/IMR batts. One DID is wrapped with 30G and 4/5 wraps - the other is 32 G and 3/2 wraps - sometimes 4/3 wraps - no problem. Dont worry about ohms- I never check my ohms - I go by # of wraps and what tastes best. I think - IMO - people make too much of an issue on what their ohms are reading. It's all about the flavor first, vapor second. Just wrap the wire, check for shorts - if ok, then vape it.

Good advice for those using mechanical mods- Thanks dspin!

i always thought going into customs would say "inbound into customs" .. that's how it is on the west coast at los angeles isc
The new yorkers live by their own set of rules. They probably use our packages as poker chips for as long as they can sit in their hands.
