And I hope you are getting a 2amp USB to AC for the PT? A PT won't work right on a 500mA AC to USB and could actually hurt PC USB ports.

I also recommend you get separately the super cheap precut blue foam stuffing for 510 carts (I think 75 cents for 10) at strictlyejuice.com - when the white cart stuffing gets cranky, pull it out and try the blue foam stuffing (recommended to rinse first, pat totally dry with a paper towel, put the tapered in into the cart. You shoul dbe able to fill the cart about 1/2 way with juice, then put the foam in, press it into the juice, reposition so the top of the foam is near the top of the juice cup, then top off with 2-3 drops). I am using blue foam in a different ecig's cart and still using my original cart after 2 months

And 2 thumbs up for manual batteries

Yup, you'd have 2 complete ecigs.

I have this little 'thumb' charger for 510 batts, very tiny, no wires. Easy to carry around. I liked that a lot when I used std 510 batts. Some starter kits may come with the little thumb charger that I'm talking about.

I used a PCC for a while, but I ended up just getting more batteries instead of using the PCC. A few slender spare batts was more convenient to carry than the relatively bulky PCC. If you generally have ready access to USB ports throughout the day that you could use to charge a batt... i'd hold off on the PCC until you figure out you really need it and figure out what you need to carry around on a daily basis. My PCC did not accommodate everything I wanted to carry. I ended up getting a softwallet that did fit everything I wanted to carry (including a thumb charger, a 3ml dropper bottle, and several spare batts).

Similary, I used a passthru for a while, but found that i didn't like the tether and ended up using the portable batts all the time instead... spare batts trump the passthru for me.

If you plan in keeping the PCC in the car for the purpose of charging the batteries up while driving, you might consider an cigarette lighter to USB charging port adapter. You may already have such a thing for charging a phone or music player.

It is exciting! Have fun with it!

Just my experience, but you might really want to start off with. A Joye ego/Riva 510 (the Riva 510 is a clone of the ego) you can get a kit from libertyflights.com for $29.99 if you click on the 20% discount in the top left hand corner.
When I started I bought a Joye 510 kit for $60 and didn't even know about the other choices out there, and after two days of use I was so frustrated at the shortness of the battery that I was ready to start smoking again, then I bought a Joye 510 clone for thirty bucks, and the battery lasts for 8-10 HOURS, and only takes two hours to charge, instead of the one hour battery life I was getting for TWICE the price.
I through away over $190.00 with ought knowing about the riva510 or the Joye ego.
The only difference is that the Joye 510 does LOOK like a cigarette.
But with the Joye 510 kit you have to also buy the extra batteries, AND the personal charging case to Cary around with you, with that other one, one battery should last you all day.
But for the thirty bucks you get TWO BATTERIES, TWO ATOMIZERS, AND ALL THE CARTS!!!!
don't waste the same money I did.
Unless it is very I portent that it LOOKS like you are actually smoking a cigarette, if that is the case, then by all means get the Joye 510, you can't go wrong with it.
Sorry to go off like this, I just regret all the dollars I through away before I knew any better.
Good luck on your journey, it is an amazing thing. Vaping can completely take away all of the craving for a real cigarette.

Also, don't fret over your first setup too much. Once you get started it'll be easier to figure out where to go. The basic 510 (or eGo) starter kit + a spare atty and maybe a fistful of 510 cartomizers and a few different liquids... you're good to go to try things out.

I'll second this. The problem with buying your first real e-cig is that you won't even know what kind you want until you use one for at least a few days.

Wow... that is a really good deal!
20% off the already low priced "JOYE EGO 510 - SPECIAL ECF OFFER"
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

Fwiw... I gotta say that imo the eGo is probably the best "starter" device out there for most people. The extended battery life is so nice compared to the std slim batts... much simplifying. Also, if you find that the std power levels aren't as satisfying as you'd like (as many do), the eGo battery is powerful enough to handle lower resistance attys (LR) too which provides a boost in performance that a lot of people really appreciate.

Just wanted to chime back in with an update. :) I got back from my business trip on Thursday, and had both the 510 and the eGo-T waiting for me. I've been vaping both of them back and forth for the last couple of days. In that time, I've had 5 analogs total - down from almost a pack a day!

