Thanks for the support and the kind notes. We're both staunch Christians (even though we acknowledge that smoking is a sin), so that has been very comforting for us. We both got E-cigs, and set goals, to cut our smoking in half. I made my goal, I'm at 10 real cigarettes a day, I shoot for at least an hour between cigarettes, and vape in-between. I vape the myBlu with tobacco Intense pods (3.6%). Petra is halfway there, down from 40 cigarettes a day to 30 a day. I now firmly believe that there's more than nicotine in cigarettes that keeps us hooked; the myBlu is less than 100% satisfying. But, I've taken to it quite well. Since I'm smoking fewer cigarettes, I've decided to switch to longer cigarettes, Virginia Slims 120's. Tomorrow when I buy my carton will be the first time ever I've bought a carton for myself that didn't say Marlboro on the side. But I won't be saying good-bye to my Marb reds 100's; that's what I'll be going back to when I fly to Germany in October. My husband is still planning to come with me for two weeks, but I'll be staying an extra month on top of the month I already planned to stay. And Petra insists she still wants her Newports when we come. So that's how goes it, taking it day by day.

I don't see the rationale for this move.

Seems like you'd be cheating yourself away from your ultimate goal with a self-perceived shortcut. Would make more sense to smoke just HALF of a cigarette than to smoke a longer one, right?

Just wondering if you're truly sincere in your quest or looking for shortcuts. There are no shortcuts to success.

If the vape pen is working for you, you are right there is additional alkaloids and chemicals in cigarettes.

If you consider getting a refillable pod to vape then you might want to check out WTA ejuice, so find it more satisfying than nicotine alone as it contains other alkaloids from tobacco. Refilling a pod as a next step would also have the benefit of being less expensive than myblu.

Aroma Ejuice Manufacturer of WTA Whole Tobacco Alkaloid Eliquid
is one that sells wta juice there are others

Wait is smoking a sin now? Because I have killed millions, maybe BILLIONS of cigarettes. Does that not make me an agent of the Lord, like seriously I was keeping them out of the hands of the worthy.

I have never, ever heard smoking described as a sin not even by a politician because they want to tax them. And that's saying something.

Is there some Bible Doctrine somewhere that specifically says that citation please because I am SUPER curious.

Also, good luck, I am not sure if God considers it a sin, but it is for sure a sin against your health?

And, are ecigs okay kind of like methadone for the ...... addicted? How does this all work exactly?

I know you're pretty well read, so I'm not sure if you're kidding Anna. Surely you've heard the phrase "your body is a temple." The Bible tells us that getting tattoos is forbidden, as well as knowingly poisoning your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
Leviticus 19:28

Meh I sped read the bible in 2 weeks of comparative religion class. I have taken some bible study classes and always quit, because I found them so incredibly boring.

Whomever(s) wrote that thing needed an editor and not the Catholic church either. I hear they took all the good stuff OUT.

It just never did anything for me. I speed read the Qu'ran too and it was far more entertaining. LOL. But that Muhammad dude was clearly bipolar so I kind of approached it from the perspective of "This is what my life would have been like as a dude, unmedicated." LOL. It's not a bad read and apart from the simply unspeakable violence, I might have enjoyed it.

It may be Corinthians but it's not Timothy: Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well...

Oh unspeakable violence in the bible too! I just never liked those "High school compilations of "excerpts" of famous writers in 30 page chunks and you are like "Whut."

I am not gonna accept some "my body is a temple either" it needs to be specific. Specific like Judaism and dairy and meat, Sorry.

I still want to know about the methadone aspect of like, ecigs as compared to cigarettes.

Because smoking may well have SAVED me from pollutions of other sorts who knows.

Meh, I am sure you could extrapolate it SOMEWHERE the bible is like the Constitution you can find "your point" if you try hard enough.

I do enjoy watching theologians battle it out. MAN there are way too many priests and such on ALL sides of my family in fact my EX MIL is a preacher, I am a preacher's kid, and the husband has been commanded to be a preacher of some sort by SO many family members (many of them preachers.) He always says no and my gratitude knows no bounds. I would be the most graceless, ineffectual preacher spouse EVER I mean.... getting up in the middle of the night to go comfort family members of the dying for NO PAY even? ARGH.

Ex MIL actually baptized me (and the kid, in utero) and I don't think you are like supposed to do that but I let her because she was so miserable about the wedding AFTER the birth.

Good day!

I personally find this conversation so interesting, and as a avid vaper and Christian I honestly ignored this issue myself. But thank you for opening my eyes and keep Christ in my life! I found an interesting video that's worth a look at! It's a youtube video of a Pastor speaking about this actual issue!!

