I think the 5 post rule is a great idea to help people get to know thia world before sending them off on their own.

This place can be so silly...

Conversely, you have all those newbies who hit 70 posts, realize they can no longer start threads in the New Members forum, and have a freak out panic attack when they realize they must dip their toe in the big wide world part of ECF.

Yeah, 5 posts is way too much work for the access to 100's of 1000's of potentially helpful threads and the knowledge of 1000's of people who are experienced in all aspects of vaping at any given level. It's a rough life!

Yeah but the OP has "valuable input" - he said so. I feel a void opening that I didn't even know existed until Johnny One Post showed up.

I agree, I spent literally MONTHS in the new member area before I ventured out to explore.

Not I.

But then again, I just tend to jump into "the deep end", in most everything I'm interested in. :D

The New Members sub-forum here is excellent, though. As for requiring 5 posts to establish yourself here, that's quite a minimal requirement in my experience, and maybe it's just me, but sometimes I'll make more than that in a half hour.. with no conscious "effort".

The OP's a whiner who wants attention as he quits without even trying, imo. I've seen em before, (on other forums), and I've no doubt that I'll see em again. They're good for an occasional laugh.

I jumped in with both feet as well, but I hated being a n00b so I kind of lurked while I gathered intel. I hated asking questions at first because I didn't want to sound like a total tool. But I guess that's how you learn, by being a tool at first.

Yup, that's how you learn. Do a couple searches for basic info on a subject you're interested in, then ask a question that's valid in your inexperienced mind in the quest to be edjamacated. On an excellent forum like this, many experienced people will "take pity on the noob", and give you a patient explanation. To some jaded afficionados, you might come off as a "tool", but who the hell cares? That's how it goes, with anything you're new to.*shrug* :D