A couple of quick newbie notes:

The 510 - Not bad! Filling up the carts is easy, and I don't know what the "stock" liquid is in them, but it's the closest to a normal smoke out of all of the juices that I picked up. Battery life seems pretty solid, I'm charging them here and there, but I had one last me all day and into the night.

I got a passthrough, but the actual use of the device eludes me. It connects via USB, but the connection on the end of it is threaded incorrectly to match up with my atty(s). I'm not sure if I just got the wrong device (it says Joye 510 PT on the box), but either way, I'll be sending it back. I have the PCC for it as well, and it works as expected.

The eGo-T: Awesome, it's my main eCig. Again, great battery life (I'm yet to kill one), charging is easy, filling it is easy, and the no-mess aspect of it compared to filling the carts on the 510 has me sold. I picked one up for my mother as well (a 30+ year pack-a-day smoker) and in the last two days she's had TWO analogs.

I think the smoke of the 510 is a little smoother, the eGo-T is a bit stronger of a draw, but the ease of use of it, plus the fact that you don't need a primer puff like you do with the 510 just puts it over the top for me. Both are great, and it's nice to have both of them around the house/in the car to mix things up.

For juice, I'm using "Tobacco" 18mg from e-smokeytreats.com, along with "coffee", "energy" and "Green tea". They all taste pretty much the same, really, though overall I like the Tobacco in the morning, and Coffee in the afternoon, since the latter has a bit less taste to it. E-smokeytreats.com was awesome to deal with, everything shipped super fast and my order was spot-on both times.

The only thing I don't really care for is that after a while, all of my juices (Regardless of eCig) kinda taste like vegetable oil. I don't know if it's my taste buds just getting used to it, or the fact that my sense of taste is coming back a little bit from not smoking (much) over the last 3 days. I'm definitely going to try some different juices, either way.

That said - thanks for all the great advice everyone! I already feel better (though it's probably quite a bit mental, but hey!) and am extremely happy with both the 510 and the eT. I have one emergency pack of smokes on hand, and I'm hoping that in a week or two I won't even need that. :) It's amazing how BAD an analog smells when I break down and have one, even after just a couple of days! Every time I have one, I have to scrub my hands and brush my teeth like a banshee. I take this as a good sign! :)

Way to go Seventh!

I haven't tried the eGo Tank system yet, but I'm definitely interested in improvements to ecig liquid delivery mechanisms. The MAP tank based on the CE2 carto looks interesting too.

About flavor... there's a whole universe to explore there on several dimensions.

1) There are a lot of different liquids out there from different vendors. Tobacco flavors in particular can be wildly varying. Lot's of liquid reviews in the forums here. Have fun sampling them!

2) Different models of attys/cartos can bring out flavors differently. Imo, 901s and 801s generally provide better flavor than the 510 attys. While the 510 model provides more TH. With adapters, you can sample different attys on your 510/eGo batts.

3) Carts vs cartos vs direct atty dripping... direct dripping generally provides the best flavor

But flavor aside for a moment... for me, the largest single factor in getting a satisfying vape is actually getting the right power level, the right amount of heat... watts. So when sampling different setups, I'm careful to consider the wattage. The 7 to 8 watt range generally works for me.

My fav so far is a dripping in a low resistance 801 atomizer. Gives me a powerful and flavorful vape. It took me a while to settle in on that setup. I used the m401 for a few months, finding flavors and liquids that i liked, and then started exploring different hardware options. After much experimentation... i settled into my current hardware setup... software wise, i recently switched from nHaler's Octane line of liquids to Backwoods Brew tobacco flavors (I only use bacco based flavors).

Anyway... welcome to vaping!

Just wanted to update this. 4 weeks today analog free! :D

My main vapes are an eGo-T and a 510 with cartomizers from IKV. Couldn't be happier. I've tried a ton of juices, and the e-smokeytreats blueberry, vanilla and coffee are my three favorites.

I'm vaping more than I'd like to, but I've set a 12 month goal to get off of the eCig, so I'm not going to sweat it. :) The last pack of cigarettes that I bought was 29 days ago!

Thanks again for all the great advice everyone. :)
