New hardware should be better, but it's not

For the past 8 months, my main vape has been kangertech VV batteries with an Evod Glass tank. I've been using both single coils and double coils in the tank, and I prefer the single coils, as I find that it vapes better and has a better taste. I've been using 1.8 & 2.2 single coils and 1.5 dual coils.

That set up has been working for me, but I decided to try something new just for the hell of it, and I bought an Endura T22 which I recently received.

It puts out 14 watts, and it uses a 1.5 coil. I easily get a lot of vape out of it, but for some reason, the same premium juices that I vaped on my previous setup just do not taste as good in my Endura T22. I'm kind of disappointed, since I read numerous places about how the taste was supposed to be so great.

Could it be that the new setup is more powerful than what I used before, and that is affecting the taste so much?

Could it be that I am just so used to low wattage vaping, that even a 14 watt unit is too much for me?

Yes and yes.
You need to find a different juice for the new setup.

Kayfun was what made me transition from factory coils to winding my own. I can make my own resistance and vary the wire gauge to vary the number and size of the wraps to get whatever resistance I need.

The savings over factory coils is significant. I was burning through $50 worth of factory heads a month. One roll of Kanthal will last me a couple of years and a box of Sally's cotton coil or Rayon Cellucotton will last about that long, too.

You can spend the money you save on juice.

A big factor is simply what is familiar. When I switched from watts to temp control it seemed like watts control was producing slightly better flavor. I used temp control exclusively for 6 weeks then tried watts control and found the temp control was producing taste I liked better. Today I can use either one but prefer temp control. Probably both of your setups are fine you just need to learn how or adapt to the slightly different taste. If you were rotating between a bunch of different setups as the hobby folks do things would be different.

The good thing about temp control is that with stainless steel wire you can go back and forth from wattage to TC with the same atomizer coil depending on the resistance range your mod requires for TC.

The little Evod coils are rebuildable. I've even done verticals in them. But prefer the precoiled nr-r-nr wires. Very battery power efficient, ramp up instantly and pack of 50 is under $2. Drill bits work wonders for airflow improvements.

Stainless builds let me do a direct comparison between TC and watts control. In watts mode I don't go past 20 watts to avoid overheating my +1.0 ohm builds. TC mode lets me go to 30 watts and prevent overheating with a temperature limit. I'm getting the throat hit I want and I can vape the wick on my rda fairly dry before needing to drip to avoid a dry hit.

With reviews it could go ether way. For examples I've read/watched a bunch of 'hate' on the Lemo2 and it is one of my favorite RTA's. I've also read/watched a bunch of 'love' for the Cubis tank while my copy currently occupies my 'junk drawer'.

I've found that reviews both positive and negative need to be taken with a "grain of salt". Flavor is very highly subjective and not something I take into consideration anymore when purchasing new hardware.

I had a LEMO 2 and it was a good tank. The problem was that after finger tightening the chimney onto the coil deck it seized so tight that a rubber jar opener wouldn't loosen it and I had to use tools to remove it. When it seized so tight that I had to use pliers, the outer body where the tank seal sits collapsed inward.

Atomizers should be finger tight and shouldn't require tools. When I damaged mine I tossed the whole thing in the trash. My Kayfuns and my Orchid V4 don't have the thread seizing issue. I can unscrew them all with my fingers. I ran all the threads back and forth on the LEMO 2 to polish the threads and make them smooth, but for some reason they'd lock down after a build and a little vaping and would require excess pressure to get the chimney off. Go figure.

    No

    Its the atty.

In my journey I've gone from 5.5 to 80 watts as my all day setting.

I now vape ~80 watts exclusively vice a drag or two from one of the wifes setups from time to time.

The flavor I get is intense. Evod/Kayfun light intense, if not more.

I make my mixes with around 6% total flavoring, and that's plenty more than enough.

But I use a tiny atty with no obstruction to the flavor with big coils that further reduce the chamber.

Problem is with some of this new gear that mfrs are busy catering to the high power trend and somewhat ignoring nuances that make for great flavor.

It doesn't have to be that way. You CAN get flavor that knocks your socks off @ 200W if you're so inclined.

15 to 30 watt range SHOULD BE very easy.

With the same coil, a T18 Endura has better taste to me than a T22 Endura and I easily prefer the T18. I have no idea why that is but find it similar to my preference for the Nautilus Mini over the full size Nautilus in both taste and performance. The larger tanks have different heat dissipation maybe and/or maybe something else. Looks have nothing to do with it. I just prefer the smaller tanks for taste and performance in both lines. With that in mind, I might be able to understand your findings as well.

It was the NR legs on the Kanger coils that made me start looking at rebuildables. Apparently three years ago tiny solder blobs were used on the coils to attach leads. The solder would degrade and lose connectivity. A head wouldn't last a day before going open. Eventually, they began to use wire welding techniques and the problem went away.

You have reached the Twilight Vape Zone. You found something that has good reviews and looks promising but the reality is, it's just not as good as what you've become accustomed to using. The same thing has happened to me and 99% of all vapers.

I have used low wattage stuff for 3 years and the Innokin Endura is superior in every way to me and vapes as good as anything i have tried .

What does that mean , it means every single individual is likely going to have a different opinion. I still use Kangertech T3s clearo's , they are excellent .

The T 18 Endura topper can easily be replaced with something else , sounds like the OP doesn't like the way the topper vapes , try another one.