Happy vaping!!

I get your point, but it's kind of difficult to find that level of specificity about today's issues from something thousands of years old. You won't find a verse that says "don't cut off people in traffic," or "thou shalt not steal shall be interpreted to include knowingly keeping too much change given to you at the grocery store." You either accept and believe the Bible, or you don't. And yes, if you do accept it, no matter what, you'll have to make some subjective interpretations. For instance, I don't recall any age limits specified in the Bible, but I kind of know it's not okay for a grown man to date and marry a 6 year old.
Because smoking may well have SAVED me from pollutions of other sorts who knows.
Anna
But that part - it's not a subjective interpretation, but a rationalization. I'd compare it to saying "yes, I punched him and broke is nose, but that was only to keep me from killing him. So because I did less harm, it's okay."

Girl, you have no idea how much you remind me of my sister (who I love!). Like you, she's very intelligent, and like you, she can be very entertaining and funny, but also like you, she sometimes has some weird (to me) ways of looking at things.:)

Believe me, I undertstand the difference between objectivity and subjectivety. I was an English and philosophy major in college. That statement was totally tongue in cheek. I am aware that the Bible does not tell you how to merge in traffic, specifically.

Jesus did very much approve of wine, though. And if you are going to tell me back then how like it was super dilute and more like kool aid where it would kill germs (and if Jesus was so miraculous he could have provided Evian, honestly) so lets face it yes it's a product of its times.

The Bible is okay. Frankly, the old testament just chokes my choad, God is just way too mean to people and all testing them and crap all the time. I am glad I am not Jewish (OMG for SO many reasons, no offense) but that is a culture I just do not get. I'm sure it has its PLUSES but for me, I just recoil.

I think it was cool when God was like "I shall FOCUS ALL MY RAGE on my ONLY BEGOTTEN son" because he really acted like a cool parent there, I must say. I mean, "Here is this impossible task, I am going to torture you until you do it, and by the way you will save humanity so NO PRESSURE," and then when you finally emerge from the cave after being all DEAD of EXHAUSTION from all that SAVING, well God's like "Niiiiice. Come on back up to Heaven" and Jesus is all thinking "Um I was planning to you know, buy an abode a LITTLE further away, Dad" but he doesn't say it and he rises up and the whole time he's like "I MISS THE WINE."

LOL maybe I prersonalized that a bit I had a mom a bit like the New Testament God but GEEZ, at least he's not freaking out children by imaginary TEST your faith lamb sacrifices or like, that type of stuff.

I believe the Bible is real. If I had to join an organized religion it would probably be a Christian one. I mean, it's better than some other stuff, and I most CERTAINLY believe in certain Christian tenants.

However, my course in Comparative Religion which was HELL I have never read so much so fast in my life, it was at Swarthmore so it was like, "A full text per week." Etc. But, it did give me a nice takaway message that MANY if not MOST religions that seem palatable to me contain the main tenant: "Just don't be a (Censored_). OH, you are human, you are going to fail but just TRY your best to not be a (Censored) and then you can forgive yourself (and be forgiven) and it's all gonna be fine but you do have to KEEP TRYING."

Etc.

Not a limit as a rule, But Boaz was significantly older than his wife, Ruth.

“Then he (Boaz) said, ‘May you be blessed of the LORD, my daughter. You have shown your last kindness to be better than the first by not going after young men, whether poor or rich” (Ruth 3:10)

See, that's what I mean- always an interesting and entertaining take on things. And no, he approved of wine of course. One of the things he seems to be most famous for. Watered down wine back then? No way. Hey, everything was better in the old days. Imagine how good the wine was way back then. Especially when Jesus made it himself.

You know who DOES tell you how to merge in traffic, specifically?? This really neat little research-y book on driver behavior called "traffic." You find out why you do the dumb things you do instead of the SMART ones you want to.

I am so glad my PREFERRED method of merging (drive up to the very end and then shove my way in) is like, the BEST one. If EVERYONE did that, our drives would ALL go faster. So I unabashedly continue to do it unless it's like border patrol and they would consider my driving unpolite and possibly Mexican.

If there is one thing I never want to have happen is my car all torn up by like, Border Patrol and their drug sniffing dogs look well trained but NOT friendly.

In that case, I merge exactly like a dumb American. Otherwise, I think as I SLIDE up to the end, "Dumb folks. Curse me all you want, I am making your drive FASTER and CERTAINLY mine, but that is on YOU."

Thing most useful to like reduce accidents? Traffic furniture. That means circles and speed bumps and crap.

Around here, I might opt for the accident.
