I'm sure this has been asked too many times, but i'm having a tough time making a decision. After 12 years of smoking I'm ready to call it quits and have been doing an insane amount of research trying to find the right E-Cig for me. I would appreciate any feedback I can get to help me with my decision. I've been smoking menthols pretty much the entire way. From what I've read most people tend to recommend the Joye 510 or Ego for beginners. Price isn't' really a concern. I like that the 510 lights at the tip like an analog does ( trivial i know, but i'm new to this!). But aside from that, the ego seems to outdo the 510 in every other aspect, including battery life. Can you guys let me know if I'm missing anything, or if there are there any other recommendations that you feel I should look into? Thanks in advance for any help!

If you buy a 510 kit and then decide that battery life is too short between charges you will be able to use the atomizers and cartridges for it on the ego. People also really like the kr808's the have them at vapor4life.com at reasonable prices. These also light at the end but use cartomizers instead of cartridges, the cartomizers can be bought in many flavors and strengths or can be bought empty and all can be refilled several times each. These are both good starters. I chose to buy all my equipment in 510 so they would all be compatible.

Welcome to the ECF, Dre180. You have obviously done some research and you are absolutely correct concerning the 510 and eGo. The 510 is close to the size of a cigarette and lights up at the end, but the eGo/Riva outperforms it in battery life. Both use the same 510 atomizer or cartomizer, so the vape is the same for both.

MANUAL

If you buy auto batteries I'll have to mock you

The manual 510's are totally sealed on the threaded end so safe for dripping and for cartos - both of those are probably the most popular methods of vaping and they occasionally leak on the end of the battery. Manuals also won't turn on by accident from wind or vibration. And manuals give you more control of your hit.

If you get a 510
Buy a real Joye 510 manual - see Cignot.com
Best PCC for standard 510 is the one at NoSmokeVA.com
Try standard resistance Boge cartomizers

Downside of standard 510 - 180mah short battery life of 1-3 hours for a heavy to light vaper

Joye mega xl manual kit, 280mah 128mm long w/ a carto, would give 60% more battery life, but can only use a less roomy metal PCC

Downside of all slim 510 in addition to the shorter battery life >>>>>> you cannot use the hotter harder hitting LR low resistance attys and cartos the fat battery models like Ego and Riva can use

I vape the slim ones 510 (MANUALS). And I carry a charged Riva 510 battery with me in for if I want some slightly bigger hits especially since I am now down to 6mg and lower (even with the standard res cartos 510 can only use, the Riva vapes them a bit warmer and bigger) and the Riva is my guarantee I won't run out of battery power even if I screw up charging all of the short batteries I have with me.

Thanks to Everyone for the help, i really appreciate it! It seems as if the Riva 510/Ego seems to be the flavor of choice, not really a bad word about it. That's what i will get. Thank you for recommending liberty flights Sugar and Spice, looks great! I will go ahead and get a LR atty to go along with it. Is the Riva brand fine, or should i get the Joye LR atty?

One last thing. Being i'm a longtime menthol smoker, (Newports, then Marb Menthol lights) can someone make a recommendation as to what they think the best menthol flavored ELiquid would be? Other flavor suggestions are welcome too, of course. There seems to be a never-ending amount of choices. (coupled with my apparent indecisiveness, choosing one has become an impossible task!)

Lastly dormouse, no worries. Auto is not even an option. That was funny!

Update: Went with Joye Ego. Didn't like the gold ring on the Riva. (silly, but for $10 difference in devices, not big deal)

I started with a 510, depending on how much you plan on vaping, i would just skip the 510 and go right to the Ego Battery life is SO much longer. I was carrying 3 or 4 510 batteries at all times just incase. Ego i have one battery that last me 1-2 days depending on my vaping. I was a pack to a pack and a half a day smoker. So hope that gives you a bit of refereance.
