Thanks for the link, I will ask around and see what folks think. That a lot of dough for a guy like me to "order a few" for amends when I dont think I did anything wrong other than use a description that wasnt correct but was fixed upon learning so.
Maybe if someone with a micrometer could spec it out, you could make the right one for us. You could probably email Jim and he'd give you the proper measurements.

Guys, sorry did not to mislead or misinform anyone. I have corrected the description on this glass tube. I have no experience with the DiD and just make stuff folks ask for and this was one of them.

Sir I take my Hat off for you for changing your site so quickly and coming to the forum too. (and i don't take my Hat off for anything normally!)

Wish I had a micrometer. I would love a clear glass. Maybe I'm going to have to bite the bullet and order an SS tank for my "spare parts" DID.
:)
But I'm avoiding that because I fear a mini will tag along for the ride

I think ordering a few DIDs should account for a proper amends ;)

looks exactly like my real DID with a non-Kir francis tank,,so tell me exactly how you tell the difference ??

The clone don't look exactly like the DID,if you have both, put them side by side.the clone is slightly bigger and the knurled section at the bottom and top are different.

I would also love to get glass tank to DID, but is this a good idea? In mods with 2mm thick tank wall is quite solid. In DID tank wall is very thin and I think glass tank would be extreme fragile. Of course wall could be bigger, like on photos posted in this topic, but for me that looks ugly. Better idea for crack-tank-liquids will be tank from siringe material.

Just a thought ;)

Failed experiment: I know a lot of folks are getting great results with 500 mesh rolled fat so I tried it. I'm not entirely sure what went wrong, but it turned out horribly for me (no flavor or burnt flavor every hit...).

I went with a way thick (~170mm - rolled solid) wick hole width. Wrapped with 30awg K1, 4/5@1.7ohm. No hot spots/shorts, bad vaping experience. I even tried unrolling and removing back to ~110mm (with a small center channel - about the same resistance) and still just yuck...

Funny how one lengthy fail session erases all the confidence. Fortunately I had my Shorty (Gorilla Juice) and Mini (Pluid) all dialed in and standing by ready to console me as I looked sadly at something I just couldn't get to work. Uncharacteristically for me, I was so fed up with it I stuck in a drawer (it's actually been in "time-out" for 2 days now....). Buuuuut, tomorrow I'll follow Miriam (with the hat)'s lead and do a complete break down and deep clean to try and wash off the crappy-wick-karma and go back to what I know works for me.

Very strange indeed cloud, cant figure out. I went to 500 mesh and my DID never performed better. Yes, maybe deep clean because the mesh itself rolled tight and fat wicks extremely well and has full flavor potential. Keep us informed with your tinkering. Wish I could offer more advice, but I know, you know what you are doing. Your setup sounds exactly like mine but with opposite results, curious.

I can say that plastic is prone to breakage too. There is another tank maker that I use for certain flavors I actually like in a carto that I've dropped many times without breaking. Now granted they don't make for the DID, but the glass/Pyrex, etc can be very durable. Even more so than the plastics. For the right glass, for the right look, I believe it would be worth it.

Nothing beats the SS, but options could be available.

Talking of wicks and oxidation....

I am just going to toss my thoughts in, and suggest a way that I now do it, that is slightly different, but gives me perfect results, every time.

I keep all the dregs of juice from old flavours and failed DIY mixes and throw them all in to a 100ml bottle.

I flame off the mesh before rolling it in the gas hob in the kitchen, both sides, air cool.

I then roll my wick, as required, normal way.

I then heat the wick to a deep orange on the gas stove hob and quench in the above bottle of juice, it creates quite a fog cloud as it vaporises some of the juice on contact. I then reintroduce a flame to the soaked wick and let it burn off slow.

I repeat the whole heating, quenching, flaming off process about three times, sometimes four…

It oxidises the wick very well, and I never, repeat never, have a problem with shorts or hotspots caused by a badly oxidised wick.

It also is a way to use up all the dregs of juice that would only get thrown away.... Win/Win.

The notches on the genuine DID top and bottom caps are shorter. Also they are pointing to the left.
