Does anyone have DID's that has both the SS & BRASS center poles? Which performs better for you? I knoe that SS Is not a good conductor so i hope you guys that have both can give a clearer review for this :)
I have both. I don't believe that anyone could tell the difference in a blind test. As Tony said, SS stays cleaner, is stronger and is easier to coil due to the different bottom nut.

Oh and Classy, thanks for taking out the trash .... again!

Pete I agree with the ground screw. I have been going back and forth. With the new nut I have to do a wrap around because it does come loose and real hard to get back under. Just to difficult to get it real tight by hand. I guess if you put a screwdriver on it it won't but that negates the purpose.

Now that i have my mech mod, I decided to try low res on big DiD. I twisted an arm length of kanthal 30 into a braided coil. I whipped up a 4 wrap on my fat 500 mesh wick. Ohm at 1.4. Thoughts: I always made an assumption that my vv mod cranked up on a 2.5-3.0 ohm coil was achieving the same vape as a low res because wattage was the same. I now think that assumption was wrong. Primarily, the hit on a low res is instantaneous. Short pull big hot vape. On my vv mod the build up was slower. You know, kind of primer puff, followed by good vape. Not on this low res. Pow, your there. Flavor seems fuller. I now am beginning to understand the lure of low res. Btw, wrapping the braided coil is much cleaner, than straight 32. No shorts, barely any coil adjustments. Easy. The key is to snug the top nut down well on positive lead. I use a needle nose to tighten top nut to center pole. No top shorts at all!

Glad you have seen the light. 2/3 wrap way to go. Just like a stinky but better.

On a new wick I run a 4/3 for a couple of hours until it breaks in. Then unwrap one.
leave a pig tail so you can grab it easy.

Even a not so good coil and wick is 10 times better the a cart!
I would cheat with the stinks before I got the did. It truly saved my life. Off the rods for good. Actually rather vape now.

yes... I get that feeling I really started vaping with the DID although i've been on dtc tanks for a year...(6 first months cheating too)...
btw, I kept the original ground screw too with the new DID...

Well Im hoping all this good stuff about the DID holds up when mine gets here. I just went and did it, I shouldn't a done it but, I DID it. I've researching it and watching all the progress since you announced it on this thread. From all that Ive seen and read, it really cant be anymore simple. I just hope I didnt get in over my head. Ive only had experience with the Vivi Nova, and the little Phoenix RA. I also have a Steam Machine VST which was more simple than the Vivi Nova. Any good links to somewhere for the SS 400 mesh? Also what sort of lighter/ butane device do you suggest, something not too large, on one of the video someone uses one that looks like its small , sort of like a lighter? Thanks in advance. Its a beautiful unit. I got the short DID. I dont know how many ml of juice it holds compared to the reg sized DID. I just didnt want such a long atty. The steam machine makes me feel like im in a Harry Potter story, like a wand. Now if I could cast a spell to produce a new wick and fill it with juice.

I believe the short is 1ml less. Not a show stopper by any means. And worse case is you'll experience bouts of wanting to test it's durability against the wall like a few of us. Myself included. But once you get it, you get it, happily. The good news is all has been covered in this thread. This community is fantastic on helping others, both rookies and vets. And some day you will be passing YOUR experiences, tips, and tricks to others.
You will enjoy the vape as long as you try, test, try again. And even when you find what works, curiosity will always have you trying something different to see if you can improve even more.
Congrats. And enjoy!

I'm so excited. My Gemini just arrived. Along with the SS kits for the Standard and Shorty and the clear window for the Mini. It's going to be a fun weekend. I can't wait to see what Jim brings us next. :)

FYI. The clear window was packaged inside two pieces of wood. No chance of any shipping damage.

A fun weekend indeed. Not many Gemini it seems, post pics on your setup when it's rocking. :)

What's the deal with the Gimini? i don't get it...
the mini you can mount it on an ego twist... its small... nice to go out with.. performs like the DID...
The gimini with the regular DID base, you need a regular mod... AND endure the surgery like setup...
please explain...

The eye wants something to admire as well ;-)

Up and rocking now at 12 watts. Vapes just like the Mini. I couldn't be happier. Well OK, I'd be happier if I had another one.
I put a few pix in the pix thread.

Style, set completion, compulsive disorder, and various other unimportant reasons.

Great thread here for #500 mesh. Plus you should find some good info in the Index found in Jim's first post in this thread.

In all honesty you have made a wise decision. I have never regretted my DID, or mini purchase. I too may pick up a short and Gemini just to complete my line of DIDs. I have heard from knockoff owners of worries over exposed copper after attempted mods, or scratching top surface and I am so glad I paid for true quality. Don't give another thought to proper set ups, this thread, the 500 mesh thread in modders forum, the wick and coil thread, etc., all found within ecf, will arm you with encyclopaedic knowledge regarding everything Genesis. My only recommendation is to go for 500 mesh from themeshcompany.com, you get it fast, 1 week to USA, and I swear it wicks great. Even if you eschew all the info here, it is really simple to get going, its just the many tips enhance the experience. Congratulations on purchase, put up pic when you get your rig going. Btw, I use an old cigar butane torch for my oxidation, re-purposed, and works great.

That is what I got with mine last week. The first chance I got was to machine (Dremel grinder) the long nut to a smaller diameter and both of the 2 nuts smaller. What they should have done is to at least machine a .... on the contact (bottom) of the center shaft for easier thightening. This gave it at least 1mm clearance with the coil.
