Cool. This device also provides a nice stable platform for constructing the coil.

Yeah, I got one of these last month. I remember rwechsler mentioning them a few months ago. I use mine every time I make a coil... like today in my new(second) DID! :)

I used about 110mm of 500 mesh with a 5/6 30AWG kanthal A coil to get 2.2 Ohms. I'm very happy with this set-up and would recommend it to anyone with wicking problems. Gotta go now - I'm waaay too buzzed on nicotine to be posting! :)

I love my DID and spent the money to make a order on some accessories. With my purchase I also order the new stainless steel hardware kit and also a couple of clear tanks. And also a couple of clear tanks for my mini DID. One problem is one of the tanks had a crack in it. So now what do I now. Here is a new pictures of my new set up and also the cracked tank. So bummed about the cracked tank. The wait for my accessories took forever. Yet I'm very happy with the new hardware.

Just a follow up.. Jim D worked quickly in helping me with that.. He emailed and PMed me.. I just wanted to make a point that he is behind his product 100%.. :) Thanks Jim..

After cigaret-lookalike, midrange and high-end it turns out there is another level...

Top-Class!

I thought this would be the perfect combination in the mid-size that would meet all the demands I had for my first 'life-time'-setup.
Well, I'm holding it in my hands right now and yes, for me this IS the perfect combination.
Everything is in balance in this combination

My compliments, Jim...excellent!
Thanks for such beautiful work done.
I'm very happy with it.

The next is bringing it to life and I'll make you some pictures for the album.

Wow, that looks great Brig. Fine looking PV w/DID.

The Gemini has landed!

My photo skills don't do this any justice at all, sorry.

While I love all my DIDs I think the Gemini so something particularly special. The design is outstanding and I received an absolutely flawless example with the typically high degree of craftsmanship and machining we're accustomed to seeing from Jim.

It vapes like the mini, which is to say, outstanding, except it has a slightly larger tank. It's the lines of the Gemini I truly love and I believe this is going to be my favorite. Notice the flow with Jim's drip tip. Yes, they are ALL Jim's drip tips in the pic, and high quality ones at that with a wide bore opening. While I think it looks great on the SS Zmax I can envision how it would look even better on a flat-top mod like a P+ or Caravella. Frankly, I don't believe any DID collection would be complete without it.

The only thing I find with the mini and Gemini is that pronounced chain vaping will heat up the top/tip more than on a standard DID. Not burning hot but certainly warmer. This is to be expected as the thinner metal and smaller chamber will not dissipate the heat as much as on a standard DID. This is not a problem for me as if I'm in the mood to chain vape I either use the standards or change the tip on the Gemini/mini to my longer Tanbur SS tip or another non-metal one.

I ran out of Maxes so I had to use my iTaste for the mini pose. It works well with the mini, particularly with a 2-ish ohm coil.

As for how they all work on the maxes....well, as you can see I have 3 of them and that should tell you something :)

Thanks again Jim for your excellent products and customer service!

Hey, that gemini looks great, I should have ordered one. I did order a short did though, so maybe next time

Just a note for those having issues with shorts. Last night I went ahead and tried some 3mm silica wick. I used 2" and folded over one end 1/2" to wrap some 32awg Kanthal around the doubled wick. Inserted the single end into the wick hole and all I can say is this, for me, is much better than the SS wick. Not only does it taste better and give me more vapor, but it even wicks great with the screw in the filling hole! Just my two cents.

Hey Pete - pics of this for those who may wish to try it when having mesh issues.

I think I promised to post a few pics next time I had to do a dry burn of the coil on one of my DID’s.

All juice will eventually junk up a coil, reducing flavour and vapour production.

NEWSFLASH ! You don’t need to build a new wick or a coil, simply follow the pictorial guide below:-

This is a pretty gunked up coil (allowed to get this bad for demonstration purposes)…

CleanCoil1_zps5366f0db.jpg

Step 1
Gently remove the wick with a slight twisting motion, trying very hard not to disturb the coil…
CleanCoil2_zps91e0f0ea.jpg

Step 2
This will leave you with the gunked up coil in place, like so…
CleanCoil3_zpseef90ab7.jpg

Step 3
Next, gently and in short bursts, fire up the device, until you obtain an even orange glow over the length of the coil, burning off gunked up deposits…
CleanCoil4_zps80141f60.jpg

Step 4
This will leave you with a relatively clean and functional coil, almost as good as the day you wrapped it… I fired it a few more times after this pic, just to clean it a tad more...
CleanCoil5_zps12ac786c.jpg

Step 5
Now slide the wick, very gently, back into the coil, with a twisting motion, again without disturbing the coil. If, you do squash a wrap, you can open it back up again with a toothpick etc.
Note the arrow on the pic below, this is where the wire terminates on the centre post, there is still a little junk on the last little bit of wire, don’t try and get it all… I find that this helps insulate that last little bit of wire, this is a notorious hot spot and it eliminates it… Bonus!

Hope that helps some of you….

Which is the best mechanical mod for standard DID? atomizer + mod want to look like a hybrid (no space between the atomizer and mod )

It all comes down to personal taste and budget I suppose. I really like the Super T Precise + flat top with a DID on them though.

Amen to that!
Standard DID on polished P+18500

Shorty DID with clear tank on 2-tone polished P+18650, though I'm switching out the tank for a SS one and polishing up the entire mod.
