Hi my name is Marty I live in the twin city's Minnesota. After 40 years of smoking I decided that was enough. Been cig free for 12 weeks today.
I have only been vaping for 14 weeks.
I'm down to 10 mg. now is it to early to cut that to 5 mg. I find myself vaping constantly when at home now and really want this to stick.

Chain vaping might get you by at first, but I would recommend you stay at a nicotine level you are comfortable with for a little while. Let your body adjust to not getting tar and other carcinogens in tobacco. Vaping is still a healthier (but not harmless) alternative.
I. too, smoked for 40+ years. Pack-and-a-half to two packs a day. It took me six months to go from 18mg to 12mg. Relax and don't push yourself. Time takes Time.

Welcome!
I smoked for 20+ years, I started vaping a few years back. At first I was at 24mg of nicotine and weened myself down to 3mg a few months back.
I've always had two rigs going at the same time, as I made the transition one tank had 12mg and the other 6mg for example.
Hope this helps and don't be too bard on yourself. You've already made a huge jump.

Hi and welcome to the board. If you are vaping constantly, and were not a chain smoker previously, you may already be too low on the nic. It's not easy to say, some people have an addiction to the hand-to-mouth motion as strong, or stronger, than the nic dependency. I do. I started years ago on 18mg juice and am down to 3mg today. But I still need the mod to keep my hand busy. Chrissie has good advice. Don't rush it, that's a good way to go back to the sticks. You don't say what kind of gear you're using, but one idea might be to keep a tank/carto filled with high-nic juice, preferably in your favorite flavor, just in case. Then you can cut your nic in the juice in your go-to tank if you like. And if the cravings get bad, pop on the other one and have a few hits. Might want to try that first thing, too, to stop the "morning cigarette" urge, or after meals, or when drinking, or whenever it hits you hard.

If you were a chain smoker, then you might need to chain vape to keep your hand busy, no matter what nic you're using. You haven't told us a lot yet. How much did you smoke when you were, for starters, and what kind of gear are you using? That'll help me to advise you.

no need to cut down unless you find it too harsh.

Thanks all.
I was a chain smoker so that probably explains why I chain vape.
I really don't know why I feel the need to cut down the nic level at this point. I enjoy the vaping so much more than smoking. As far as hardware goes I now have a nice lot of it 17 tanks and 7 battery's trying to find the perfect combination.

Would you believe I know the feeling about the many tanks and batteries thing? You sound like you're on top of it, so go with what you feel. But if you get to craving cigs again, I think you can beat it by running the nic back up, even if temporarily. I'm sure you're right about chaining. You probably need that, so I wouldn't be in a hurry to try to stop it. Good luck, and sing out if we can help.

With multiple setups available you have the flexibility to keep a tank with some higher strength nicotine in case you get a craving, and meanwhile you can vape on much lower strength most of the time.

Right now am toying with the idea just picked up my first 30 of 5 mg. I'm a bit hesitant of giving it a shot. I do have plenty of 10 mg. so I will run a few tanks to see if it is viable at this point.

with 17 tanks already you ought to pick yourself up an rda; then, there'd be no need to plan trying out a new juice in a tank, you just try it in the rda.

more importantly, what mg strength you vape is tied to what wattage you vape at.
You will end up using higher mg strength on low wattage coils, and low strength on high wattage coils.

Hi Marty, and welcome. I'm in the TCs, too! Congratulations on your 12 weeks. That's great. It took me almost a year, and a change in equipment to cut back on nic from 24 to 12, and another change in setup to cut further to 6 mg. I likely will reduce again to 3mg, but I'm not personally that concerned about the nicotine anymore. I do have some nic-free for late evenings, so I can get to sleep.

I think whatever rate you want to cut, or not cut, is up to you. I personally wouldn't want to cut so much that I started cravings cigarettes, but it sounds like you're doing great.

In case you're interested, here's a video on nicotine that I found interesting.
