Welcome to ECF!!! That's great that you've cut down by half already. Soon, you won't even think about analogs. Wishing you luck and enjoy the journey!! :)

Thank you! I started on it without much expectation as I have tried gums and patches, so I am looking forward to what it might brings :) Only issue now remains is that the various governments in the world can seriously consider it a legitimate form of nicotine delivery system

Congrats! I set a date to fully get off the cigs. It really set my mind up for quitting. I started with two strengths 18 and 24mg/ml. I ended using the 24mg/ml. Don't be afraid to use a high strength to stay off the cigs. E-cigs are so less harmful then cigs, any strength will be better then smoking.

Thanks! I am currently on 6mg/ml but that's because it is very very difficult to get hold of any around where I am. But on the bright side, even with 6mg/ml I am smoking less, so that's a good thing.

hi and welcome. to give advice is not easy since there are so many options :)
are you more of a tootlepuffer (I am one), that likes mouth-to-lung hits instead of direct lung hits?
or do you want a lot of vapor and direct lung hits? how about flavor, is that important?
do you like a tight draw or more open draw?
and we havent even talked about the thousands of different juices that are available. :D

I startet with an Evod 2 which helped me get away from the stinkies. After that I went on a journey and tried different tanks and mods but until recently I stuck to these 2: The GS Air with 1.5 ohm coils and the Nautilus Mini, both on an Istick or a Coolfire IV Box Mod. But again, this is for tootlepuffing. For cloud chasing/sub ohming (which is not something I do a lot) I have a Subtank Mini which I use on the Coolfire IV, an Aspire CF Subohm or a Zero Modz Box.
The coolfire I can highly recommend as it is inexpensive and covers a beginners need (imho) for whatever tank you want to try (as long as you don't want to go below 0.5 ohm and/or try Temperature Control Vaping)

the best idea is to find a B&M close to where you live and then try a few things out. I did a lot of trial and error first until now, after almost a year, I got the setup that is just perfect for me.

I switched overnight. I say that because I kept it simple. My taste buds were burnt from smoking so flavors weren't very important. What I did was keep mine with me at all times. When I got an urge, I took 3-4 vapes. If 3-4 vapes wasn't enough, I guess I could have gone to 6-7. The important thing was the confidence that I got in not having to have a cig ever again. Got my fix and I slowly healed/rejuvenated. Smell came back first, taste was a lot longer.

Good luck!

Actually, I am not even sure if I am doing it right...I started out sucking and man, it was way too much vapor and I almost cough my lungs out. I then switch to a semi-slow(?) draw, which still causes me to cough. Strangely though, once I continue, the cough will ceased. Typically, the first few puffs I will always cough. I use a subtank mini too, with the subohm (the only setup I have), and I have to turn it down to 9 to 12 watts, otherwise I will get a very nasty burnt. I am still trying out a few ways, looking up on videos and reading up as much as I can

about the coughing:
  • Well for one, everybody who startet vaping is coughing in the beginning. So no worries about that in general.
  • But if you are a mouth-to-lung hitter, then that set-up with 0.5 coils is not for you (at the moment). That would be the reason for your coughing. subohm is usually direct lung hits only.
  • Another reason for your coughing and burning sensation could be that you use high nic (above 6mg), which can be very harsh when subohming. Even when I still needed my nic then 6mg was the max I could vape subohm. Everything else made my throat hurt and I too coughed my lungs out.
I'm amazed you still get your 0.5 coil to fire at 9-12 watts :)
but then good for you if it works. You should probably still try the 1.2 ohm coils if you vape with lower watts though. But then close a few airholes as open draw is not working very well with mouth-to-lung.

and lastly: please don't suck too hard
It takes a while to get used to the proper technique but absolutely do not try to suck like you used on the stinkies.:)
the semi-slow draw sounds about right. It's definitely a slow and almost passive draw with e-cigarettes.

wait, do you mean it tastes burnt? then that would mean that your coil is not getting enough juice and the cotton starts to burn. always make sure that you prime your wick properly when you put in a new one: a few drops directly into the coil and a drop on each of the wicking holes before you put it in the tank. and then let it sit a while (at least 5 minute) to let the cotton soak up the juice.

Yeah, I did that too, ensuring the wick is wet and just it sit for 15 mins and then a drop before re-attaching it. That's the strange thing actually, I have also tried my hand at rebuilding the coil, and it's still about the same:(

You mean, at 0.5 ohm, 9-12W can't even work at all? I have read somewhere it should be about 15W- 24W, so I am quite perplexed about it

the 0.5 is made for 15w-30w and I've heard of people vaping it at 13/14w as well but I find it interesting that you actually get any vapor out of it with 9-10w o_O

it could be that you got a bad batch of coils. what mod are you using your subtank with? check on the screen of your mod if the resistance changes during use. like when you first fire it it is somewhere around 0.5/0.6 and then it spikes to 0.9 or higher and then back to lower wattages?
