After 3 weeks of utter bliss, and at least 10 perfect coils, I am having a DID day from hell! It's so strange how all of sudden I can't do anything right. I got so frustrated that I set it up using silica wick!!!!! Works pretty well by the way.
Well, tomorrow is another DID DAY.
I have experienced this also. I had my mini set up with silica because i couldn't get a good coil going. The 500 mesh (or maybe a good DID day)fixed that. On Saturday I made new wicks and coils on all seven DIDs with no trouble at all.
I have some ceramic wick in the mail.....wanted to try it.....we always need something new to tinker with.

This is not true. The provari has a 3.5 amp limit in the lower voltages then a 14.5 watt limit in the higher voltages. It is unfortunate. Mine has not been getting as much use scene I got my dids I don't know why they had to go and put that watt limit on it. With my V2! I can only output 5.1-5.2 with a 1.8 ohm coil provape will confirm this

Great info. I've been going crazy trying to figure out why I'm getting errors trying to push mid 5 to 6v on my 1.8 - 2.2 ohm coil that I know it is short and hot spot free. Spent hours recoiling and nudging coils thinking I must need thicker glasses to see the shorts that weren't there.

My Caravelas in production so guess I'll have to wait a few more weeks to try higher watt vapin.

After many painful days tying to decide whether to get a new VV or a mechanical mod to compliment the DID,I finally bit the bullet and ordered a SS ZMAX. I still want a Mech mod but am still hoping Jim will presently festoon one upon us that will make us all drool  to the extent that the money just slides out of our hands and off to Athens.
So in the absence of that greatly anticipated announcement:

I received my SS Zmax today!
First impressions are:

Positives Lots & Lots

- Great looking, great finish, heavy and solid feeling in the hand, powerful compared to my feeble LT V1,difficult to put down:),reasonably straightforward menu system, very handy Ohm readout (accurate, and great to see when my DID genesis has a minor short, Ohms are 2.4 when good and dropped to 1.8 and 1.5 when a part of the coil was hitting a poorly oxidized part of the SS wick),love the wattage power setting, blue display is nice,my DID loves it

Negatives Only two minor ones!

Power/Fire button is solid but not all that easy to get used to as it is a little vague when engaging, although as I type this it is freeing up a little and becoming more positive feeling and "clicky".
The threads on the battery cap are, as has been mentioned pretty foul, and not at all confidence inspiring.
I don't know what NOALAX is like or what it is made of, but remembering that graphite is conductive, and a dry lubricant, I have rubbed the treads with a builders pencil to help with the scratchy sloppy feel of the end cap threads. Time will tell if these harsh threads will smooth out after a while.

Score 9.5/10 for VALUE

Overall I'm very happy, and although the negative list looks longer than the positives it's not!
Longevity is my only concern, and who cares about tomorrow, I paid $134 inc postage and received it the day after I ordered.

So I went to give my DID a good cleaning after vapin some Pluid to clear out that intense flavor before switching to another flavor. Had all the bits soaking in some alcohol and reached for my clear tank gave it a quick dip ( no more than a second or two). Rinsed and Wiped it dry and hairline cracks everywhere. They don't look deep or large enough to leak but man it ain't pretty. Not sure if it was just the alcohol that did it or a combo of that mixin with somethinwith the Pluid residue, but I'm positive there were no crack in it after havin just Pluid in it for 2 days.

Well at least I had just received a frosty blue and smoked tank linked here a few pages back so all is not lost.

They were probably there before you dipped it in the alcohol, and the alcohol probably dried out the cracks, phluid is a tank killer.

I live on a military instillation so the TNT deliver guy probably couldn't get to my house. I will just call them and arrange a meeting so that I can sign for and pick up my DID. I already have mesh, wire and a torch ready I just need my DID so that I can see what all the hype is about! I know it is good, I have been watching reviews for weeks and following this thread so I shouldn't have any issues setting it up. I'll have to set it up after the wife and kid go to be tonight.

I did the same thing to my clear tank. The alcohol instantly cracks it. Had to order another one but hey, it gave me an excuse to order the mini :) I won't make that mistake again. Or will I ;)

I just have to ask Dspin, do you vape wearing some white gloves, because I would hate to put a greasy paw print on that thing. :D

Looks like my DID is getting on a big ole jet airliner, and leaving Greece!

No I use it buddy, but - its a fingerprint magnet for sure, wipe it off every so often, then again when Im done. Next Caravela will have one tube brushed finish for something different. Trust me, it doesnt look like this after touching it. I have to carry it outside in a microfiber for photographing and move it around with said cloth.

If the flavour becomes muted, the vapour drops off after a few days, I find it is (not always, but quite often) due to a build of gunk on the coil…. Some juices are more prone to causing this than others, but it is especially true for me as I use homemade tobacco extract and even after filtering it as best I can it still has some very fine suspended particles in the juice.

However, there is no need to strip it down and make a new wick and coil, the wick actually matures and gets better with age, the coil can be cleaned with a dry burn.

Gently pull the wick out with a twisting motion, leaving the coil in place, then slowly in short bursts, fire the unit and watch until the coil has a good even all over glow. When it is nice and clean and glows orange evenly, replace the wick and check for hotspots….

Fixed, very quick, no tools needed, and back to vapeing like a train.

If the wick is very bad, and all clogged up, you can just re burn it.

Next time I do it, I will take and post a few Pics.

Is forgot to mention that I only use flavorless juice... My coils are pretty clean, så I don't think that the problem is gunk...

Welp it looks like I will have something to tinker with all weekend. Hopefully I can get it set up fri night so the wife and I can go shopping tomorrow.

Gotcha, well at least you actually use them. I have a couple of friends who have some pretty nice stuff (not vape related), and they're scared to even use it or get any enjoyment out of it. Unless it's super collectible, or worth a ridiculous amount of money, I just don't understand that mentality. I'm much more utilitarian in my needs (not that I don't like something that looks nice too, but function over fashion every time), but to each their own.

Ok, I'll bite... How does the flavor, or an unflavored juice get muted??

Edit: should have refreshed page before posting..
