A buddy at work got me a Puff ecig plus a bottle of juice last Monday ($20) and the results are promising so far, cigarette consumption immediately declined 2/3 and is staying there, so far so good.

The first thing I notice is a tendancy to over-medicate. I'm putting more nicotene in my system than with cigarettes. Any suggestions or will that sort itself out?

The particular ecig I'm using, a basic Puff model. It seems to work fine but it's reletively long and delicate. The press on tip has fallen off once but not lost. My daily life is active, work on a shop floor building stationary machines or riding a motorcycle on and off road. An ecig that is more practical for pocket carry would be interesting. Any suggestions?

You're on the right track, since you've cut down already!

I think most of us over-do for a while - you'll get the hang of it. I think it takes the brain a while to understand that the nic is coming from this new toy. When I first started vaping, I had no intentions of quitting, but I would still try to vape my way through a craving. Sometimes, I'd vape too much and get a headache. But you do learn, soon enough, how much is enough.

After that learning curve, vape until you're satisfied. If you're vaping non stop, your nic level might be too low.

As for gear, whoo boy, that's a can of worms, lol!

As you say, the over nic'ing will sort itself out. You will start to notice the very beginnings of nic sick and put the vape down. Eventually, you'll just know how much is good for you (and it is often different person to person).

There are a zillion mods out there that will give you a better more dependable vape. For your lifestyle, I would recommend looking at the Innokin MVP and VV3. Simple and strong. I am very active and these guys can take a good beating and keep on vaping. As for topper, well, best of luck because there are even more of those to choose from  For active duty/work, I use a good old kanger T2. Maybe not the worlds greatest taste or the biggest vapor but perfectly acceptable and they work every time no matter what I do to them.

Welcome! Your in the right place. You never have to smoke another cigarette again!

Wow, great support, thanks. I'm sorry I didn't discover this years ago. This has been so effective in so little time with so little effort I'm amazed it's not considered a major treatment. I called one of my brothers, who smokes, and put the bums rush on him and promised I'd refund what he spends if it doesn't help him.

I needed another bottle of fluid in a hurry yesterday so I walked into a traditional tobacco shop and asked about ecigs and got an angry response about how they cause cancer, blah blah blah. I had to drive a long way to find a smoke shop with product and they didn't have much variety and were not enthusiastic.

None of the places I have been buying cigarettes, including a pharmacy chain store, carries ecigs and I'm sure it's because it would hurt their cigarette business. I think concerns at the State level are motivated by worries about tobacco tax revenues. Concerns about smokers' health are insincere if ecigs are viewed with hostility. Ecigs rival the proverbial magic pill.

Retailers don't need a law to not sell to minors. We don't let kids do anything fun so they will be in a hurry to grow up and get the hell out of the house. Nothing new there.

This morning I left the house for a most-of-the-day motorcycle ride that always includes frequent stops where I--have a smoke. Instead of leaving with no cigarettes I emptied the pack down to two to avoid anxiety and ended up coming home with both of them still in the pack. That would have been unthinkable on last weekend's ride.

My productivity at work is up because I'm not watching the clock and fretting about how I can sneak a cigarette.

An achey left hip, aggrivated by too much bareback cross country horseback riding in my younger days, has stopped being achey in the past week so that issue is put off for another 10 years if not forever.

Then there all the predictable things. I'm sleeping better and longer, have more energy, breathing easier, coughing less and less. Even the women are taking a longer look.

Ah, life is...better.

Two posts, three to go.

Welcome aboard!

As you delve further into this venture, you're going to find all different things out here. Re: the nic level, I'm not familiar with the Puff, but you could consider dropping your nic level a little bit. You didn't mention where you are now, but I did find earlier in my journey that I'd get light-headed and nauseous when I was overdoing it. I'm almost never without my mod in hand, so I'm quite comfortable with a pretty low-level. I could probably be at 0, but I do like that little "zing" I used to get when I smoked my first cig of the day.

Wander around other threads - you can start posting in most once you hit your 5 posts. Say hi to a few more folks and at 25 past the hour, the servers do the thing they do, and you'll be able to venture elsewhere.

Glad to hear things are looking up for you :)

The way nic is absorbed from vapor is very different than from cig smoke, if you are "hitting" your e-cig the same way you would a cig, this will very often cause you to over nic.

read this over, gain some wisdom, and then adjust the way you inhale from your ecig.

It takes time to adjust our muscle memory to inhale this different way, so you gotta pay attention to it for awhile, especially if you are still on cigs too.

I think most of us over vaped when we started. It takes a little longer for the nic to register than with an analog. Most vaped heavy at first to make sure we get enough. That will slow down in time. Hopefully you have a strong enough nic level for now. I've been vaping for 4 months now and I can tell you I'll never go back to the stinkies. Congrat on your accomplishment.

I discovered a recently opened Vape-only shop a couple miles from work. After lunch I told the boss I was going to the doctor and clocked out for an hour to visit the place. (Hey, it's better than the doctor, cheaper and it actually does me some good.)

I decided to buy what the proprietor wanted me to buy which was an Aspire tank and a vision spinner II for power. I added the stainless option to the tank, a box of replacement burners, a couple bottles of fluid, and a recharge adapter which all cost me about two weeks worth of cigs.

I'm not trying to "quit" smoking, rather reduce the number of cigarettes I smoke, hopefully to zero. I'd rather just lose interest in cigarettes, not force myself to stop using them. That seems to be happening. I've been vaping for a week and a couple of days. Just three cigs today, none since 9:00am and not because of will power, just didn't feel like it. That's amazing and all the credit goes to the technology.
